Unfortunately it doesn't particularly matter what you do or don't think 'seems ideal' for a mode in this game. As was stated a few times earlier in this conversation, Rare has come out and said point blank that there will be absolutely NO updates made specifically for Safer Seas that High Seas does not also have. They're not gonna go through the expense of restructuring their game from the ground up to add a third person camera mode that almost nobody wants six years into an anticipated ten-year life cycle.

Will just shelf this game until Rare does so. I can wait.

I kinda doubt you sitting out of playing this game (especially since you've already apparently purchased it and they have your money anyway) is gonna be the straw that breaks the camel's back to the devs on this change.

Ney, Belay That. The Third Person Camera ruins the Magic & Beauty of the Seas. There is no need for it.

I have played this game since March of 2018 which was the same Month that the game came out and I always thought that they should have some way to see your own pirate while running and killing skeletons and such. Rare pls add this it would be awesome.

@species84725778 again. Rare has stated that Safer Seas will not get a feature that isn't in Higher Seas.

Okay, so Rare calls their approx equiv of PVE servers "Safer Seas". Cool.

And about adding third person camera to that game mode? Technical difficulties, in all my searches about this, were never an issue, Rare always cited pvp advantages to allowing a third person camera to Sea of Thieves.

And Safer Seas game mode seems ideal for this to be an allowed option. [No, I don't see being able to be a jerk and attack your picked team mates as a serious pvp concern for this mode.]

Second: no feature will ever come to safer seas exclusively, this has been stated by Rare

@callmebackdraft Rare has to follow the money unfortunately . Hope that mode that one personally favors stays on the side of profitability is all I can say on that. From what you have said based on technical costs Safer Seas could be priced out of existence quite easily . I hope that doesn't happen.

@sairdontis4317 it has nothing to do with individual improvements for high seas or safer seas.

Keeping development as simple as possible is the best chance for safer seas to survive, otherwise of it costs too much individual development time to keep safer seas in working order it will go the way of arena, which cost way too much in upkeep.

And rare as always stated that high seas has been, is and always will be the main way to play

@callmebackdraft I personally would try to not remove incentives to playing the game regardless of mode if I was trying to maintain profits.

It would be interesting to see to the numbers of players wanting improvements to Safer Seas compared to those opposed to those improvements being added. I suppose based on the stance on Safer Seas that, for now at least, those numbers are on the side of High Seas improvements over Safer Seas as if this was not the case the game would be losing money and that can only continue for a limited time.

The calculation is quite simple of safer seas being 6 times more expensive. They require a server to go live that has the same capabilities of a high seas server however only one crew instead of 6 crews can be present on them. On high seas servers are constantly merging to have it be the most efficient, no such thing can happen for Safer seas.

Of course the reduced risk is a reason for the reduced reward but the extra expense is also one imho because they dont want any more extra incentives to play safer seas indtead of high seas

@callmebackdraft Yeah, it sounds quite the technical hurdle, though I am unsure of the expense involved in implementing something like that. I'm also of the opinion the 1st person was challenge intended in that you can't see behind yourself without turning.

Not all treasure is Gold. In many players, the fact someone else didn't get the gold for whatever reason or pleasure of killing a pirate is enough reward. That makes it pvpve still.

Maybe I also did a Event/Deed/Trial/daily thing that granted me gold but not my crew, just me for doing it. ^_^

@sairdontis4317 yes, but i cant even count the amount of times that i sunk a enemy on the high seas and couldn’t be bothered to sell their loot and made it sink.

So yeah, SS are not PvE servers the difference they have is that only one crew can join them at a time. And due to that reduced risk with no other crews there is a reduced reward.

Having to have any sort of extra development for safer seas will make them less and less viable because the servers are already at least 6 times more expensive to host per player then High seas servers are.

People seem to think that adding something like 3rd person camera is simple to add, “just move the camera”. But it is not it would lead to ALOT more expensive development to have it work and make control schemes for it.

In early stages of development both 1st and 3rd person was tested and in the end 1st person was the choice they made and stuck with

Whatever thread you need to hold on to is no issue or judgement from me. You can kill your crew mates, but can not steal their share of the treasure as long as they stay on the crew. This is no small detail.
