Problems with communications with other players

I think forums are dead and all, but I mean why not ask here.
So i can't ever hear other players game chat or text chat. Other crew mates with me can hear other players and their text chat, but I never can. They aren't muted, and I've checked like every setting in the game and in xbox console companion. I've also made sure that my input and output device are correct. And for some weird reason, I can see their pirate chat and that only. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still nothing works.
