I have no problem with people being able.to purchase Row Boats.

Just as long as the price is a minimum of a 100k.

If I was in charge of setting in game pricing I would have them cost 250k. 300k for a harpoon. 500 k for one with a cannon.

This is a significant conundrum when it comes to paying for advantages

anything other than affordable is significantly more imbalance to the dangerous shared environment

and making them affordable doesn't do much for getting rid of some gold

this is why imo the session friendly rng is the appropriate approach as it's not hard to find one, requires some effort which should be encouraged, and doesn't just feed right into wealthy pvpers that aren't producing new loot on servers that hop and pop pvers.

Lantern Rowboat = Purchase or In World
Harpoon Rowboat = In World
Canon Rowboat = Skeleton Fleet Loot

So, if you just want a real general Rowboat you could elect to drop coin on it, or you could go find one (or get a better one with Harpoon) if you are willing to invest the time. And finally, if you want that extra firepower you need to get out there and engage with the server by doing a World Event (or stealing one from a Crew who has one or left one somewhere before it despawns), consequently I think Cursed Balls should be relegated to the Skeleton Fleet as well to add more value to that Event (maybe on Active Forts as well). I'd sell them at the Shipwright, though, for the selling part of it.

This would add a sense of mechanical parity to these as it does Supplies now that those are up for grabs in that you can Buy the basics, or you can go out and find the slightly better stuff, and some real unique stuff is locked behind doing Ghost Ships out in the world (or on the side of Food killing Megs or Krakens).

I'm also open, at this point, to Gold Hoarders selling a single Empty Collectors Chest to a Crew (like the Storage Crate) for a Cost greater than what it Sells for (so maybe a few thousand Gold). None of these actually provide a significant enough advantage in my experience, as all can be acquired rather quickly if you just get out there so I don't agree that the QoL of these things offsets stuff terribly as long as a level hand is applied to it all.

Adventure was designed to be the long play and arena the condensed action and shorter play

what is adventure? unpredictability, personal challenges, the unknown, exploration, seeing what happens

all this type of QoL does is make the game predictable and less challenging and plays into a type of gameplay that doesn't produce.

People look past it because it makes their session easier but it comes with a consequence to the balance within the environment and food chain, consequences that are more apparent now than ever imo.
