I'm watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and it just occurred to me that just like Harry used Gillyweed during the tournament, maybe something similar could be added to Sea of Thieves — like seaweed that you can harvest in certain parts of the map. After cooking it, it could give you effects like holding your breath longer or swimming faster for a limited time. It could make things like looting shipwrecks easier, and I'm sure there would be other situational uses too. :)
A new kind of food with an extra benefit :)
@trzeci-sutek I always thought merfruit should have given you a tail and allow u to swim faster and hold your breath longer but not be able to come on land or board ladders for 2 mins or something, so i like this idea a lot
I like it but make them be added to existing food like spices. Either found in game world or dropped as loot. Not found in barrels, my storage crate fills up too fast as it is! The over heal you normally get would be replaced by some other effect depending on the spice type. How much of the new effect is the same as the meat type. It only eats into this "overheal" if the effect is vaild. Only one overheal effect at a time, eating a standard cooked meat or other meat type over writes the effect.
Water weed: Once your normal breath runs out it this starts to eat through the over heal. Coming to the surface resets clock.
Fire plant: fire resistance, fire damage eats through the over heal at half the normal fire damage rate before you start taking damage. Great if you are on ship on fire. Kegs still do full damage.
Shark skin: Water NPCs will not attack you while swimming. Overheal eats through as long as you are in the water. NPCs may still follow you.
Merfruit is the only enchanted food rn right? I think this would actually be an awesome thing to add. It needs to be smaller, balanced things, nothing that can really hard affect PVP, but is useful for tacticians, like enchanted merfruit. Waterbreathing fruit would be a good one. I don't think swim speed increase is good though, since that could lead to disadvantageous positions more easily.
@trzeci-sutek Or hear me our if you drink a bottle of breath of the sea it gives you that ability lol
@desi-da-wulf They've given the reapers chest a new canon ability, so why not? I think it's totally valid to have breathe of the seas be drinkable and give water breathing
This is the perfect type of buff to have been added as a reward for catching different types of fish or completing certain PvE events.
