lol please disregard i realised that be signed in to either the windows or steam version at any one time and not both, the lavenderbeard error typically means the servers are down but non the less i fixed the issue.

@brotherga lavenderbeard is usually a version mismatch. do you need to update?

Signing out of my Xbox Live account and then signing back in worked for me.
