@friedwilly It should not be treasure at least how I know. Other parts is getting into the storm during night, in game clock item is somewhat essential to follow. For us it was achieved going into the dark part as others say, and in some moments it registered. All lanterns on and in the boat need to be turned off.
It feels like it is generally finnicky, because I did fail attempts - one sneaky thing that happens is daybreak happening during getting to the storm. It is not clear from within the storm, only when you get out and realize that it had happened. Starting your sail towards the storm depending how far you are from it at 6pm ingame time is good idea as the storm has ability to be further than it seems.

Good luck - you need a little bit of it too.

If you want, you can try just swapping your outfit around for this, just to see if it could be it, or take everything off for a while. Voodoo always helps to feel better about your mission.

@sumea-seven My ship was bone stock and my character had no curse or light emitting cosmetics. In fact my character is wearing most of the 'Rose' cosmetics.

The only light emitting item on my first two tries were a villanous skull. My last try had no light emitting anything.

Going to try this one more time with just my shorts and default ship.

I tested this as well, it seems that the Ashen Curse might be affecting it as I didn't get it with it on (despite the time and everything being perfect).

I took off the Ashen Curse (and Reapers weapons to default) and I got the reward for it so it might be the Ashen Curse affecting it, not sure about the Reapers Heart weps though.

@friedwilly you have anything like Ashen Curse, something on your person/equipment that emits light? I am not sure if ghost set could be bugged like said I could not test this but if it is a bug it would likely be more things for the player character than just that one Curse.

I was thinking while thinking that possibility that emeralds rubies and sapphires could also be counted as light sources thanks their very light emissive nature but we had two in our boat while trying this, and we had them still when we got it, after removing the Ashen Curse.

Sailed through 3 storms at night, no lanterns on and did not get credit for this event.

I sailed from one side of the storm to the other and yet no reward.

@realstyli on another thread someone mentioned removing ashen curse and getting it too so... It is seemingly being solidified little by little.

Okay, we still need some more people to test it and confirm it works as well as people doing it with those cosmetics to see if anyone gets it with them equipped. If no-one can get it with the Ashen Curse on, then it's likely the theory holds some water, so to speak.

@realstyli Sample size of two, it was both me and my friend, we both unequipped only the curse, and we got it after that.

before that, my friend has gotten the achievement but not the extras and mark for current 35th event. I was missing both. It registered for us BOTH after removing the Ashen Curse, after five failed attempts that given how the successful one registered, should have also.

Ashen curse counts as light source = lantern = voids your ability to get the commendation, possibly. That was the only change we made, and it worked for both of us in our sloop.

Also note: hatches we forgot about, stayed open, had nothing to do with it.

Also, maybe, possibly, generally anything light emissive on your clothes or vanity.
Pets do not cause problems, we both had a cat and birb boi out.

The hatches don't affect it, this was already debunked by a lot of players.

I doubt it's the Ashen Curse causing it, but it's worth a shot. I don't have any glowing items equipped but it could be that some of them count as a light source - though others have said they've gotten it with the Ori ship set equipped, so it's not all of them.

If it works without the Ashen Curse (or any emissive items) equipped, then it could be that but further testing would need to be conducted to confirm it.

@realstyli Yeah I done that pattern and way more voodoo on top of it and then some more several times.

Currently we are just unequipping our gear trying to see if ashen curse counts as a lantern (?????????) and so much more - we have no idea what we should be doing and not. Rare is not being exactly helpful either.

all I know it is not fun after the 11th time and it was bordering on zone of absolute void of fun for the first already.

Well technically, this is also 11th attempt AFTER 35th anniversary event. I had several, with Ashen winds and haunted shores as well, two to four but at then I was just going through "easy achievements that should be simple to do"

Out of which throwing puke on a player not in your crew was easier done than getting this thing to just register. It is not even doing it right just doing it in sexually pleasing manner to Rare.

It sounds like it is bugged for you, if you're not getting it. Honestly, just file a bug report at this stage and let support sort it out.

The specifics of how I got it first try for this event:

• I was on a sloop, fresh spawn at Ancient Spire, no cosmetics equipped
• Turned off all lanterns on the boat, did not change my handheld lantern
• Sailed towards the storm (just North of Crow's Nest), sun was setting. I was on the edge of it as the sun set and sailed towards the middle.
• The gold and doubloons popped up after about 10 seconds
• I do not recall if I was holding the wheel at the time or not

Dumb question, but can't you just be in the storm prior to the proper timeframe? Essentially be early, and just repair the ship til the proper time arrives? The start to sail out of it at that time?

I got it unlocked as soon as the bell started to ring...so I definitly wasn't in the center...

11th attempt, through the center and follwing the looming darkest cloud of the storm, from 11pm to 5am.

Nothing. Ship broke three times, could not have done it alone, still not registering.

This achievement really has mind of it's own and I am starting to hate cats and cat lovers now.

You wanna know how fun it is to wait 15 minutes for each attempt, because you are hard timed to need to wait 15 minutes if it fails, you have extensively, especially currently when nothing seems to be a right answer in any capacity, and night's shortness not giving much leeway, one attempt, that takes 3-6 minutes, and then wait 15.

Just for the game to tell me repeatedly to pull a big one out of my orifice and slam my face into it.

Well it's behaviour, in general, is that which resembles a bugged behaviour badly.
I know it is not bugged because I sailed with people who have the thing already.

One of most problematic aspects is saying a simple phrase yet the actual requirements are some of the fuzziest logic. Many say it is actually exiting the storm, and before night has ended. Many say it is being inside the storm.

I can say, 10th attempt and I have still not found any clarity what it is, and my very thing understanding of humor for this bad joke is starting to taste increasingly like moldy grog each attempt I am giving it.

By the way rare would not even answer my inquiry about how the awarding for emissary ranking works, so I am not super enthusiastic making bug reports that also fall to deaf ears.

My advice is to put in a bug report. If you followed the steps and it's not unlocking, it's bugged, but Rare won't know unless you tell them. Maybe they can look at your activity and award it to you, I don't know but worth a shot.

Venting on the forums is not going to achieve anything.

@realstyli That is the problem. It pops, when it feels like it. Text rare says lies text community says lies nothing about this achievement is sure yet it is a REQUIREMENT command mission for this event.

10 attempts, now with friend. Being inside storm for a full minute from midnight, nothing.

Going into the storm and out of the storm, all withing the night time and no dusk of dawn (before 3am ingame)

Still not registering.

I am even resorting to asking my friend turn his actual on person lantern off too doing the same, and still not popping.

People get it by accident, because whatever logic rare tells (go into storm) lies, whatever community tells (go into the storm, and out) lies, whatever system that tracks you getting this achievement is way beyond broken and needs to be removed until fixed.

I am transparent here for now: I am just venting the frustration of wasted 5 hours, and now, 2 more, on this one achievement because rare said I have to get it for the special thing that I would like to have and through would not be a big deal to do.

Now I am still deciphering what englishmen mean when they say "Go into the storm, with a bunch of flowers in your hand" because they clearly did not actually mean going into the storm with flowers in your hand, because they cannot award the players with anything when you do exactly what they ask. Community tried to make more sense out of it but even they do not entirely know.

You do not put the most SoT achievement, in the worst sense, as time limited "do this before X or be locked out forever" when after TEN ON COMMAND ON TIME attempts that were perfect and worked for others - still fail to trigger the damn achievement and I would be far less frustrated if it was not part of the whole rare anniversary. It is really bad joke too. "lol, being in dark, is perfect dark" at least blackwyche and battletoads have art and unique flavor text unlike this pile of cancerous game design.
