Yeah, no disagreement there. A Tall Tale set is not something I think would work, either.

While I agree, I also think that by and in large, the mystical and wonderful world of One Piece isn't TOO different than Sea of Thieves - talking skeletons, sea monsters, etc. One could parallel the World Government/Marines with the GMU, even. But yeah, certain aspects of One Piece simply wouldn't translate well.

3. as for cosmetics, if these are gonna be costumes then there will be a lot of newbies running around in it, and then leaving a handful of people who wear it cosplaying Luffy and others. Not that I mind any new cosmetics coming into the game, even as emporium stuff, but make a full-on tall tale set of this anime is a questionable decision for rare at this point

Yeah realistically, all I could ever hope for is just some cosmetics. People run around in cosplays as is, so I don't think it would be too different. I think if anything, the most realistic idea would be cosmetics based on the live-action show, which is fine by me. Again, agree on the idea of not having any Tall Tales.

The entire reason I'm even constantly hyped about this, is because I asked Mike Chapman if there was ANY chance of One Piece cosmetics coming to SoT. Instead of politely informing that it isn't something they plan on doing, like he typically does for fan ideas/requests, he said, "Maybe.... :)". Maybe I'm reading way into it, but I feel like if there weren't some sort of plan in works, he would have politely said no, and not dangle that fish, so to speak. Plus the fact that Xbox did a small collab with Netflix One Piece to make a limited Series X!

@guyrza Why not? I don't think some cosmetics would hurt. Definitely don't think we need a big crossover event/tales, but some ship sets, costumes, and weapons from One Piece would be very welcome!

@guyrza Perhaps you don't, but a great many folks would love some One Piece cosmetics.

Please avoid engaging in personal arguments and derailing the topic of the thread. It is fine to debate the content of the post, and the viewpoints therein, but disrespecting any of your fellow pirates personally is against the pirate code, and our forum rules.

@crowedhunter Is the sarcasm necessary? Maybe I came off as harsh earlier, but it's only because I legitimately enjoyed the LA, and it's helped me become even more invested in the anime and manga. I started the anime a few months before the LA really started being marketed, and the hype around the LA just boosted the hype.

I thought they adapted the East Blue saga pretty well - sure there were some flaws here and there, but I think they captured the heart very well. As with all live actions, they have to cut certain things (wish they would have done more with Krieg, but oh well), but I think episodic storytelling is better than one and one movies. I hope season 2 ends up adapting Alabasta in great ways!

@crowedhunter I mean, you generalized someone as not a fan, simply because they like something that you happen to not like. That's basically what gatekeeping is.

@jackyjeans Yeah, I've seen a few of those in comment threads about OPLA lol. They think that Oda being involved in the LA somehow takes away from him drawing the manga, and get all flustered because of it. I saw one that even tried to claim that Oda working on the LA was bad for his health, yet in previous comments he wanted Oda to work HARDER on the manga.

@crowedhunter Yeah.. no I'm going to heavily disagree with you, there. If you legitimately think that the 86% on rotten tomatoes from critics was somehow bought, nevermind the 96% overall audience score, I don't know what to tell you, other than you're wrong. Also not even to mention over 100k positive reviews on IMDB.

The entire show was co-created by Oda, and every decision for the show was either approved or denied by Oda himself - if there was something he explicitly did not want, they didn't do it plain and simple. I don't know where you got the idea that Garp didn't show up until the 1000 episode mark in the anime, lol - he showed up towards the end of Water 7/Enies Lobby which was around the late 300's mark. Garp/Helmeppo/Koby's training arc/cover story was explicitly noted by Oda as something he wanted to do earlier on in the anime/manga in order to create power parallels between Koby and Luffy - to show their growth.

Look, it's fine if you personally didn't like the live action, it's not for everyone. But what you said is just flat out wrong, and ill-informed. I'd even venture to say that you're just arguing in bad faith, and trying to rage-bait, which hey, you got me. But be real at least. If millions of One Piece fans have enjoyed the live action, even as a supplementary medium, that's something that shouldn't be ignored. Nevermind the fact that it was in the top 10 shows in 93 countries in the first two weeks, and it got renewed for Season 2 in such a short time. Fact of the matter is that One Piece fans loved the live action by and in large (even with some of it's flaws), and it became the most successful live action adaptation in history.

But I guess because I enjoyed the live action, I'm not a real One Piece fan, right?

@valor-omega Those reviews are either bought or not written by fans of One Piece. The Live Action was awful. The whole show feels like it was written by someone who REALLY liked the Avengers movies. Characters are all changed and including Garp in as early as they did ruins the power scale for reasons we don't learn about until chapter 1000+ somewhere. They didn't read the source, they didn't listen to Oda-sensei. The only reason Oda-sensei is supporting it is because he has his own story to write and when someone spills a drink, you help Makino clean up instead of causing a fuss.

@foambreaker Not to mention localization. Imagine if they used the dub actors.

As a One Piece fan (with many friends that I play SoT with that are also massive fans), take my wallet. I would buy every single emporium item from One Piece. I think it would fit better as a cosmetic crossover though. Also, to those of you like @triheadedmonkey who say just "because pirates" I disagree. Luffy especially, many of the characters are just goofy and would fit perfectly with the playfull style of SoT.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.
