Grog

  • Am I missing something? Other than making you vomit, stumble around, play music poorly, and look hilarious - what does Grog do?

Maybe there should be some benefit to gulping lots of Grog, e.g. taking reduced damage from environment/mobs/combat whilst affected? I can't be alone in getting injured whilst drunk and feeling fine at the time, then sobering up and feeling broken šŸ˜‚

  • Its just for fun. What benefits would downing a tankard of rum give you in irl, the same as what the game currently gives you, stumbling, vomiting and playing an instrument very poorly.

  • @a10dr750 and feel less pain 😃

  • @longjohnnova not in the morning XD lol

You want it to do more than this? You literally just described it uses.
RP players love it, nice way to end a session, tools not rules matey!

  • It might numb pain but seeing as how this game has no pain stat, not sure it’s helpful.

There is health and there is the broken leg. Fixing a broken leg wouldn’t help as you would just be stumbling everywhere and have screen drift, fixing health is already covered by food in the game.

Reducing health loss both IRL and in the game is absurd.

  • @kommodoreyenser if anything, the deadening of pain is actually an issue, not a boon. You become unaware of how hurt you may actually be. If we really wanted to replicate this in game, alcohol could make it so you can't see your Health while under the influence leaving you unaware of just how hurt you might be.

It would be a flaw, not a boon.

Not that you brought this up specifically, more just adding on to what you said.

I actually like this idea of not being able to see your health meter while drunk.

I like it. Kinda like some of the stimulant effects in tarkov messing with vision and clarity.

  • In regard to numbing pain I figured in gameplay that would mean taking less hit damage for a period - e.g. a last resort to try and escape an onslaught, down all your grog and run/swim to the best of your ability.

Yes grog has functions already, tools not rules is correct, which is why I am saying can we make it more useful other than for 'RP' - or could we go the other way, drink too much and you just black out and die? 🤣

You can capture the vomit in a bucket and toss it in someone’s face to partially blind them for a few seconds. Does that count? Or would you categorize that under ā€œuses for vomit?ā€ That is a sentence I didn’t anticipate typing when I woke up today.

  • should be some benefit to gulping lots of Grog,

Even tho we are allowed to drink. It’s not encouraged so it’s okie. But with this. You are basically telling kids ā€œto receiver good things you must drinkā€

Also, it’s a no anyways just for the sake of it.
    No to added bonuses

That is actually quite useful, but there are much easier and less inconvenient ways of getting your character to throw up. Eating worms or raw animal meat comes to mind. Still, it is one (actually useful) use for grog.
