Crossplatform Players

  • @troubled-cells Im aware that the PC players arent at fault here lol

  • @trippayy Then dont get upset when one dumpsters your crew because they can run the game properly then, and half your crew cant.

    Simple.

  • @dlchief58 No its on a xbox one S, and i can still guarantee your external hard drive is slower than a PC thats not complete garbage.

  • @trippayy said in Crossplatform Players:

@supersnipper60 Id love to see you kill me once, because you wont, your 30 FPS wont be able to do jack.

Oh my, how did we ever get headshots in the past when we couldn't even reach those FPS on old games? More FPS will not automatically make you a better player. Stop drinking the Kool-Aid!

  • @troubled-cells Okay so your thoughts are, the xbox sucks, so you have nothing to blame but trying to play the game on the platform where its not optimized. Very insightgful and also agreeing with my point that the xbox version is garbage and at a disadvantage, thank you!

  • @troubled-cells said in Crossplatform Players:

@trippayy the solution is to buy better more capable hardware.

You would've realised I mentioned series x in my post as well if you had bothered to read it properly.

    Want it sooner?

Go tell and screech and phil.

Even on the preference, SOT runs awfull on current gen xbox.

Like I said your issue is with rare.

They are the ones that optimise the game for said platform, or in this case not optimise.

    Not PC players 🤣🤣

There has currently been zero information about how sea of thieves will run on the series X, if there will be any differences at all.
It is all down to individual developers to improve their games.
And we have had zero information that will happen..

Don't naturally assume all games will run 60fps+ because even the new Assassin's creed Valhalla is set to only run at 30fps on the series X native 4k.

  • @dlchief58 You have no clue what FPS is or what it means to playing a game. You need to stop bringing it up because you [mod edit] by saying 30 FPS vs 150 FPS is the same.

  • @trippayy said in Crossplatform Players:

You'd be wrong then....AGAIN. I've tested all my load times on both my external hard drive and my SSD. Guess what, my load and ferry times are right in line with PC players using the same storage...even on my OG Day One Xbox One console.

  • @trippayy I said it wasnt optimised properly.

    Big difference buddy.

I would say I'm surprised, but im not.🤣

Not as much as you thinking it does make any sort of significant difference. It makes the game look smoother, does not automatically make one a better player or move faster as you seem to think it does. The ONLY ones that benefit are those that have extreme skills to begin with to take advantage of it (and even then it is pretty minimal), which obviously isn't going to be you based on your stance.

  • What can we come up with to call Xbox players? Why is PC discrimination still a thing. Why do we have to be sweats but you're just xbox players.

I now dub Xbox players "xbox poops". Learn it, use it, love it. I will now be referring to them as xbox poops whenever I have to mention them. Mods have let it go on for far too long and now it's time for the other foot to wear the shoe.

Why did xbox poops get away with all the discrimination, bringing us to the point we are at here?

  • @dlchief58 you seriously have never played an FPS in your life. If FPS doesnt matter why do people want to buy expensive PCs when they could just buy cheap ones and run the game at 30 FPS????

  • @gutterangel I play on PC and i wouldve changed it to PC mains if i could but i cant at this point. My point is the PC players who main the game

  • @trippayy I understand you. You're not at fault for what all came before you, but I did use this as a spot to say what I needed to say.

You do realise this thread is made by a PC player?

  • @needsmokes where did I assume that as a certainty?

I said it was looking more likely at best, due to recent news.

    Get it right brother.

    Not carved In stone.

Although It would bother me personally if I dropped that much on a new console and one their most popular first party games didnt receive this treatment.

    What a wasted opportunity.

It's like some people want to suffer with a poorly optimised game or something.

    🤣

  • @needsmokes Thanks for pointing out the obvious. Should that change anything I said? I think not.

  • @troubled-cells

Almost on a weekly basis, you bring up the Xbox series X and how it will end all disparity..
But we don't yet have any information suggesting that Rare will upgrade the game to run on the series X.

Edit: To run at higher specs on the series x

  • @trippayy but @dlCHIEF58 is right...high fps doesn't make you a good player, it runs smoother, but when he sucks at aiming it's not the fault of low fps

Also a good player can handle close quarter combat even with low fps against someone with high fps

  • @needsmokes no, I suggest how it has the tool set to end the disparity.

    Like I said

    Get it right brother.

    Dont like it?

    Tough.

  • @schwammlgott Youre right, having high FPS doesnt mean youll be a great player, but having low FPS puts you at a much lower floor and lower ceiling, it is much harder to be effective running a game on bad FPS compared to it running smooth on higher FPS.

  • @trippayy I've always maintained rare should adjust the graphics settings for xbox for a performance gain to 60fps.

The current fidelity is near PC's highest, but it just cant handle it.

  • @troubled-cells

This game will be last gen when the console drops. And if you look at the Xbox charts, this game has been dropping month by month, it's no longer one of the most popular games. Hence why its off to Steam to farm some gold before Rare are required to start work on new IPs.

Do you really see Rare's A team of developers still wanting to work on an old game when they are expected to release a game every 3 years using the latest generation technology?

  • @trippayy I would suggest you to take your xbox crew and raise the reaper emissary flag...not for looting, for practicing PvP with the main goal to keep the fights on ship battles, you will learn to stop boarders and will get better with the cannons and sailing while in a fight...so you can make others' advantage worth nothing...at least it does more to help you, than to argue in the forums about it

And also...it won't work always, because there can always someone better come around and destroy you, but live with it and go on

DUHR, to look better and run smoother as well as to brag (you've obviously heard the PCMR crowd bragging about such, thus you believe that FPS are the end all when that is simply not the case). And for the truly competitive people at the top of the game it can make a difference - the average player not so much.

    @trippayy said in Crossplatform Players:

@schwammlgott Youre right, having high FPS doesnt mean youll be a great player, but having low FPS puts you at a much lower floor and lower ceiling, it is much harder to be effective running a game on bad FPS compared to it running smooth on higher FPS.

Hogwash! Plus 30 FPS is not "bad" by any means, we got by for decades running that or less. Sure 60 is better but for the average player it will not give them any significant advantage (if any to be quite honest) over someone running at 30FPS with equal skill levels of average skill level players.

Now if you have 2 professionals playing with that disparity, the higher FPS will be more beneficial as they have the skills and reflexes to take advantage of that. The vast majority of players will not, no matter what you think. And if you ran across one of these players online, the FPS won't make a difference as they would wreck you anyway even if they played at 30FPS because of their SKILL and not the hardware. It is pretty much like golf equipment - you can buy what the pros use but unless you have the skill to properly use it you won't improve your game with the equipment as you don't have the proper skill level in order to take advantage of it.

  • @dlchief58 Yes you guys got by for decades running on 30 FPS with games like Sea of Thieves right? No, and once again you keep bringing up 30 FPS like its good when its terrible!!! I cannot believe what I am reading, no one defends Xbox 30 FPS but here you are fighting with your life for it. And again, yes you wont be a better player automatically, but it gives you much more room to improve and get better rather than change your whole playstyle to deal with the low FPS.

  • @needsmokes ah so your saying the game is dying then?

    That old chestnut 🤣

Personally I still think the game has a few years left at least.

If anything xbox one is the hardware that is potentially holding back innovative content to move the game forward.

Remember how GTA online updates were dropped for the 360 because it couldn't handle them ?

Had that game been culled because of red dead 2?

    Nope.

  • Not saying the game is dying, but gamepass is massively improving and rapidly releasing very enjoyable games, giving subscribers a much greater choice in what to play..
For the first few years of gamepass, there weren't many good titles on the list at any given time, now however, we get weekly uploads and all quality games.. Which in turn means fewer people on Xbox are playing sea of thieves. The numbers are there for all to see.

  • @troubled-cells

Also, Sea of Thieves is not a GTA or Red dead.. Its almost an unknown Xbox ID title in comparison. Those games are huge.. This isn't.

That is false, the average player count has held pretty much steady for over a year now. There are not fewer people playing, if anything it is still growing as it ran all the way up to #14 in most played games on Xbox for 4 straight weeks over 2 weeks ago before dropping to #16 then #17. It will likely jump up again slightly next week or at least hold its position. And judging by the company it is holding on that chart it is anything but "dying" much less shedding players at a significant amount.

The numbers are there to see as you say, just not what you are saying they are. There are not fewer people playing this game on Xbox.

  • @needsmokes I'm curious does your numbers include PC players?

Or just a section of players that meet a certain criteria?

Regardless, sounds like you have very little faith in this game moving forward.

I can't wait for the steam release next week it's well overdue, and it's great that this initiative to bring first party to more platforms is happening.

It's like you want the game on xbox to have poor performance optimistation and player numbers or something?

  • @dlchief58 cheers thanks for clarification.

I knew something was amiss 😉

Looks like its performing fine to me.

  • @troubled-cells

I am just seeing it realistically.

Rare are owned by Microsoft studio's. They need to create new games for the next gen.
I just don't see them wasting the effort in an old title that you hope they would.
We have already had the announcement that if this game no longer remains self substantial, it's over. No more content.
That's when the emporium dropped.. Do we need to spend money on cosmetics that serve no purpose?? How long will that last?

That's why it's good it's off to Steam, they might make a few quid and carry on with it a while longer..

But the future is next gen, and it's coming soon. Rare are contracted to create new titles.. And maybe keep a skeleton crew on old games whilst they still make a bit of money.

Either way, it's best days are behind it now.
