What could be cool, would be if there were straps on the back of all of the rowboats where players could attach a keg if they happen to find any.

Probably the same way you defend against most kegs, kill them before they get there, and if you dont get them in time, back up and let them detonate then repair.

I think there should be a rowboat shop at every outpost...heck the foundation is already there with the rowboat dock at the Sovereigns.

You could buy a fresh rowboat of whatever type, upgrade one or downgrade one to exactly what you're looking for. I think it should be more creative than just a straight gold sink, though. Something that would be a resource burden and potential time-investment as well.

Standard Rowboat = 5k + Crate of Wood
Harpoon Rowboat = 7k + Crate of Wood
Cannon Rowboat = 5k + Crate of Wood + Crate of Cannonballs
Keg Rowboat = 5k + Crate of Wood + Keg

Then, you could make each rowboat upgradeable or downgradeable for just gold. Quick thoughts on those costs...

Standard ➡️ Harpoon = 7k
Standard ➡️ Cannon = 10k
Standard ➡️ Keg = 5k
Cannon ➡️ Harpoon = 2k
Cannon ➡️ Keg = 5k
Harpoon ➡️ Cannon = 10k
Harpoon ➡️ Keg = 5k
Keg ➡️ Cannon = 10k

...and you could even make rowboats a sellable item for the sake of it. Not much, but enough to make people want to dock it and clean up the seas a little bit after their session.

Those were fun... but i think they are so unbalanced. I mean one of em is enough to sink 2 galleons by itself.. was fun tho xD

Or at least have different color rowboats because after seeing that one with the reaper hull coloration I am spoiled and want more visuals!

PvP is player interaction though. And it's a rowboat with an explosive tied to it, it's pretty clear what type of interaction is going to happen.

I would love to see them come in about as rare as a cannon boat, but they absolutely NEED to return some day, they fit the tools not rules style of the game so much.

My best play with one was rowing up to a ship with it, seeing one of them sitting on the harpoon as i got close, grabbing me to stop me, so i just jumped off and lit it while the row boat just kept drifting closer to them. I manages to sink them successfully thanks to not having to hold the keg to get it closer, the row boats natural drift did it for me.

In all honesty, I don't care. Sure! Bring them back! Just another thing. Some people will like it, some won't, some won't care. I doubt it's crazy unbalanced or anything, but who knows?

I guess my main problem is Blurbs saying to bring them back because of "player interaction". But you him, "player interaction" is just "PvP". I get it's part of the game, but I'm so tired of Streamers pushing the narrative that the point of the game is to sink every ship you see. It's so annoying. I can't even compliment someone's ship name without them trying to sink me when I have no loot, no emissary flag. Yes, PvPvE, but not ALL interaction has to be centered around fighting.

I really thought they would have them still spawn just at a really small % chance. Usually when they add stuff like that something remains. Like skeletons spawning coming out of the ground with kegs was just part of a 2 week long even and that stuck around.

Anything is possible they might still add them in at some point. perhaps with flamehearts return.... however if the next update is supposed to be pvp focused not sure how these kind of rowboats might play into that

it was so fun to snipe it once and see it getting ready to blow and then putting about round in there to blow up the helm on a brig from the water lol

no idea why they would get rid of something like that
