It should get you banned but here we are still dealing with it

This exploit has been way to long ingame, is it really that hard to fix? I wouldn't even mind if ANYONE could do it, like Rod Launch, which was patched out. But Ladder Launch doesn't work on console if i'm correct. That's just unfair as all pirates should be on the same playing field. Us consoleros can't change water settings to 'low' to see boarders easier, which makes Ladder Launch even harder to counter.

I think the only reason it's not a straight ban is because it could be done accidentally.

But if someone is doing it deliberately to gain an advantage, they should get multiple reports going through and it's a much clearer scenario. So, for that reason, always record and report exploiters, and leave it to Rare to sort out.

Failure is when you quit trying. I gotta check myself all the time, reflect on what I'm doing all the time, make adjustments, readjust, calibrate, re-calibrate, try to figure things out for the day.

If people try to tell you that they have things all figured out they are trying to sell you something. We are all out here just trying.

The most impact any of us will truly have is local.

How we treat those around us, how we treat ourselves, what kind of example we set for those that are involved in the day to day operations around us. How we treat others that we encounter.

It's why I'm not into people running around telling each other to "be better" all the time. I want to try to do better and I want to try to understand that we are all a couple of steps away from messing up so it doesn't make sense for me to act like I'm better.

@gunnner1 yes, which is why you don't want to add to the fire and make more people miserable. The unfortunate reality of it is that there will always be cheaters and there isn't a ton to do that can prevent it. Anti cheat will always be a reactionary solution instead of an actual fix.

You can help the anticipation, as you've discovered, by reporting the individuals using exploits and cheats. However, it is an uphill battle and it does not fix the actual issue.

I'd look at it like this.

If you do it on random servers you're going to eventually get called a cheater, people are going to escalate and people are going to try to get reactions out of you based on your actions.

You're already in a situation where it bugs you. You're likely going to contribute to escalation.

This is where people get in trouble a lot. This is factored in when I suggest that someone avoids something.

If you go out there and get in trouble people are going to talk down to you, they are going to be dismissive, so you could end up with not only account consequences but then you end up in a situation where some in the community are going to make that more difficult for you. I factor that in when I am giving advice.

There is nothing to gain from it, it's a roll of the dice that you will lose every time. Always gotta look at the big picture, the effects that something will have overall. The risks overall. It's going to make things more difficult for you.

Look at it this way. If players need to and rely on ladder launch in order to get to you, once it's patched, what are they going to do? It'll require them using skill again, which they haven't done probably in a while lol. So continue being awesome and just don't do it. Pointless learning an exploit that's going to be patched out.

If cheaters were addressed, it would be easy to ignore them. Dealing with the same "cheats" and exploits on the regular has a corrosive effect on moral and gameplay

Thank you for this info. I have not been reporting players who use it but probably will start. I should have recorded and reported the guy who used it on me last night

Step 1: Stop being so invested in pixels. This is a game, and while losing your treasure and progress to an exploit is frustrating it's not the end of the world.
Step 2: Listen to Musicmee. You can report users, you can be reported, don't do it and wait for the patch.

Weird that'd you'd essentially declare on the forums your intentions to play without regard to the intentions of the devs.

@hiradc Hard to give but it's fact unfortunately... while not directly bannable the use of it as part of a wider scenario can be seen as using an exploit to grief for example.

Used to show a wider disregard for the fair playing field.

As I said, each case is taken at its merit.

@musicmee hard to give this message when drew said specifically on a video that it was frowned upon but not bannable. I know they have added a specific movement exploit as an option within the report function but it seems more like scare tactics than actual intention to enforce.
I don't see the ladder launches unless I go to pc servers, the myriad of crud ones though have been abundant.

@gunnner1 Rare have stated that ladder launching is an exploit and not okay in their book, so for the sake of your account, I would not do it. It will get patched eventually but if you’re caught doing it and someone reports you, there’s a good chance you’re going to get banned for it.

It's a game, people aren't bad people for doing some unintended gameplay in a game.

I recommend things that I think will keep people out of trouble in the long run. That's what my advice is based on. You can do whatever you wanna do, I just don't recommend things that can easily lead people down a path into trouble, or more trouble.

Keep it clean, keep it fair, and there is less to worry about.

No judgement from me about it, I just would like to see people stay out of trouble in the long run and enjoy adventure more as it was designed.

"they are doing it so I should do it too" is a dangerous thing when justifying things that aren't intended, that's aren't fair play in the environment. I try to encourage people to avoid that.
