<![CDATA[Character Seeds/Codes/ID's for Presets]]>

I haven't posted in a while but it really didn't come to me until now. My friend got this game a couple days ago and just today we we're going to play until he hit the character selection wheel. He wanted to find a character that looked like mine but it ended up taking around 7 hours just for us to play only for me to get off - that is how long he was in the selection menu. I'm serious!!

After that, it really just affected me that much that there should be some sort of format that you could give other players who like your character. There's already a section in the settings in the main menu called "Pirate Profile" where you could reset your character completely but why not fill that screen more by adding some sort of, hex code, or some sort of sequence for your character preset.

I get that characters are supposed to be unique due to the way they make their selection menu but it would make life a lot easier if there was a bit more detail you could add to it. I'll leave it up to the community now if you think this was worth the seven hours:

My character is on the left side and his is on the right side. Was it worth it? Or do you think a code/seed/ID would be more appreciated to make his choosing a lot better?

The left one is the one I made at launch (took a couple of hours to choose), the right one is one I made for testing....and was on the 2/3rd wheel spin of the IPG and took less than 5 mins.

It is possible to get a close match, just RNG.

To each their own, but spending any amount of time to create the same character model as a crewmate seems like a monumental waste of time. I hope to never run into a doppelganger of my pirate on the seas.

@necrositic 7 hours, that's plenty of time to find a ton of really good (or "bad") looking pirates. I like the fact that every pirate is unique. I spent a few hours picking mine 4 years ago. Never changing him!

Rare introduced the IPG so that pirates would be somewhat unique and different; the last thing I expect them to do is a way to create an almost similar pirate.

@necrositic No it wasn't worth it, your friend should have just made his own character not tried to copy you. Your friend spending 7 hours rerolling pirates says more about him than the pirate creation system.

I like the current way of pirate creation. Lots of colors and variations. Leads to pretty unique characters that players can grow to love with time.

Maybe I have only one small remark: if the animation could be a bit faster when new pirates are being generated.

Anyway, anyone who is looking for something specific should also be ready to spare some time in the creation screen.
