Ignores responses that explained the whole thing, including Microsoft's own statements... claims no answers are given.

@BloodyBil he isn't willing to read or understand what Microsofts position is and how their brand is developing. He isn't even willing to accept official statements from Microsoft and believes that his vision is their standpoint while in the last 3 or 4 years have been moving to try and conquer the PC market to some degree and for that they are using the fact that they have a gaming community and platform to build on. The PC world is highly spread, so having a huge community to invite them into to try and convince us to move from Steam to their Xbox live environment, is not something he is willing to accept.

Xbox players have to understand that Rare and Microsoft have used the xbox live community, as a key selling point to us that use windows 10 PCs as our main platform.

PC players do not need XBL Gold to play Online in XBL PC games like, crackdown and sea of thieves

i have given the actual answer to you before but will do it again:

That privacy setting is to prevent you from getting linked up with PS4 and Steam players in games like Rocket league.

PC players for Actual microsoft games can use ALL online and multiplayer functionality for Free, that is not Rare's stance on things it is Microsofts.

Pc players in those games use the actual same services and servers that Xbox players use so the privacy setting does not affect it at all, because as you said the setting is:

"multiplayer options and then choose to block playing with anyone outside of Xbox live"

but the crux is the players are playing via Xbox Live, and thus they aren't being blocked

This is to do with a paying subscription that I am required to purchase in order to play this game on Xbox live servers on my console.
And why a non Xbox community does not require the same subscription and can play on those same servers.
It is a genuine question. And a fair one to ask. Many people have to pay and many don't.
As a paying subscriber, I would expect a fairer service than what is currently happening.
Disadvantaged and paying for that pleasure.

Xbox Live applies to both PC and Xbox games if they are playing on that infrastructure (as this game and most Microsoft games are). Live Gold is another thing altogether, that is the paid subscription for Xbox players to play games online and would never fly on PC (hence the failure of the previous attempt to rope them in on that with Live for Windows). So there is no way for you to block them (aka use that as a way to force a block into crossplay, nice try though as we all know that was what you were trying to do) as they are playing on Live servers and there is no way to limit your settings to just Live Gold users. The servers do not differentiate between paid/Gold and unpaid/Silver Xbox Live memberships (as an Xbox Live account is required to play the game, just not a paid/Gold one on PC)

That preference would only block cross-platform players (PC, Switch, PS4, etc) in third party games like Fortnite, Rocket League and the like that host their own servers and not Live ones. The game is not ignoring privacy settings, you simply do not understand the infrastructure and terminology when trying to find an alternative way to get around cross-play with PC, thinking you'd pulled a fast one there.

I have been using the Xbox companion app for well over 6+ years. That is for Xbox console users.. It also states as such as its headline. Without a subscription to live, I am unable to use this as a console player.

Yes, it is an application that was just for xbox when it initially launched, but Microsoft has expanded the application and their services to include the mobile and PC markets. These are somewhat limited, such as it requires windows 10 for the majority of the functionality and features. If you own Windows 10, the application also functions as a game start up platform, provides you access to xbox live features, clubs, friends, coms, etc. and all that accessibility and yes it is still called the Xbox Companion application.

In the words of Microsoft:
"The Xbox Console Companion App brings together your friends, games, and accomplishments across Xbox One and Windows 10 devices."

Seriously don't you understand that Microsoft expanded their service, they have now allowed Windows 10 and in some cases even mobile phones to now also access and join the community. Things change in 6 years... if you don't like how Microsoft is adapting and doing things, maybe it is time to make a switch, I for one am happy with the current roadmap and is why I bought Windows 10 over 7.

Simply put its included in the £120 cost just for the OS (Window 10 Home)

Console users pay less for the device, but nothing for the OS therefore Microsoft recoups that through the Xbox Live subscription.

This.

And also, because they can.

The Xbox console is a completely locked down system which gives Microsoft a complete stranglehold over the multiplayer service for any and all games on the platform.
On Windows however that isn't possible since its an open platform, and if they tried to enforce an Xbox live subscription people would just say "screw that" and instead play any of the countless thousands of other games that do not rely on Microsoft services, thus resulting in a massive loss of sales.

Windows store games still count as Xbox live even if they dont have to pay for Xbox live. We console players kinda get scammed like that.

Frankly, I don't get why you guys don't riot with being double dipped like that. I pay internet, why should I pay more to access multiplayer? This is a pretty foreign concept to the Pc community, excluding games like WoW. If we can do it, why can't Xbox?

I agree but we are stuck with their terms and conditions of owning their system. Without Xbox live subscription we cannot play games online or do anything else. It becomes a paperweight. They got us and we know it, we just do what they say and pay or not play.

The page you are referring to is the Xbox console companion app, where you can stream your games to your PC from your Xbox etc.
It is an app for people who already have an Xbox and live subscriptions.

This application is not limited for those with an xbox or have a subscription. As I am trying to explain to you: Microsoft has expanded their live environment to include their other operating systems to have one environment for their gaming community. If you haven't noticed Microsoft is adapting to make their service a platform independent tool and environment to ensure their place in the market and getting a larger slice of the pie. Whether you play on a console, PC or mobile phone one will be able to play their games and play with other like minded players regardless of what they use. They are embracing the future and using their position as the market leader on computer systems to develop their brand: Microsoft, as a whole.

To be clear, as a PC player you MUST use the companion application to connect to the xbox live environment in order to play Microsoft's games, which includes Sea of Thieves. Even if we just boot up the game, the application will be running and will sign you in before we can set sail, as it is a multiplayer. We have a xbox live account in accordance with the preference that you have selected and is why this prefence does nothing within Sea of Thieves, we are all Microsoft exclusive members and this is a Microsoft exclusive game.

Your club became more inclusive, Windows 10 users can now also join the Xbox Live community. Microsoft is pretty vocal about their goals, Xbox Play Anywhere, etc. and how it is adapting their service. You might want to keep track of game industry news if you care about these type of things.

The answer is simple: Why aren't I as a PC player being excluded from your club, as you selected in your options? Because I am a member, Microsoft invited me. It isn't hard to comprehend. I bought this game and upgraded to windows 10, because of the direction that they are going and the promises that they made.

No, it was also for creating XBox Live parties/groups and joining your friends games.

It's getting replaced with the GameBar and the XBox (beta) app eventually, but it is primarily used for gaming functionality on Windows.
