I have an asus 1440p 144z monitor with built in crosshair, wireless logitech g502 with thumb buttons and a g910 keyboard with macro recording settings :D

I don't use marco's though, easier to do it without them...

@bugaboo-bill they can’t ban you owning any device. Using a macro key is absolutely detectable though and games can ban or allow accordingly. Just understanding how key logging and macros work tells that.

People will always try to get an advantage in any game that versus other players. The question is what each developer allows or does not. No one wants to be banned in a video game that actually cares to progress in it and therefore most will follow the rules.

There will always be those few hundred players out there that don’t care and are just out to “feel” like they are better and those are the toxic gaming folks using hack programs such as aimbots and ESP programs. They use those and play while calling everyone else bad. They are oblivious to how bad they themselves are.

Edit: Rare at first didn’t have a stance on most of this. They have slowly made it public about each issue as it has come up. Obvious programs that hook into game code will always be banned for every game. Macros became an issue with double gun and they addressed it and said any further use will result in a ban.

I am perfectly accepting of them banning in this way. Retroactive bans for things like macros though are sort of harsh since they took no official stance on it previously.

I believe the same can be said for monitor built in crosshair software. If they want to start banning for it, first they are going to have to figure out a way to detect it and then make an official announcement (one guy with a “support ticket” doesn’t count) and then ban going forward.

There is no way they can ban a Keyboard or Mouse Software that give you macro tools for example.

• 1440p 144hz 1ms monitor and decent GPU to drive it, check
• Gaming mouse with DPI toggle, check but don't ever toggle in this game, thumb button pad would be nice but those mice are too heavy for my liking
• Gaming keyboard with macro button pad, check but never used them at all, collected dust for the last 5 years over on the side.
• Virtual 7.1 surround headset, check and honestly this does feel LIKE cheating at times in some games. Instead of a side or 180 degree left and right, I can estimate a player's position within about 30 degrees.
• Sprint carry, cancel dig? Nah I am too lazy for all that button mashing.

@greengrimz I'll be honest, I don't often take peoples words for things so make of that what you will.

As I said I don't use one anyway so just here for the ride.

a 144hz monitor is just better hardware. That's like complaining that your potato pc can't have good fps so everyone else must have bad fps.

Thumb buttons are moving the inputs to a better area, not allowing that would be like not letting someone put the keyboard close to their hand.

Macros are actual cheats that the devs have said are not allowed.

A headset is required because speakers are expensive and don't allow mics, you would still need a headset for game chat. Also, Discord and Teamspeak are both allowed since there is an official Sea of Thieves Discord server with crew voice chats.

Animation cancelling is known by the devs and not fixed for a reason. Run-carrying and quick digging don't give anyone an advantage, the only possible combat use for run-carrying is swimming kegs out to a ship which is a stupid tactical decision anyway.

Yes, "git gud learn to play the game", because games require knowledge in order to play them. You don't see many people complaining that Siege is a bad game because it doesn't teach you how to aim the gun, do you?

Unfortunately for you and all the other purely casual SoT players out there, this game (like pretty much all other games) has strategies and metas that the tutorial doesn't teach you.

Like I told you several times already, the ToS mentions long-range terms like "hacking" and "cheating" without specifying every single thing people can come up with.

It's done this way especially for people like you, who think they can outsmart the system by saying something absurd like "Let's go ahead and use this here crosshair which Rare decided NOT to integrate themselves to their game...because it's not specifically pointed in the ToS."

The ToS provides Rare with the choice to make the final call on what's wrong and right. This is the reason they are against crosshairs, but not against Discord. We're in their world, we will do what they tell us. Thinking otherwise, or that you can cheese their own ToS, is simply naive and childish, at the very least.

Like I said (again, several times) it only takes a dash of common sense to come to the conclusion that crosshairs are not ok to use. Hence why I could tell before I even opened the ticket.

exactly bro.... the game has build in voice chat... Meaning anyone using discord is using a 3rd party application to modify the games experience to give them advantages, compared to the ones not using it so other crews can hear...

But yeah, it only takes common sense to come to the same conclusion. Like I said 10 times already - try going on a tournament for a game which doesn't have an integrated crosshair (like SoT) and tell the referees "It's OK, I'll just stick this here little dot to my monitor ... I mean, it's not against the TOS specifically anyway, so why not" .

Ignore all the comments about "you need that dpi and that sensitivity". It's all about personal preference. Do you use more of your arm while playing? Or are you a wrist user? That's the main focus point, some like high dpi, some like low, it's all based on how you prefer to play and what suits you. Nothing is better than the other.

Focus on the centre of your screen, always imagine where the centre of the aim is, which is centre of the screen. And keep that invisible aim on target and go for a quick scope. Practice on the bell on your ship under idle sailing, jump around and aim for the bell. Everything else is just practice.
