I'm a diligent reporter for MS. If you disrespect me, or XBL, by being rude or by cheating and/or not playing fair (going AFK, team-killing, trolling, etc.), you will get reported. If it's a common thing that you do repeatedly and others have already likewise reported you, then it's very likely that I will receive an XBL message moments later from XBL itself informing me that "action has been taken on someone you recently reported; thank you for making XBL a better place for others."

"Noob" is not bannable FYI. Also I have reported (with video) of guys saying "KYS" and this is apparently also not bannable.

If you want to report people, you need to open a support ticket with screenshot or video and catch them in the act.

at the end of the day here is the problem, who says what is offensive or toxic? we already have a problem with people getting reported for sinking a ship. even in your own post you say "But I received even bigger insults like "You're not up to it"" "Your not up to it" isn't an insult, isn't toxic, and honestly isn't even a little bit offensive.

again we are talking about words, and words from a person that isn't even in front of you. laugh at the little kid and tell them how small they are being, then go on with your life. really there isn't much more to it than that unless we are going to ban everyone for everything.

There are no standards for offensive. Some don't let things bother them and some like me just find anger funny including my own.

Last night I took some dude's reaper chest at the reaper's hideout and he (in a short fit of rage) gave me a colorful example of words that he uses for special occasions. Should this kid be banned? of course not, he doesn't know me he's not targeting me based on anything he knows about me he just got upset and had a fit. Sometimes you just gotta let people be people even when they aren't showing their best versions and let it slide

Maybe he had a bad day. Maybe things are going rough for him. Maybe he's dealing with stuff. Maybe he's just an unpleasant dude who knows. Targeting people based on personal stuff ain't cool but someone getting upset and blindly raging on a game isn't something to take personal.

And this is zero tolerance, standing up and say something against it.

I can and have or need to bear alot things in my live, i can do that to some degree, but there is a fine line and some like and justify it too often to cross this line like it's naturally or not a big deal.

there are snowflakes, i dont want to protect over sensible persons who feel insulted because i looked at them the way i do, but i'm rather to protect an overly sensible person than help justifying toxicity and play it down.

But you know what, from my expereince in this forum, i'm already a Don Quichote on that matter.
No worries, do what you like i think nobody here is one of the players who is overly toxic.
The ones i know from the forums i have blocked already and i don't hesitate to block such people if i get aware of how they think.

a lot here to unpack, but i think you might be right about this being a cultural thing.

1. yes i live in the USA and we are either very thick or very thin skinned, I'll let you determine what flavor of American i am
2. i don't know where in the world you live, but where i live we have the freedom to say whatever we want. its our way of life, perhaps my "calling the cops" statement may not have been useful here.
3. yes i do have a small child. She is 5
4. if someone insults her i talk to her about it. I help her understand that people are allowed to say whatever they want, and its only words. Thankfully no one has said anything too bad to my little girl or i would likely not have internet access in my 3x3 cell ;)
5. if Nazzi's or anyone else starts saying stupid things, i act the same. I tend to give ignorant people the rope they need to hang themself. understand that we are talking about words, and words are only harmful if you let them be. this is even more true when the words are spoken from a child (like is mostly the case in this and other games)

TLDR: I think you and i may just be different kinds of people. if this kind of thing bothers you that much maybe a violent video game isn't the spot for you to relax. (absolutely no disrespect intended)

People are flawed. Every one of us. What are we really accomplishing by turning mole hills into mountains out of language that we personally don't agree with?

What goes around has a way of coming around. That goes for people that are unpleasant and that goes for people that want to police others over imperfections. Not everyone digs how I talk not everyone digs how you talk. We all speak in a way that offends someone somewhere. I don't much get the personal philosophy behind narc'ing on or policing minor infractions.

sorry for circumventing the profanity filter, to try to make clear what i meant.

i encounter this regularily, be it on the loser or the winners side.
this is the "normal" quality of speech a lot of people try to justify and call it banter only.
But the tone how something is said is important too!
To me this is pure toxicity because of exageration about a video game and not beeing able to stay playfull, relaxed and playing for fun.
A lot of gamers are so eager and serious they have strong feeelings and a bad education what is revealed easily and very quickly when it comes to PvP, its sour losers and the tocix bullies in games who would get slapped irl if they behave like this and because they dont have the balls to do it irl, they need to vent and behave like jerks in videogames, passive agressiveness and such.
Tons of Gamers are exactly that.

even all of what your are saying I'm 100% fine with. that's just trash talk and not a problem. lets all keep in mind that this is a video game that includes shooting people, theft, blowing people up, impaling people with swords, sharks eating people, Tentacle monsters doing strange things to people (OK well the Kraken anyways), and other "adult themed" content. A few bad words shouldn't be that big of a thing. and people being sore sports is all just part of life. The real bannable stuff (in my opinion) is the hate stuff, racist and sexist stuff. i mean its very much like walking down the street and someone starts yelling at you, and using profanity. are you going to run to a cop and try to get the guy arrested, or just ignore him and move on with your day?

See, at best we would all take the pirate code serious and treat is as a code of honor, an unwritten law everybody follows like we have undertood that killing each other irl is not very productive.

You can mute everyone. btw, you need to do that every session, afaik it wont keep others muted, you have to do that everytime you login, may be wrong, but if you got insulted its to late.

I for sure have also emotions while playing and i fur sure got upset because something went wrong and not the way i expected or wanted it to be, but i can a) control this and b) its something that occurs for a second and then i laugh again, maybe about myself who has been slipped on the ice. Nip it in the bud i say, dont accept this inapropriate behaviour and dont play it down, it has nothing to do with playing or having fun.

I know we cannot get rid of it entirely, there will allways be some who need to go ahead and learn something, become more educated, controlled and empathic, and some never will be, but to play it down or ignore it is not the way.

I'm from germany, i can see some political parties arise again allover the world.
"This please i should be allowed to say..." is how they allways justify their racist slurs - no sorry you are not!

no sexism, no talk about my parents, kids, neighbours, ethnies in a derogative, insulting way.
You can do that at home, with your related people, it's private, do whatever you want, you can rant there by heart, i do as well sometimes, but in a videogame, where dad or mom play with their kids, where everyone is welcome, were kids play that sound younger than my daughter and for sure are only 12 or so, where a lot of girls and women- we have some wonderfull piratess in our crew, where people of all ethnies, religions and what not are welcome - there is no room for any form of toxcity.

If you lack to control your feelings and you allways need to vent and get upset and cross the line of impeccable good taste then we as a community need to stand up and say, sorry bro' this is not the players we want or accept here. Get in line, control yourself, stay playfull and somewhat mpathic with your fellow players or you have to leave.
This is a videogame, if you have problems that make you such a hatefull person, solve them and then you are welcome to comeback and provide to a pirate adventure game as a dread pirate, but nice and caring player.

Sorry, but the ignore it, block it and mute it is not what it solves any problems, but gives them the room to flourish and silently grow bigger and bigger until the whole community is a trashtalking mess.

This game wanted to provide a social experience. I can refuse to make a social experience when the majority is
online jerks and bullies who need to compensate something.

If we PvP there is always 1 crew we encounter who is overly toxic be it the sour loser or the winner who feels the need to call you a mf bot etc...

Sorry, but not acceptable. I report everyone crossing the line - completely unneccessary and it shows what kind of gamers they are - they provide nothing, absolutely nothing to the community or the game.

Therefore i always said Arena attracts the wrong people and we know the numbers about toxicity reports in relation, dont we.

No sir, i have zero symapthy and zero acceptance for that. People should grew up and we as a community, society and what not should not turn around and ignore this, but stand firm, tell them its inacceptable and ask them to rethink their actions and become better fellow players or leave.

the pirate code rightly doesn't follow it anybody. But I received even bigger insults like "You're not up to it" and said with annoying arrogance. You also mention the bad talk of family members and it happened to me during another game session

Bans should be few and far between

In Italy we use video games to have fun, not to be insulted both in a vulgar and not vulgar way... I've often received insults like "YOUR MOTHER HURT YOU" and yesterday's was the straw that made the pot overflow
