Like real life Pirate lore, this would be an awesome addition to the game if we found a way to impement it in code realistically.

An ever so often rare storm that takes over a section of the map seems like a challenge I wouldn't mind adding to the game. And it would make it easier for the casual PvE ers to escape too. Win win.

A fair while back (several months ago) they randomly increased the height and intensity of the waves on the open ocean and just never said anything about it. I swear no one has noticed it and it's immensely annoying. Naval fights on sloops used to be fun but now it's way too hard to hit your shots. I genuinely want nothing more from this game other than for them to reduce the waves back to what they used to be. The new waves are miserable. Thank god someone else seems to notice it!

It's the same with harpooning treasure out of the water. So many times I'm blindly shooting thru a wave, and hope to grab something. So many times when I'm in the water swimming towards an island (to check barrels, or see what's glinting on the shore), I have to pull out my compass and check the heading, because I know once I'm swimming towards it, I can't see it due to the curtain of water in front of me I'll never see over.

I agree, it's like this curtain of water you can't see over. It's the same when you're swimming in the water and need to find flotsam or treasure, many times your view is completely blocked by a wave you can never see over.

Larger waves in storms do already appear but I think it's only in certain regions. Larger waves though affects the physics of the ships more so would put more strain on the servers I'd imagine. On the flip side it'd be nice aswell to have much flatter seas in regions like the shores of plenty.
