I am all fine with people doing that as stranger crews... But your VERY OWN ONE? Why is that even possible? Sure, it might be hard to code a barrier in to prevent Griefers from doing that... But the easiest solution to this Griefer problem would be to add a Captains Permission setting rule that allows us Captains of a Ship to withdraw crew members to use the frying pan.

Enemies could still use it of course. But not your own crew, fully allowing to prevent any stranger in your public group griefing silently your gameplay.

And before someone says "what about explosive kegs?"... Well, I still can shoot them when they carry it, right? And you have to find one in the first place to grief your team that much. But the frying pan is there, right from the start. Just grab ANY food piece and throw it on it and if your team is not watching it, you can grief them easily. Because for real, who expects people to join your team and grief you as a normal player?

I did that 3 times before being not around for once because I was on the Isle, doing the Voyage we (the 2 other players and I). Until that moment I just thought they didn't know how the frying pan works. They could be new players after all... But someone doing it 4 times? That's just suspicious.

As mentioned in the main topic, it's totally fine that other crew members can do that on your ship. Or do you say in other games your fellow team players should also be able to grief you whenever they want?

Exploit? No...
Griefing...maybe...

Anyway, it takes a while to burn the ship until it sinks...don’t you watch for your ship, when it takes so long doing stuff on an island? (Question 1)
Are you sure that guy did this on purpose? (Question 2)

Regarding Question 1, the only visible flagged ship was on the other side of the map, entirely busy raiding Forts and Tombs for treasure and not annoying anyone. No other ship was in sight for the past 30 minutes before that moment. So yes, we didn't expect other players to attack us. ESPECIALLY not our BLOODY OWN TEAM MATE.

Which leads me to your 2nd question. That guy tried it 4 times (with the 4th time being the successful one). Fire broke out earlier already on his 3rd attempt and it was clearly visible from where the fire originated (after all, it leaves burning marks on the ship floor). We were in the middle of the sea, no other ship in sight, blue sky above us. Literally everyone with the brain size of a pea could guess from the burning marks and the environment conditions that this was fire from the frying pan. Even a new player would have understood that. And yet that very same guy did try again and succeeded, when we were all gone from the ship to find the treasure.

And we know it was him because one of us got back to the ship (it wasn't me btw.) and realized what he was doing, asking him first and later begging him to stop doing it. You can't pick up infinite amounts of food as far as I know, so I guess that crew member who found him doing that could not pick it up from the frying pan, resulting in more and more flames burning the ship before we could even return to it.

I am not just 100% sure that guy did it on purpose. I am 1000% sure he did it on purpose.

Welcome to sea of thieves. This game is hilarious. You might have just accidentally made the problem worse with just the title alone. We are a bunch of mischievous pirates and all. You just reminded everyone that read the title alone that there's something they think might be funny to do tonight. But I'm sure I'm probably wrong.

Yes, I am aware of the title potentially increasing the problem. But even if so, either way I would win. If RareGames listens prematurely, the problem will be addressed. If not and people start doing it more, it becomes an even bigger issue, requiring some form of action from Rare or it becomes problematic for their product and I win as a result.

So in a way, I am actually encouraging people to do it more so the issue gets more attention. The same method is used by us Destiny players to make Bungie fix game exploits and bugs... By exploiting said bugs in high amounts. The very idea is to force a developers hand.

So yes, feel free to grief more people if you want. People like me will just avoid in the meantime open crews, which means less players in open play. People griefing others in open crews will mean less players in open play... You see my point.
