Those with a high streak after a while go to sell the hourglass to cash in, and above all, not to risk reputation and money and then start from scratch. Here's my idea is this, it could be put that the reputation gained during a streak is recompensated even if you sink, the gold is lost but honestly because even the reputation, in the end if you make a streak of 5-6 it's still deserved reputation even if you sink at the seventh battle.
At least this way you avoid further waste of time going back and forth to sell and get the hourglass again. I say this because it happened to sink at 9-10 and sink only due to bad luck, and I think that many have happened and it's a little nervous to lose all your reputation so randomly, since in any case you have to make 1000 levels for both factions and given that sometimes it takes 30 min to find a game and then sink because fate wants it to sink, or worse still, you find 3 ships in an alliance, it doesn't seem like the best of life to me.
Let me know what you think.
thank you

Just because it wasn’t the intent of the design, it does not help that these goals are unrealistic for many casual players which in turn, makes it even harder for casuals as other casuals to match against drop out.

No average player will be enticed enough by 5 versions of the same figurehead and 10 titles to slog through 160ish matches. There’s not enough to motivate the average player. And sure. Let’s say the update wasn’t designed for the average player. But then what happened is you run out of easy targets, and we end up with a sweat fest that nobody enjoys engaging with.

Not to mention, encouraging players to go for a streak while also having MMR implementation makes no sense. If the MMR worked properly, nobody would ever reach champion status as the matches would be too long, slow, and evenly matched.

50% compensation for what you lost in your hourglass upon sinking would encourage people to build a streak, rather than turn in their rewards after every 2-4 wins because the risk of losing precious progress in this painful progression system is too high.

@lordqulex I can relate this to you in the post 100 xp curve. A win is about 1/3 of a level before being a champion. After being a champion its about 55% of a level. Doesn't matter if it's win 4 or 14. you get the same xp after being champ. Yesterday when I handed in a 5 streak, I got about 1 level. I know thag bigger streaks are worth more, and I believe it's grows linearly after #4 with the smaller streaks worth even less.

When you are champ or better, sure the streak is a nice bonus, but the win xp is pretty awesome. Not sure you should get any of it if you lose, it's the closest thing to loot the hourglass mode offers. And like loot, it's not yours till you cash it in.

I disagree, the hourglass may be considered loot to you, and its true that the loot is not yours until you cash it in, but keep in mind that loot can be hidden in an island to be recovered later, loot can saved by a crew that can escape successfully from the chasers, there are multiple ways to keep the loot safe other than fighting to defend the loot. The hourglass has only 2 outcomes, win or sink, and you can't escape because the circle will make the hourglass explode, you can't hide the hourglass as it is part of the ship. It is not the same from my perspective. I think the losing side should get more xp because they are putting time and effort just like the winner does.

But they didn't win. They don't deserve to be compensated equally for their time.

Perhaps not equally, but at least it must be close. The current system gives little xp or no xp at all if sailed out of bounds.

Being sailed out, or camped to the point of scuttling need to reward loss xp. Loss xp should be increased for your first like 3 losses in a day. But losing to the curses, shouldnt be a thing, and if it is, it should take a long long time.

I could agree with that, depending on how much the first 3 losses would be increased.

Thanks for the info on how it works. And yea I agree, the hourglass allegiance/gold is the "loot" for turning in hourglass. On the Sea of Thieves, the loot isn't yours until you turn it in.

I too am a little confused by this. When I sink a ship, I get allegiance. When I sink multiple ships, I get allegiance for sinking a ship multiplied by my streak bonus. The way I understand the system as explained in the video, the maximum multiplier is achieved at Faction Champion, or four sinks. Please correct me if I'm wrong because I've never, ever become a champion and not turned in immediately.

If you turn in a streak you get allegiance equal to... something. I don't honestly know if turning in a 200 streak gives you more allegiance than turning in a four streak. I understand the idea that failing to turn in a streak should give you some allegiance, I have floated the idea that it should give you half of what it would if you turned it in. I just honestly don't know what that allegiance is because I've never gotten above Faction Champion.

As per the sinking at high streaks, that's all part of the risk vs reward of the hourglass system. You have to make the choice to cash out, or to risk it all for one more fight. If there was no risk to sinking, then people would just never cash out, which defeats the whole point.
