Chat banned words in Spanish are ridiculous

  • So, I've been playing since the game released and i've always found funny that words like [Mod edited] which means milk and [Mod edited] which means cool are banned. Even [Mod edited] simple and plain coffee with milk is banned, the whole thing. [Mod edited]

But there are other words like [Mod edited] which are alowed.

And I'm sure there are tons more and in more languajes, and its so stupid that normal words are banned, while others that should be banned are not. I know it's a minimal, almost imperceptible thing, but it's there.

  • Also, Rare, please dont just ban my post. I think it's quite instructive and usefull, I'm not using banned words for the sake of using them or to refer to a diferent player.

  • @MoonlightGlm Please refrain from posting words banned by the chat filter on the forums. It is a violation of our forum rules, and your post has been edited accordingly.

  • I don't even have a clue what words you said, but it's hilarious how both you and Rare have responded to this situation. Didn't take 'em long to find your post and {mod edit} it!

  • @arctroopachedda Its just normal words, thats the most anoying part of all. I want to know why some absolutely normal words like milk or cool in spanish are banned, and others that are banned in english arent in spanish. I wont repeat them but you can look for translations I guess. I dont get it.
And Rare seems to not care at all about checking their sources for them, I didnt write the post just because. Now I see they just wont read it, and take it like a post full of bad languaje that can be ignored.

  • @moonlightglm my only guess would be that they mean yet something else in a different language and tbag might be why.

His edited words are incorrectly banned in the filter. Just editing his post is actually not helping the topic very much. Just fix the filter because as he said, things as simple as the Spanish translation for “milk” are banned which is ridiculous.

  • I used 1 of your words as an example and looked it up. Milk in Spanish can also refer to AHEM the stuff that helps men make babies in women.

The word cool in Spanish, is used in World of Warcraft and there refers to a person who dominates, controls, or manipulates others. So yeah...

    They don’t.

  • @galactic-geek Even in english you can use milk or mayo that way, for the same reasons you do in spanish, come on. Lets not speak, everything is a sexual or a political incorrect inuendo. Just grab a friend and start trying words, I'm sure you'll find some that can be used in the same way that arent banned. Eggs, it isnt banned but everyone knows what you mean in a non literal way.
Make the filter be languaje sensitive.
Also, how come gay is allowed but person with a diferent gender isnt? I mean it should be allowed, they even have an LGTB shirt (i cant write it but you get it)

Things like this aren’t the actual terms for what you’ve said. It is simply native speakers referring to them is these in joking terms. This regardless shouldn’t mean that Spanish speaking players couldn’t type that they’re going for a glass of milk or something.

  • @illbushido305 exactly, imagine having something like a name, Robert, banned. There is an actual spanish name banned, I couldnt call a friend I was playing with by his name because it was banned. (If your curious its the same name as the actual president of Spain)

  • Where's hombre.

We can't even @ or quote him

  • @moonlightglm I’m not sure about chat but I noticed the name “Pedro” being a very common Spanish name, is actually banned for pets.

  • @moonlightglm are you talking in a dialect maybe...I often write in my dialect...these words aren't getting banned, because the system doesn't recognize them...

    I can't name my cat Felix in-game, so... 😥

  • @illbushido305 yep, thats the one. You cant put it in the chat.

  • @schwammlgott I'm not, and I'm pretty sure of it.
Of course depends of what you consider a dialect, but I'm talking Spanish not Latin, and even then, most words I complained about are comon ground.

  • As someone who speaks Spanish, I can confirm that a lot of stupid words are banned. One super stupid one is part of the word Cannonball. In Spanish we say: "Bola de cañón". Bola, means ball, but, we can't right it as hey, it's banned.

Jacket in spanish, is banned. Potato in Spanish is also banned... If we ban common words that we use in our lives just because they can get sexualized, then, ban all the words.

  • Just use party chat and say whatever u want.

  • @eggamer13 said in Chat banned words in Spanish are ridiculous:

Potato is also banned? This is an outrage! Not being able to talk about the world’s best spud is something nobody should suffer through! Rare needs to change this immediately!
Oh, jacket is also important too, or something.

  • This has been brought up before. Whatever potato for a brain authoritarian set this up in the first place doesn't care about Spanish speakers being able to have intelligible conversations I guess. Take it to twitter and say Rare hates the Spanish, and maybe you'll get better traction.

Its kinda ridiculous in english too but mostly I just run into it with all the other words I have for someone being an authoritarian.

  • @dekeita if they were a potato for a brain, you’d think they’d have the common sense to make sure “potato” would be translated and censored properly into Spanish.

  • @arctroopachedda hmmm perhaps. I wonder if potatoes contemplate the nature of potatoe-ness. When they take off their jackets and enjoy the fresh milk of their fellow potatoe, afterwards do they wonder what does it mean to be a potatoe?

One can never know inside the mind of such a creature. Only a select few are privy to such delightful thoughts.

  • What's taters Precious? WHAT'S TATERS!?!??!??!!
