Flameheart's Wrath

  • The following is my idea for a new world event.

So I've been playing SoT since it's alpha stage and I among my peers can mostly find the common ground that the game has significantly improved since release. That being said I shall not bore you fine folks that click on this post with bug fixes and the like. If you wish to discuss that please head on over to the dozens of other posts regarding bugs.

    World Event:
    Flameheart's Wrath
Icon: A large dark black cloud with a blue lightning bolt symbol in the center through Flameheart's skull
Description: With the resurrection of Flameheart, he and his Ashen Lords were able to find a long forgotten undersea cavern that held relics that could take control of the weather. They foolishly attempted to sink the Sea Dog tavern where the bravest of pirates hold their battle arena matches. But instead all that occurred was a type of Super Storm that resurfaces rotten shipwrecks from the seafloor and you are able to take their treasures. Those that make it to the eye of the storm will get the best rewards (similar to half of FOTD loot)
Threats: The "mass" of the storm as in the rough seas area would be where hazard shipwrecks spawn. They don't have any loot but if you hit the parts that are sticking up out of the water, or run against the ship underwater (if it's completely submerged) will cause you to take holes in your ship these will all be lower deck hits though. The lightning would cause upper deck hits. The storm would be much more aggressive to the point that if you drop your anchor that the ship would creak and groan while it's being Dragged Underwater. Moreover lightning would strike extremely often but only hit top deck. Each lighting strike would be in the tier of a "mini keg" that puts two tier two holes in the ship's upper deck and can break masts, the wheel pegs or the capstan pegs.
New Loot Drops that spawn in the Eye of the storm shipwrecks:
I'm thinking that the eye of the storm has the loot shipwrecks.
Shipwrecked Chest of Legends: Not all of the Pirate Lord's Guardians sold their chests. Some were sunk in the open sea this long lost chest has resurfaced to finally be taken home. (Cash in for 3/4 value of an original Athena Chest) ((1 Spawn))
Flameheart's Fortune: New Bounty Style chest for Reaper bones pays out a set figure of 15k to be increased by emissary value. (1 spawn)
Shipwrecked Chest of Forgotten Voyages: Merchant Exclusive Cash in to be sold for the roughly same as a Precious Gemstone Crate (4 spawns)
Shipwrecked Chest of Forgotten Riches: Gold Hoarder Exclusive cash in to be sold for about 1.5 the value as Skeleton Captain Chests (2 spawns)
Shipwrecked Skull of the Ashen Lord: Not all of the Ashen Lords are as infamous as Warden Chi, Old Horatio, Red Ruth or Captain Grim this Ashen Lord was shipwrecked by Skeleton Fleets of the past and he went down with the ship. This counts as an Ashen Wind skull cash in and only spawns one time on the shipwrecked flagship at half the value of current Ashen Winds Skulls.
What Causes Event To End: When the Shipwrecked Chest of Legends is grabbed a ambient npc enemy spawns in the form of the sirens. These sirens were trapped in the shipwrecks by Flameheart and are so destroyed and broken by endless suffering that they attempt to sink your ship. If you fight them off long enough they'll realize that you aren't Flameheart. Thank you and return to the sunken kingdom
New Cosmetics: The Rotten Barnacle Ship set.
From the depths of the sea a ship has resurfaced from the fathoms below. This set would be a light blue similar to the Wailing Barnacle on the outside but a deep seaweed green on the interior and would have many more cosmetic differences. Barnacles as part of the entire ship skin both on the interior and exterior of the ship the sails would be frayed and ripped, the decal on the sails would be worn away a bit but not to the point that it looks pixelated. The cannons would be completely encrusted with barnacles to the point that the front of the cannon has sights made out of them (like Reaper Bones cannons). The figurehead would be a drowning sailor with a hand outstretched to the bowsprit as if it was the surface.
The Rotten Barnacle Weapon set, clothing and equipment sets.
All of which could have nods to the original wailing barnacle set but be unique in their own style.
All of these cosmetics would be locked behind commendations for a new Season's Event called "Flameheart's Tidal Wrath" if anybody has further ideas/edits please I'd love to hear them in the comments.

  • Could have skeletons that were trapped in the shipwrecks now climb on your boat like the ocean crawlers in the 5th pirate's life tall

  • I'll keep it short : Sea of Thieves needs something else other than new events.

  • Bro that’s a sick idea!

  • @voidshipwrecks I'm in, when do we sail!

PS You may not want to bump threads, I believe Mods discourage it.

  • @hijack-hayes gotcha

Conceptually neat...although it seems like an event that would be nearly impossible as a solo player...the storm is bad enough solo...I can't imagine trying to hang around in some super storm with obstacles. Additionally, I think there are more solo sloopers now than ever before, so creating another event that is laughable to try and complete solo is no good IMO. That's part of the reason you see almost nobody doing FoF's anymore.

That said, I agree with @FlameNoir4280 ... We need more people actually doing world events...Until there's a consistent reason for players to participate in - and compete over - world events, there's no point in creating another thing that'll sit idle until it despawns. I do have some ideas on how they could encourage more people to take part in world events, though. One of these days I'll collect my thoughts and make a thread on that.

That's not what I meant, I mean purely in a raw way that we're done with events. People do actually do events, some crews are even dedicated to this. But I mean events end up pretty much being the same so something else flameheart related? it's just recycled content over and over again.

  • @flamenoir4280

Oh. My apologies. I think the FoF is the only current event that is pretty "lazy" in design. The other world events are all pretty unique.

However, I feel like we need more people competing over world events. Once we grind the Emissary Ledgers for the first month that new ones are available, we typically will do world events...getting contested feels super rare, though...and contesting one that's already in progress feels equally rare.

For that I can only agree, but it's not by adding more to a system that you make it more perfect, you simply make it more complex.
Perhaps you could add a feature that would push players to interact more during events instead of an adding a new event itselft and leaving the previous ones aside.
