How are people going faster than me?

    Three times now a galleon has outrun my sloop despite my sails having favorable winds. Every single time the galleon somehow gets close enough to me that they can harpoon me and sink me. What am I missing? Im employing ever possible strategy of outrunning a larger ship, but they always somehow catch up to me.

    @scatterbrained9 go against the wind...and I mean exactly against it...then center your sails...
    The galleon can't catch up at all this way...

    @scatterbrained9 also, what do you mean your sloop had favorable winds?

    Depends on the ship, how far your sails are set down, the angle of the sails, and the direction of the wind. Play with all these inputs to maximize speed. If you hear carribean steel drums play, you're at max speed with catching the wind.

    Sloops are the slowest with full wind but the fastest without. So next time a galleon or brig is chasing you in a sloop I would go directly against the wind since they are slower than you that way.
