Kraken spawning when i'm figthing against others players really made me give up on the game for a moment, because it happened 3 times with me and never happened with my enemies.

I don't think the kraken event have to stop being random, but just stop happening while being chased or chasing some player.
Some say that the kraken event doesn't last long and you can get rid of it quick, however, the players who are chasing you won't sit down and wait you to finish the event.

Its pure RNG.
You cant change it and worse still you wouldnt want to change it!

The randomness is what makes the seas so fun and unpredictable.

Yeah the kraken ended you this time but next time it could grab the ship chasing you! Its sweet when it does!

I've noticed this to be happening often too and since this is the official forum a reply from developers would be highly appreciated.

Is this completely random and just happens, or is there some kind of algorithm working against people who are running. I mean if a Galleon is running from a sloop it's once thing, but when a sloop is running from brig/galleon and the kraken spawns your chances become slim to none.

Where as if the kraken spawned on the chaser with a bigger crew, this would become a very interesting fight, or a good opportunity to escape.

So yeah, an official response with insights would be appreciated.

I loved this so much for the experience and for the screenshots

My favorite was when I was doing a ghost ship voyage when they first came out and I had a kraken a meg and skelly ship in the middle of the ghost fleet

Its intended that the kraken can spawn on you even while in battle, if it has never spawned on your enemy, that is just bad luck, but it is intended to put pressure on you if it happens.

A seasoned pirate would have tell you that the Kraken, definitely for suspense purposes, only decides to spawn on a random ship between world events (it always wants to be at the centre of attention).

Saw a skull or ship cloud disappear in the sky while being chased ? Rush to the next island, hoping your pursuer would still be in open waters while you can sit on the beach watch the Kraken spawn on them (it prefers to have deep water, so it won't spawn if you're near an island)

Seconding that it's funny when it happens even when it happens to me.
Had plenty of times where my crew was chasing someone or trying to sneak up on someone just to get denied by a kraken, or where I watched another crew get krakened so I took the opportunity to cannon over and steal from them while they're distracted.

I love that type of table-turning rng, and there's no reason to get rid of it as this is a casual game.

I once had a situation where I was battling a skelly sloop when not only did a Meg join in, but fog rolled in too. It was awesome!

Stop Kraken spawning if an enemy is near you? How much hand holding do you need?

As others have pointed out there are only certain areas and situations that a Kraken will spawn in (same as Meg). Just learn from experience and improve, rather than have the game made easier for something that is not really that difficult to do any way.

Honestly, if some people had it their way SoT would simply be a game where you sail and fish and hand flowers to passers-by. 🤦‍♂️

You ever get krakened while a meg is nibbling you and the Skellies decide to show up too?

Stop nerfing pve. They're nerfed to heck and back enough as it is.

I think it's funny when happens, both ways though i don't actively run too much.
Either you don't chase as much as you run, or you're just very unlucky. Awareness too that Kraken only spawns in open waters when no world events are up so you can be aware of the risk

Will contact the underwater people and tell them to put a chain on the Kraken when a random player is near another random player... Besides, "enemy" ship? how do you know...maybe they wanted to chat
