Black Friday Sails

Giving this some more thought, this is even more absurd than I realized. To celebrate a day all about discount deals, they released an overpriced single sail item instead of giving us discounts in the shops all around the seas. Come on Rare... you're not bad developers. You listen to your community and you usually know right from wrong. How could you have let this slide?

who cares? they are only cosmetic and aren't even tattered.

Don’t support them then. If the price is this high then they obviously are trying to get you to buy them with FoMo. It’s a real thing and they know it. I won’t spend a penny past what I paid for the game on release day. Game was in beta at release. It’s still in beta now if you ask me.

I find a new shirt with some brand on it for 300 over priced aswell. But they are allowed to and some people will buy it because of that. Same here its commerce.

You need to learn how to spell and forms proper sentences before you can properly SHILL for rare.

@dovahkiin-1211 they are more expensive then the normal sails that they sell for real money wich is weird since it is supposed to be a black friday deal. lol i thought black friday was about discounts and cheap stuff.

It upsets me we've made it into December and still no apologies or even acknowledgement from Rare on this matter. Rare is normally a good team who listens to their community. They should see that a large majority hated this. I guess corporate greed got ahold of them.

Over the past 2 days, I've seen a lot of people say "it's just cosmetic, it doesn't matter because you don't need it," so let me acknowledge this really weak argument. SoT is literally a game about cosmetics. That's its only progression. You can go the entire game without buying anything save the forceful tutorial cosmetic and have the same advantage as anyone else. That still doesn't make it ok to release cosmetics that are this expensive for so little irl. There's almost no point to gold because they keep releasing these and doubloon sets that look 20 times better than the gold sets. The only time you ever need a large amount of gold is when they add anything in the legends hideout. They've created a game where the only reward for anything you do is a cool jingle and currency that only unlocks cosmetics, so adding a way to pay to be cooler than anyone else is not ok in this case, especially when you can't get any of this stuff by normal in-game means. Even Destiny 2 allowed you to get microtransaction items without paying for them, albeit via lootboxes.

Let's go with your analogy; you've saved up 300 bucks because that was the deal, the Brand told you that. Now you're trying to buy that shirt and they tell you that your 300 bucks can't be spent on this shirt, you gotta buy with euros. How do you feel now?

I feel like they advertised wrong in this example.
No one said it be bought with aciant coins tho. They said in the MS store which is payed with money.

I've bought all of the emotes, I've bought one overpriced flag, but this was just too much. I don't mind spending money on a sail or spending ¤/$ 8 on things in a game. But not this.

They might have more than doubled their sales with this at half price, we never know. I guess the expensive ship sets are doing well for them to set this price.

I love how you’re suggesting for them to give the sails for free🤣 😭 hilarious.

I would very much love to see a demographic breakdown of those who have issues paying for these sails and those who do not, in correlation with age and employment.
