But they only have two uses, activating the FOTD or selling for some dubloons...but what if there was more we could do with them?</p>
<p dir="auto">I would like to put forward an idea to further their use. Player activated world events!</p>
<p dir="auto">How many times have you launched the game, got into a server and saw a flameheart up, spewing his nonsense about getting off his seas? What do you do then? I usually hop servers for a better world event. But what if you didn't have to? What if you could collect a ritual skull, go to any of the skeleton forts and activate it with a skull? The skull cloud could be red again to show it's a player activated one.</p>
<p dir="auto">The same thing for skeleton ships (if you're really hunting for that awesome title). In the areas that skeleton ship fleets spawn, let there be a partially sunk skeleton ship with a skeleton captain on it, missing it's head. Simply place the ritual skull on its body to activate a skeleton fleet.</p>
<p dir="auto">With player activated world events, I think you could partially stop 20%-30% of server hopping for a new world event, and it would encourage people to stay on a server. It would give players a little more freedom on what they want to do, while also providing some more pvp encounters.</p>
<p dir="auto">EDIT: People seem to be confusing this post with a post about alliance servers, please make your own posts on that subject. That decision lies with Rare not me.</p>

I for example participated in early events and preamde alliances were no thing, you had to risk it.<br>
I was betrayed, i betrayed myself...<br>
Who risks a regular formed Alliance for commendations today?<br>
Nobody.<br>
2019 Festival of Giving, not many have the Title Giver of Gifts and did it regularily, no they cheesed it.<br>
Same for stolen Athena's etc.</p>
<p dir="auto">Rare made a huge mistake with Forts in 2018.<br>
Forts were rare, spawned random every 3 to 4 hours, it was a PvP Magnet, sometimes whole servers fought for the back then worthy loot. A hull was 75.000 and you were lucky to get 15-20k from a Fort you had to fight for with mulitiple ships. Others could maybe do their thing more uncontested.<br>
But gamers started to hop servers to find active forts like today FotD and Emissarys or a server without a R5 emissary and whatnot.<br>
And Rare did not restrict that but made Forts available every 20-30 minutes.<br>
that was when things started to get wrong and meant nothing anymore.</p>
<p dir="auto">Events arent rare and random anymore, arent special and make everybody yell OHHH a FORT, turn around, on the sails you lousy landlubbers stuf you know.<br>
people got excited and fought hard.<br>
Now almost everything is accessible and easy to get, easy to cheese.<br>
From my PoV this is bad and takes a lot away.<br>
I'm a sandbox open ffa PvP player since UO, i apreciate the tension, the immersion possible with stuff like this.<br>
But people cheesing it all and ask for everything controllable is a no for me.<br>

<p dir="auto">i have to admit to me SH is cheesing and i for myself dont use exploits per principle, except the lunge what is accepted, but if you ask me and i had to sacrifice the lunge to remove all exploits, i'm happily refusing to use it and sacrifice it.</p>
<p dir="auto">yes gamers gaming systems are an annoyance to me.<br>
Nothing new, happens since the 90ies and since i play online games.<br>
I never understood why players cannot play like intended, and the game clearly shows it's random in many aspects.<br>
I'm a founder, play since tech. Alpha and this game is to some degree the best game for a decade for me.<br>
Because of the sandbox character (wha to me does not include exploiting or SH'ing as a feature) and the horizontal progression etc...<br>
It's what i wanted since i played Ultima Online in 1999 if you maybe know.<br>
I really dislike "levels and itemization" stuff as it is never balanced.<br>
And now the gamers exagerate even at horizontal rep levels and cosmetics.</p>
<p dir="auto">btw if you can start the event you want, why wait for it to spawn random?<br>
See i not only dont dislike stuff like this i am very happy, that after 36years of playing video games a developer made a game like this.<br>
Although some things went completely wrong the last 3 years i still apreciate it to have a game like this around.<br>
My biggest gripe is the gamers gaming systems and not having / roleplaying a pirate adventure, not accepting randomness, not caring for the pirate code as a code of honor but be dulled by games and communities like LoL, Overwatch, Fortnite and such where toxicity is normal, where trahstalk is normal, where exploiting is normal etc...</p>
<p dir="auto">Your request sounded to me like a PVE Server request and a try to change the game fundamentally.<br>
It would take away from my wanted experiences and the way the game is intended.<br>
It would take away what it means to "play" the game and not game the system.</p>
<p dir="auto">I know, majority is playing like this and that makes me very sad and sometimes even desperated.<br>
But i fight this aproach for long time and i dont see why Devs need to cater to gamers who generally dont accept the Games core concept and design, but cheese it all day!</p>
<p dir="auto">it's somehow ok they dont care, but if they start catering to it (hopping for whatever reason) i will quit over time for sure. And that is nothing i want to do, because the crew and me have still a lot of fun, although we have almost everything in thihs game.</p>

<p dir="auto">This would enhance player interaction! How many people would rather hop a server than deal with a flameheart that stays up for an hour because someone started it? This would get people to stay on a server and activate their own event, and signal to other players that there are actual pirates there doing that event.</p>
<p dir="auto">Unless you built up a TON of ritual skulls, a ship could not sit at a fort for 10 hours straight, but even if they did, this is no different than a FOTD, which is already in the game. Again what I'm describing is simply an extension of that available game mechanic.</p>
<p dir="auto">And finally for alliance servers, look Rare has had the ability to change that since its inception, they haven't, you need to deal with that.</p>

The bad thing is , these gamers are too often jerks , bullies , less empathic , overly agressively trashtalkers etc. ...<br>

Look at emissaries. A lot of people think it was a good update. Introduced new mechanics, gave out new cosmetics, gave a reason to do voyages, and increased the level cap so even those at level 50 would have a reason to do it. But to an alliance server, it's just a 2.5x multiplier. You know those people just grinded away. They hit PL and level 75 easier because of emissaries. So should it have never been added? Of course not. Just because a small minority will use it to boost their progress doesn't mean it shouldn't be added. Same with the Fort of the Damned. You just know alliance servers had a field day with that one. But a lot of people like it. High value player activated world event which is often contested. Should it never have been added? No. Anything that gets added will be grinded away at by alliance servers.</p>

<p dir="auto">But there is a way that is not playing like intended but trying to circumvent the randomness build in by a Gamedesigners intention you dont like and cannot accept.</p>
<p dir="auto">Because its possible to endlessly hop Servers it is not a feature of the game , its not an ingame mechanic, it's at best lazy and knowingly have a loophole to game the system. Maybe even extra, but nothing the majority of players playing regularily or the devs need to care for.<br>
Else you'd not need to ask for an ingame feature or get upset when you have to wait some seconds because of an immersive animation when you login etc...</p>
<p dir="auto">Play like you want but if you ask for features that imho arent intended and are straight against the core ideas of the game - and we had tons of these ideas here for 3 or even 4 years - then dont complain if some founders disagree and say no and also explain why.</p>
<p dir="auto">May i ask you why do you think its random and not an option from beginn?<br>
You may consider all the random elements are a design choice some like, especially in combination with horizontal progression and no gamemechanical influence, only titles, cosmetics and such.</p>
<p dir="auto">What you dont see is , your type of gamer and many streamers and such destroy communitys, split them , exagerate about gaming and what was there in the beginning of SoT "social experiences" , you refuse to see the roleplay and random aspects and have a meritocracy aproach for gaming?!<br>
The bad thing is , these gamers are too often jerks , bullies , less empathic , overly agressively trashtalkers etc. ...<br>
Not all, but a lot!</p>
<p dir="auto">To me PvP hopping is like reverseboosting and really pitifull and hopping for events or to create Alliance Servers and grind or to get away from a Server with a Reaper 5 or whatnot is not playing the game and dealing with the hand you got dealed, but to ask for a new Hand until you think that fit's.</p>
<p dir="auto">Do it as long as it is possible, i dont bother, but if you ask or make suggestions deal with others disagreeing.</p>

<p dir="auto">Skull forts</p>
<p dir="auto">Let's say I want to start my session  with a regular skull fort, before I can do that I have to go find and chase a skelly ship or do some random dig map and hope I find a ritual skull. There goes 30 minutes or more before starting my fort. Right now players can load the ship and head right to a fort and start doing what want.</p>
<p dir="auto">New players</p>
<p dir="auto">How would new players know how to start a world event or how to get a ritual  skull and what to do with said ritual skull? Which is why the random world event system works just fine.</p>
<p dir="auto">"Sandbox" or "exploit"</p>
<p dir="auto">If I wanted to make gold and reputation easy I could just farm flameheart and skelly fleets for endless supply crates ritual skulls and loot for gh,oos,ma or sell everything at reapers. These can be done solo or in an alliance.</p>
<p dir="auto">Not every world event needs to be player activated or should require a ritual skull to start up. Fotd is the exception!</p>

<p dir="auto">It's almost as if the other players your complaining about are...playing the game the way they want to. Sea of Thieves is a sandbox game, there isn't one way to play it correctly.</p>

<p dir="auto">The way that Rare (from my understanding) has always described Sea of Thieves is first and foremost a sandbox game where players create their own stories on the seas through open gameplay. I think a lot of people lose sight of this, there is no power progression in this game, it's all based on cosmetics. I find is soo disheartening for people to bash others playstyles in this game.</p>
