Seems similar to my experience the 16th early in the morning. I wanted to pick-up a reaper's chest close to the Sea Dog island when I saw it high in the sky with some loot floating in the water below it. Luckily I could harpoon it.

A while ago, I grabbed up a reaper's chest but didn't take it out of a shipwreck (the other treasures I did take with me); when I came around later the shipwreck was gone but the Reaper's chest was still there below the surface of the water (thus not floating up).

I know I may be sounding cliché at this point, but outside of the few times I got dropped into the water for firing myself from it back in the early days, I never really had any issues with cannons, like ever.
Ahh.
I've been getting loads of instances recently where all of a sudden I can't move at all, completely frozen, then my ship goes underwater or slowly tilts upside down or sideways or upright or I fall of for no reason and end up at the bottom of the sea then all of a sudden again things go back to normal and i'm back near the helm with no blackscreen or anything. This can last up to 20 seconds or so or it sometimes ends up with a beard error and I have to rejoin. It's not great if you're in the middle of an encounter or heading towards a rock or something, especially solo. Hasn't happened on insider.

I am happy with a bugfix update. We'll see.

This isn't a bug; it's a classic sign of connection problems.

Your ship continues to rotate or float/sink because the game client predicts ship movement based on the last known position, rotation and direction of travel in order to make the ship appear to move smoothly between data packets. It will do this until you timeout or get new data, which will update the position of the ship and all of the players which is why you get snapped back into place.

You'll likely continue to see things like this after this update if it's being caused by network congestion, latency or some other connection problem.

Have to agree with ya. Personally I don't feel like these updates add fresh content to the game. Sure, the bosses and ghost ships are cool. However, they all reward the same thing. Gold.
The issue is, gold is only used for buying cosmetic items, and if you are not interested in them then you have no reason to do these events.

I think they should work on other stuff at this point. We have a lot of ways to earn gold, but only one way to spend it.

We have a big empty world. I'm sure they can add more activities that don't revolve around killing something and selling its loot.

SoT has been sold as a Games as a Service though; new content is expected.

i bought it as an online muliplayer game. i never really expected monthly content updates any more than i expected them for quake or rust or whatever. imo if you need to regularly add gimmicks and whatnot to the game, the gameplay must be lacking.

You're getting more than you bought it for then I guess; still doesn't change that it was sold as a GaaS. Stopping with new content would cause issues, certainly for a next game they might want to sell as one. They can change the frequency though, or skip a month once and again in favour of QoL and bug fixes.

Lacking gameplay was one of the complaints at launch IIRC. I have enjoyed the game since just right after launch, enjoyed the once-in-the-three-months big updates as well as the bilge rat ones who some labelled as repetitive. But I don't think I would have paid full price if it would be just the game as at launch.

Then again I bought it for the PvE to do alone or with others with the added risk of losing what you find.

at launch, the game clearly lacked content. but i think SoT is now at a point that yet more fotm clouds in the skies arent what is needed. for whatever reason all these things they add dont really seem to keep people engaged, and i can only conclude its down to the gameplay somehow. its surely not the repetition, cos there is nothing more repetitive than a CS 24/7 dust server, yet those kept people engaged for years.

I think they should disable some events in a server when they introduce a new one or really up the frequency of the new one (such as 1 in 2 events); waiting until the new one pops up can take quite a bit from a crew's available session time and they may not be in the mood to waste their supplies at fort # 501 for example.

On the bright side, hardly anybody bothers with me while I am ferrying Reaper Bounties to the Reaper's Bones (still have some to go) when the new event is active.

we shouldnt need monthly 'content updates' if the game features solid gameplay and the most annoying QoL issues are addressed. games like CS had people packing 24/7 dust servers for years on end without clamouring for 'more content'.

Not a fan of these monthly events and have never felt bothered to ever do one of them, as I have more than enough ship skins, cosmetics and loot to last me a lifetime. So this will not entice me to play.
And as for the QOL patches, time will tell I guess. A few months ago we had one of these updates to prepare for the steam launch and it caused more problems than it fixed.

Im afraid I need actual content to keep me playing nowadays as I have played everything several times over, (excluding last few updates which haven't interested me) as it is more of the same and in the same format of complete x50 etc etc, and that has finally become tiresome for me to even begin thinking about working on.

Had a feeling 2020 would see a big demise of this game, and even though its sales were vast a few months ago, its hemorrhaging players at 25% a month since,

More of the same monotonous updates won't help that.

I'm torn to be honest. Personally I want more content, but there's also a lot of stuff to fix, and it just keeps getting worser. Last night I encountered a shipwreck, without a ship! Just a bunch of planks/fruits/loot floating. Some above the water (in the air), some slightly under, but static nonetheless.

Something else worries me more than bugs and lack of updates though. Some of the bigger names in the gaming industry are getting new seasons and expansions very soon. This is DEFINITELY not a good time for a "silent" patch. Fire must be fought with fire!

I used to play every day but over the past month or so that has reduced to a couple times a week.

I still have plenty of commendations to work on to keep me going.
