Location?
Inside the inner ring of the islands crescent cliff side is a central cave. Deep inside the cave along the back wall is a skeleton protecting the in-game replica of the custom made book.

So I have been created guides for Sea of thieves almost for one year now, the most and foremost thing I always here "In-game Tutorial is very Basic" and other players "I quit the game after a few days of playing, then came back months later, if it wans't for this video I won't know how to play" This goes for me and other creators. Without these, new players give up the game specially if they got it on gamepass since no one wants to waste their time feeling dumb.

I have seen Several Games where they have an in-game link with "Video Tutorials" where it links to top community channels and guides. People like me, Captain Falcore and several others spend hours grinding the game on a daily basis to help the community and specially new players.

The Bottom right Panel when you first launch the game should have a window for video tutorials, where it links to a page on this Sea of Thieves website showing each of our channels, or links to guides playlists. This way Rare helps the likes of me with further exposure, and helps new players be able to actually play the game and commit to it after watching a 3 minute video for basics. On the other hand, Rare Devs won't need to create an in-game tutorial because with all honesty, the game has lots of features, it's hard to create an in-game tutorial for a game of this type.

Just my two doubloons, some other games do that, why not Sea of Thieves? :)

Soooo.... I've been scouring the interwebs trying to find a certain mention of a feature I really want to see, and in this, it got me thinking about all the features that have come up over the past nearly 3 years of discussing this beaut of a game that have never come to light. So I picked the only two I had time to find at work my favourite two 'pre-features'!

Rats

So way back when the game was a concept in our minds, shortly before the release of the Technical Alpha, the crew of Rare had discussed a feature of Rats a few times, that would snuggle up in your lower decks, and when you spring a leak, would squeal and run up to the top deck to escape the water.

This idea was a great immersive idea in my mind, it gives that audio and visual sign that there is trouble and could also be utilised in many other ways. This feature is probably one of my top favourite 'pre-features'.

Hiding in Barrels

Now this one was a little harder to find. I remember it being mentioned in passing in one of the videos Rare delivered to us during the early TA days. But I managed to find a source where the feature was also mentioned.

In this Metro Interview with Joe Neate and Mike Chapman from late June 2017, where Mr Neate said, "We’ll add more richness and variety until… just now they’ve been putting hiding in barrels in as a new emergent feature. So you can hide on someone’s ship and look through the little hole."

This feature has been brought up and leaked a few times over the years. I personally think this creates a load of potential and opportunity, although, I'd have to say that there would have to be a good way to ascertain which barrels have someone in as having somebody camp out in you barrels would be a nightmare.

It would be good to see these brought into game. There are obviously other features that have been mentioned/leaked/shown off from unity builds. A couple of honourable mentions from memory are checking the wind speed in the crows nest, lock-picking chests, and I believe at some point it was mentioned that mast damage was tested in the unity build.

What pre-feature... or 'Preature' do you remember and want to see in game?

Neate aslo said the update is a collection of community requested features and that there's a bunch of other stuff coming with this update that he's leaving for the content update video to reveal.

Now that's all well and good.
But what else can we expect?
That's where my speculation comes in!
Let's get started eh?

• Alright so first off I think the Time limited campaign will feature DeMarco Singh as the Merrick/Wanda/Morrow style character.
  

Why do I think this?
Well, because in the picture above you can see that they have his 3D model completely designed and ready for implementation into the world.

I don't know what he'll be doing in the time limited campaign, but I'm pretty sure he'll be in it and apparently he's very competitive according to Neate's tease about DeMarco at the SoT New York Comic con Panel.

• So next I think we'll be getting Pirate Legend Weapon skins.
  

My reasoning for assuming that is because this update seems to be focusing on PLs, so it'd make sense that the Pirate Legend Weapon skins would be added.

• Emergent Skeleton Ships Encounters may be added as well.
  One of the reasons I think this, is because of this promotional Cursed Sails picture:
  

As you can see, the picture features a Skeleton Ship coming out of Mist.
If the mist in the picture is not just an artist's embellishment on the screenshot; then Skeletons Ships may linger in the Mist with the upcoming feature.

Another reason why I think Emergent Skeleton Ship Encounters will be added is because the devs have teased this feature alot on the Unofficial SoT Sub-reddit, so it's probably very close to being added... so why not add em in Shrouded Spoils?

• The remaining Forts may be activated as well, but I don't have much evidence for this getting added.
  Though it is a much requested feature, and Shrouded Spoils is a community feedback based Content update.

• As for the Time limited campaign cosmetics, we can probably expect all original customisation sets or the Whaling Barnacle Ship and Equipment sets, along with New Scares, Tattoos and Facepaints.
