I you prefer ranged, try not to get close to people with cutlasses or blundies. Stick to what you good at, like if your good with cutlass (also, remember to block even though it barely works because of hitreg) get close to people with ranged weapons and utilize your loadout. Never get too close to a blunder user, they will one tap you. It’s all about adapting to the situation. Also, jump around like an ape completely wildly. For some reason that actually works sometimes(on a serious note you’ll get better at movement overtime) Those are just a few, but next time don’t ask in feedback. It’s not the right category g.

Depends on the situation, but the best rule of thumb whenever you're fighting in a ship vs ship battle, never let the enemy team board your ship. If they board your ship they can easily anchor you, kill you, and blast your ship to pieces with their cannonballs. They can take down your masts so you can't escape, and constantly knock you off the anchor. Always make sure you have SOMEONE with a blunderbuss ready to 1 shot a boarder.@l-g-b-2-7 said in Any tips for defending yourself:

Ships- Always watch the horizons
- Never assume everyone is friendly
- Watch for boarders
- Hit other players ships below the water line to sink them faster
- Keep the ship well stocked
Combat
- Use the loadout that you are comfortable with.
- Carry good fruit with you
- Check your ammo count every time you see an ammo chest
- Never assume that the other player is going to lose, and vice versa
- Use strategies that suit and benefit you the most.
