Release Notes Discussion

  • Patch Notes - 1.1.7

    Ahoy pirates!

We're in the final week of the latest Bilge Rat Adventure – The Sunken Curse! It's your last chance to get all the Doubloons available if you want to ensure you have all the time-limited cosmetics in your inventory before they disappear from the shops. The Commendations and Titles will still be available after the event ends, but the time-limited cosmetics and Doubloons will no longer be up for grabs.

Patch 1.1.7 brings bug fixes and performance improvements, along with extended lore around the story of Merry Merrick. You may notice the Pennant flags no longer change when you raise a Ship flag... this may be a hint to an exciting change on the horizon.

Many long-time wanderers on the Sea of Thieves will remember Salty, one of the first entrepreneurs to set up shop at an Outpost. He informs the Pirate Times that after many months spent seeking a 'killer' item to sell, he's found something special that will surprise new and old customers alike. Salty even has a new business partner, but is keeping details quiet until it's time to make a splash.

Looking for new crewmates? We've got a bunch of places you can visit to seek out like-minded pirates, so sail on over to these official Sea of Thieves hangouts:

  • Patch Notes - 1.1.6

    Ahoy pirates!

This patch brings the Gunpowder Skeletons event to a close. These explosive skeletons will still remain in the world, but thanks to your hard work, their numbers have decreased!

Need a way to earn some more Bilge Rat Doubloons? Not to worry, the Bilge Rats have another adventure for you – The Sunken Curse! Along with a new reason for you to explore the watery depths, Patch 1.1.6 brings with it key performance improvements, crash fixes and additional fixes for other known issues.

Bilge Rats Adventure - The Sunken Curse

Rumours of artefacts beneath the waves are being whispered across the Outposts, and as usual the Bilge Rats already know all about it! Underwater statues and dangerous curses are amongst their tavern tales, so take a deep breath before diving into this Bilge Rat Adventure!

    alt text

    • Sunken Curse Event - Cursed Mermaid Statues are the latest addition to Sea of Thieves. Hidden in the shallows around island shores, they radiate ancient magic. For this adventure, the Bilge Rats are challenging all brave pirates to seek out and destroy the statues. Not all statues are bound by the same curse but they all regenerate health over time, and while some will require more firepower than others to destroy, no more than four players will be required to destroy even the toughest statue.
    • Sunken Items - It's not all malevolent curses in the shallows! Eagle-eyed pirates can also find artefacts, skulls and treasure chests hidden on the seabed ready to be plundered.
    • The Wailing Barnacle Cosmetics - The Hat, Dress and Jacket of The Wailing Barnacle have been added to the Bilge Rat shop. These items are time-limited and only purchasable with Bilge Rat Doubloons, so get them before they sink back to the depths on July 25th.
    • Bilge Rat Titles - Earn three unique titles introduced with The Sunken Curse event and equip them straight from the Vanity Chest!
    • Bilge Rat Doubloons - There are 100 Bilge Rat Doubloons available for the standard Commendations, and an additional 50 Bilge Rat Doubloons available for completing the Legendary Commendation and becoming a Legendary Curse Breaker. Each of The Sunken Curse Commendations on the Bilge Rat progress screen details the number of Bilge Rat Doubloons it rewards. You have until July 25th to earn Bilge Rat Doubloons by completing these Commendations.

    alt text

    • Bilge Rat Flag - A new flag has been added to all pirates' flag inventories! This new flag can be used to show other pirates that they're on the hunt for Bilge Rat Doubloons.

    Updates

    • The Wailing Barnacle Tattoo Set - Now available in the clothing shop on all Outposts, this tattoo set is purchasable with gold and here to stay!
    • Legendary Skeleton Exploder Title - We heard feedback from our community that Legendary Commendations are deserving of a Legendary Title, so we have now introduced the 'Legendary Skeleton Exploder' Title. Existing players who have met the criteria can grab it in the Bilge Rat shop for free. If players unlock the Legendary Commendations required for Gunpowder Skeletons in the future, they will automatically be awarded this Title.
    • Loading Screens - These now give players information about the latest goings-on and what's new in Sea of Thieves.
    • Front End Animations - Pirate animations have been updated when entering the game through the front end.
    • UI Update - A small banner is shown on Commendations within the Bilge Rat progress screen when there are Bilge Rat Doubloons to be earned.

    Performance Improvements

    • Multiple server and client crash fixes.
Further improvements and optimisations for all platforms are ongoing.

    Fixed Issues

    • Athena's Fortune Bounty Quests are no longer incorrectly blank.
We have applied a hotfix for the issue effecting Athena Voyages. This issue should now be resolved.
    • Bilge Rat Doubloons which were earned but not rewarded correctly as part of the Skeleton Thrones Bilge Rats Adventure will be awarded.
We are rolling out a fix over the next few days for players to receive Bilge Rat Doubloons which were not awarded correctly for the Skeleton Thrones event.
    • Upon impact, cannonball knockback no longer causes unintended damage to fellow crew members.
    • Bear & Bird Figurehead Loading Screen is now localised in all available languages.
    • Mysterious Stranger conversation text is now correctly localised in German, French, Italian and Spanish.
    • Ghost Trousers no longer appear broken on certain body types.
    • Bilge Rat Trousers no longer appear inconsistent when equipped with a peg leg and mid-length boots.
    • The Bilge Rat progression UI now correctly counts Gunpowder Skeletons event Titles towards the overall Title count.
    • The option to enable and disable the Player Talking Indicator has been added back into Settings.
    • Players should now see all their items once they have joined a new server.
    • Loading Screen tips should no longer be clipping on 4:3 display screens.

    Known Issues

    • The 'Gunpowder Plot' Commendation and its Legendary Commendation counterpart may not unlock.
We are investigating a fix for this issue. The time-limited Gunpowder Skeletons event cosmetics will be available again in the future for any players wishing to complete the set.
    • The Hungering Deep rewards were not received by a number of players who earned them.
We are investigating a resolution for this and will share information when available.
    • Players may experience details of their pirate (such as hair colour / scars) looking different from their initial selection.
Players who have experienced a physical appearance change to their pirate unrelated to hair colour have been reverted to their original selection. Changes to pirates’ hair colour will be reverted during next week’s maintenance window. This issue occurred as part of the team’s ongoing work to give players greater control over their pirate’s hair colour. We’re continuing to work on bringing hair colour customisation options to the game and will let you know when they’re in place!
    • Some players travel in an unintended direction when fired from a cannon.
    • Some players may continue to hear muffled sound after being fired from a cannon.
We have reports that being fired out of a cannon again clears the muffled sound.
    • The UI and pirates in the 'Select Your Pirate' carousel may not be visible for some players.
We have reports that the UI and pirates become visible after a few minutes.

  • Patch Notes - 1.1.5

    Ahoy pirates!

We're in the final week of the latest Bilge Rat Adventure – Gunpowder Skeletons! It's your last chance to get all the Doubloons available if you want to ensure you have all the time-limited cosmetics in your inventory before they disappear from the shops. The Commendations and Titles will still be available after the event ends, but the time-limited cosmetics and Doubloons will no longer be up for grabs.

To mark 20 Years of Banjo-Kazooie, players will now be able to purchase a majestic Bear & Bird Figurehead for a very fitting price of 1998 gold! This figurehead is only available during the month of July, so make sure you join in the celebration and purchase it while you can!

This week we've banned a number of players who we've been able to confirm have been cheating. Those players have been contacted via email and we've removed their Sea of Thieves account privileges. We will continue enforcing a zero tolerance policy to this behaviour and taking regular action against any players who are found to be cheating.

Those time-limited cosmetic and Doubloon rewards are now at an end, but for anyone who earned Doubloons during the event, they will remain in your wallet. The Skeleton Thrones themselves will also remain part of the world, along with both the Commendations and Titles, so if you encounter a new pirate to the world of Sea of Thieves don’t forget to point at the Thrones and let them know how many attempts it took you to reach Marauder’s Arch!

  • Patch Notes - 1.1.2

    Ahoy pirates!

Battered and broken by the cannon fire of an entire sea of adversaries, the Hungering One has returned to the depths and can no longer be summoned. Does this mean the waters are safe to sail again? Not for long. She may be the mightiest of her kind, but she is not the only one of her kind. From the next patch, the surface will be breached by others following in her wake. A new age of predators has dawned and things will never be the same again...

For now a different kind of thrilling adventure has arrived! The first of our regular events introduces Skeleton Thrones. Patch 1.1.2 also brings further improvements for our colour blind pirates and multiple fixes for known issues.

Do you consider yourself a well travelled Pirate who knows the map of the seas like the back of their hook? Combine this with eagle-eye precision with your cannon skill and you may well earn your crew some fine booty this week!

    alt text

    • Skeleton Thrones Event – The Skeleton Thrones are the latest addition to the world of Sea of Thieves. These thrones require a good sense of discovery to find, and for some an even steadier aim to reach. Look high, look low, and look within…

    • Bilge Rat Doubloons – The Bilge Rats trade in their own currency, they don’t have time for gold or any of that official stuff. Each Commendation in the progress screen details the amount of Bilge Rat Doubloons it unlocks with a total of 100 Doubloons available through the Skeleton Thrones event.
    • Bilge Rat Cosmetics – Spend your Bilge Rat Doubloons on exclusive time-limited items too! You have until the 26th of June to purchase the Bone Crusher Hat, Jacket and Dress – priced at 20 Doubloons per item.
    • Bilge Rat Trading – If you’re feeling a thirst for a little extra gold in ye’ pocket or fancy some Reputation in any of the three Trading Companies, the Bilge Rats can also pull a few strings and allow you to trade your Doubloons towards a bit of progress. These latter progression items will be a permanent part of the Bilge Rat shop and aren’t time limited, so make your choice wisely!
    • Bilge Rat Titles – Completing five of the smaller Skeleton Thrones will unlock a unique Pirate Title, and finding all ten will unlock a unique Pirate Title. These titles will unlock straight into your Vanity Chest for maximum bragging rights.

    • Item Colour Variants - Purchased the Grand Admiral, Castaway Bilge Rat, Ruffian Sea Dog or Imperial Sovereign clothing sets but want matching items? Now they are here! Shipments have arrived at the equipment shops on outposts.
    • Pirate Legend Dress - We heard feedback from our Pirate Legends that in the approach to summer, a breezy alternative to the existing Legendary attire would be appreciated. Future Pirate Legends will automatically be awarded this dress, and existing Pirate Legends can grab it in the Hideout for free.
    • Ghost Dress - Arriving in the same shipment as the Pirate Legend Dress, pirates can now complete the Ghost set with the dress, stocked in the Pirate Legends Hideout clothing shop.

Looking for new crew mates? We've got a bunch of places you can visit to seek out like-minded pirates, so sail on over to the official Sea of Thieves:

  • Patch Notes - 1.0.7

    Ahoy pirates!

This week's patch introduces the first version of a much requested feature, "Open and Closed Crews"! This feature provides players with greater control over how they assemble their crew with reserved slots that friends can join in whenever they’re ready. We hope this mitigates one of the key reasons for people misusing the brig and will be monitoring this closely! We'd love to hear your feedback in the "Open and Closed Crews" Mega Thread.

    Features

    alt text

    • This Seat is Taken - Players now have two crew type options available to them, Open and Closed Crews.
Open Crews: This option works in the same way you’re used to. For the Galleon, an open crew will match four players together while also replacing players who leave during a game. For the Sloop, two players will be matched together, with a leaving player being replaced when possible.
Closed Crews: This option allows a single player to begin a game on either a Galleon or a Sloop, allowing friends to join in when they’re available. You can now play with any configuration of players up to the limit on each ship, which is 4 players on the Galleon and 2 players on the Sloop, as well as preventing non-friends from being able to join you. This option replaces the 3 player Galleon and Solo Sloop options in the Main Menu.
Coming Soon: Additional functionality coming soon for Open and Closed Crews includes the ability to dynamically switch between Open and Closed while in the game, in addition to being able to make a session fully private by preventing friends joining.

    Updates

    • Here, take this! - Imagine the scene, skeletons surround your crew, your crew-mate has been bitten by a snake, they have no bananas and there are no resource barrels in sight! Now you can help them CRONCH their way to full health by handing them a banana! This also works with wooden planks and cannon balls. You helpful pirate you!
Unfortunately this feature is causing an issue and needs to be temporarily removed from Patch 1.0.7 while we investigate further.
    • Who Goes There? - When swimming underwater, gamertag and Player Titles are no longer visible. Now you can #BeMoresneakyPirate!
    • Now in Stock! - Imperial Sovereign Blunderbuss, Pistol, Sails, Hull and Liveries are now available to purchase in the Ancient Isles. They were incorrectly listed as available in Patch 1.0.6.
    • Flintlock Pistol - New sound effects for close fire and reloading the Flintlock Pistol.
    • Icons - Within the clothing chest, the icons to unequip all or select a random outfit have been updated.
    • Health Bar UI - Deciding whether to eat that banana or keep swiping your sword? You'll notice some changes to the health bar UI, fancy!

    Progression & Economy Updates

    • Price Changes - Greedy pirates had overpriced the Castaway Bilge Rat weapons and ship liveries. These have now been reduced. Anyone who purchased items within this set pre-price adjustment will have the difference reimbursed very soon.
    • Strike Gold - As Pirates rank up with all the trading companies, the chances of finding more valuable rewards has been increased. Say good-bye to those Castaway Chests at higher ranks!

    Fixed Issues

    • Players should no longer experience details of their pirate (such as hair colour / scars) looking different from their initial selection.
    • Players should no longer experience delayed achievements and commendations from in-game actions.
During last week's maintenance window we made improvements to our servers and services which should have resolved both of the above issues. If you are still encountering the above two issues, please log a Support Ticket so we can investigate this further.
    • Resolved issue that sometimes showed riddle landmarks as glowing rocks.
    • Resolved an issue on Old Faithful Isle which could have prevented players from completing riddle voyages.
    • Bounty Captains and Crew will no longer have their names mixed up.
    • Gunpowder Barrels will no longer cause two explosions if detonated when being held by a player.
    • Loaded cannons will no longer intermittently appear unloaded when returning to the ship.
    • Starting Merchant voyages back to back will no longer prevent the reminder to collect crates from appearing.
    • When playing on wide monitors the settings menu UI will no longer have clipping issues.
    • Being on an Order of Souls voyage no longer causes fewer ambient skeletons to spawn.
    • Cannonball, wooden plank and banana crates no longer always spawn empty.
    • Restarting the game will no longer reset the frame rate lock option.
    • Fixed a collision issue on Thieves' Haven.
    • Equipping the Seadog Hull on a sloop will now match the preview image.
    • Muting all other crews will no longer mute your own crew.
    • The floor texture of the crows nest on the galleon now appears correctly.
    • Resolved a shader issue caused the balcony outside the Captain's Cabin on the galleon to appear incorrectly.
    • There is no longer a gap between a characters head and the Imperial Sovereign Hat when it is equipped.

    • Latency has been improved in multiple-ship and skeleton heavy scenarios due to server optimisations.
    • Frame rates can now be locked to 100 FPS.
    • [PC Only] Fixed GPU driver hangs/crashes on certain graphics devices.
    • [PC Only] Resolved bug which triggered Copperbeard error when alt-tabbing.

Further improvements and optimisations for all platforms are ongoing.

Looking for new crew mates? We've got a bunch of places you can visit to seek out like-minded pirates, so sail on over to the official Sea of Thieves:

  • Patch Notes - 1.0.6

    Ahoy pirates!

We read your feedback in the Customisation Mega Threads and in other parts of the community about the limited variety of available options to dress and customise your pirate. This weeks patch delivers the first wave of cosmetics into shops in the form of expanded sets for Admiral, Bilge Rat, Sea Dog and Sovereign.

Alongside the new cosmetics variations, you'll find that shop stock varies from outpost to outpost, depending on the region you’re in. Don't worry, you can pick up your new Bilge Rat gear in all regions, but you'll have to head to the Ancient Isles to pick up the new Sovereign set!

In addition to more customisation options, Patch 1.0.6 also includes our regular performance improvements and bug fixes.

    Download size:

    Xbox One: 2.40GB
    Xbox One X: 2.40GB
    Windows 10: 2.06GB

Xbox Installation Instructions can be found here.

PC Installation Instructions can be found here.

    Customisation Variety

    • Regional Stock - Shopkeepers in different regions now only stock certain item sets, due to some mistimed deliveries.
    • Strike a Pose - We’ve expanded our clothing range to include the Executive Admiral, Grand Admiral, Rotten Bilge Rat, Castaway Bilge Rat, Corsair Sea Dog, Ruffian Sea Dog and Imperial Sovereign sets.
    • Ship Shape - Multiple sets of ship cosmetics have been added to the shipwright stock. Now you can purchase and equip Grand Admiral, Castaway Bilge Rat, Ruffian Sea Dog and Imperial Sovereign ship customisation sets.
    • Ohh, Shiny! - Visit the weapon shops at the many outposts to find their stocks of Grand Admiral, Castaway Bilge Rat, Ruffian Sea Dog and Imperial Sovereign weapons. Fancy a new weapon style? We’re sure one of these will take your fancy!

    alt text

    • “Launch Crew” Eye of Reach - In celebration of being at sea for a month, we've added a special weapon to the store. This limited edition item will only be available for two weeks, so grab yours while you still can at a very reasonable price of 1 Gold!

    Updates

    • Tutorial Invulnerability - Players are no longer invulnerable during parts of the Tutorial when first launching the game.
This should resolve confusion around players seemingly being invulnerable at outposts. We take all reports very seriously, so please log a Support Ticket and we will investigate further.
    • Skeletons Accuracy - When shooting cannons from islands at long distances, Skeleton accuracy has been reduced. We read your feedback that it was a little extreme... #SkellyOP!
    • Merchant Voyages - It is no longer possible to force Merchant voyages to request delivery to a specific outpost. Now you'll have to earn your cheddar.
    • Sneaky Climbing - The bell on the small ship has been moved to the other side of the ladder, to avoid accidental ringing. We're redecorating! With the Ammo Crate and Bell moved, what are we moving next?

    Fixed Issues

    • [PC Only] Rebinding to the F key will no longer soft lock the radial.
This has been a top reported issue to Support, and we believe this is now resolved. If you are still encountering issues with this rebind locking the screen, please log a Support Ticket and we will investigate further.
    • Stow and Disengage can now be rebound to the same button on a controller
    • Incorrect company icons will no longer be displayed for a split second if trying to get reputation from two different Trading Companies.
    • Joining a dead player whose ship is parked at an active Skeleton Fort will no longer prevent the joining player’s radials from being opened.

    • Hunter of Cursed Crews and Hunter of Fort Skulls Commendations now track.
    • Voyage inventory message is now translated when there are no voyages in the inventory.
    • Loot items can no longer be dropped behind the Captain’s table on the small ship when trying to place them on the table.
    • Ships’ ropes now cast shadows on the deck.
    • Musical instruments can now be used immediately after interacting with parts of the ship.
    • [PC Only] Half Vsync option was removed. The Frame Lock option should now be used instead.

    Performance Improvements

    • Repetitive actions from players will no longer impact the network stability for other players.
    • Frame rate lock option is no longer disabled when vsync is enabled.
    • Significant reductions in time taken to return from the Ferry of the Damned.

    Updates

    • New Message from Beyond - The Ferryman was unhappy with the text that had been written describing how to 'Scuttle' a ship, so he made them write a better version - and then walk the plank.
    • Reload! - Adjusted position of the Ammo Crates on both ships, so they are easier to interact with.
    • Play the next song! - Players will no longer play the same shanty twice in a row.
    • UI Improvements - Images in the Vanity & Clothing Chests now load gracefully when browsing. In addition all UI screens now fade in when opened - Fancy!

    • Increased quality of island rendering at a distance when using the spyglass on all quality settings on both platforms.
This has no effect when the island is too far away to be loaded
    • Multiple server crash fixes.
Further improvements and optimisations for all platforms are ongoing.

    Known Issues

    • Some players cannot see their downloadable content in game.
Once you redeem your code, here is a Support Article that shows you where to find your items in game. If you still cannot find your items in game, please raise a support ticket to log this issue.
    • Players may experience details of their pirate (such as hair colour / scars) looking different from their initial selection.
We are working on a way for our Customer Support team to reset your pirate to your original selection. If you have experienced this bug, please ensure you have logged a Support Ticket for this issue.
    • Skeleton Fort or Bounty quest skeleton waves sometimes spawn in the ground or cannot be found at all.
Further improvements to spawning have been made in this update, and we are working to resolve the issue for all islands. For a potential work around, please read this Support article.
    • [PC] Push to talk option will reset to default (disabled) between sessions.
This bug has been fixed and will be added to a future update.

    Maintenance Window

The game will be unavailable due to necessary maintenance at these times:

    • Wednesday 11th April 9am – 2pm BST

    Updates

    • Message from Beyond - A message from the Ferryman has been nailed to the door post on the Ferry of the Damned instructing players on how to scuttle their ship.
This is a reminder to players that if their ship and / or crew is in a position they want to get out of, simply going to "My Crew" in the settings page and voting to "Scuttle Ship" will sink the ship and start the crew in a new location.
    • Weapon Balancing - Reduced Blunderbuss Damage and Increased Eye of Reach damage.
We've been reviewing the data on players weapon choices and damage dealt across our weapons and made some balancing changes. We will continue to monitor this change and further tweak as needed.
    • [PC Only] Aim Down Sights Sensitivity - We've increased the default mouse sensitivity to allow for more efficient aiming and to be in parity with the controller, as we heard your feedback regarding how mouse-mats around the world were being worn out due to how painfully slow it was to aim down the sights.
We are also currently working on further improvements for a future update which will include an ADS slider in the Settings to allow players to choose a sensitivity they feel comfortable with.
    • [PC Only] Mouse Binds - We've added mouse scroll up and down to the list of controls players can use to rebind actions to.

    Fixed Issues

    • Enabling 'non-directional' chat no longer allows non-crew players to be heard anywhere in the world.
    • Players should no longer get into a state where they can no longer equip a second weapon.
    • We have corrected an issue with players receiving very little warning of a server shutdown. Players should now receive a minimum warning of 30 minutes for a server shut down.
We are still working to ensure that server shutdowns are something that a player would only experience during scheduled maintenance. In the meantime we aim to give players more opportunity to react to a shutdown should it occur.

    Performance Improvements

    • In response to reports of poor ping times in South America, we have now deployed Sea Of Thieves to a South American data centre.
    • Multiple server and client crash fixes.

Further improvements and optimisations for all platforms are ongoing.

    Known Issues

    • Trading Companies now have limited voyage stock that refreshes at 6am every day (in-game time). This limited voyage stock is currently not explained during purchasing.
We are still working on a fix for this. This was discussed in our Launch Update article written by Executive Producer, Joe Neate.
    • Bounty quest skeleton waves sometimes spawn in the ground or cannot be found at all.
Improvements to spawning have been made in this update, and we are working to resolve the issue for all islands. For a potential work around, please read this Support article.
    • Pirates can be migrated to another server after completing a Skeleton Fort, and sailing away with the Vault Key. After migration, they will find that the vault is empty upon their return.
We are working on a fix. A short term solution is to not sail away from the Skeleton Fort when you have the Vault Key.
    • [PC] Push to talk option will reset to default (disabled) between sessions.
    • Message from Beyond on the Ghost Ship isn't translated to other languages.

  • Ahoy there Pirates!

    Maintenance Window

The game will be unavailable due to necessary maintenance at these times:

    • Wednesday 4th April 9am – 1pm BST

    Updates

    • Ship respawn distance - When a ship sinks, we have significantly increased the distance at which the crews new ship will respawn. Ships will now respawn outside of visible view of the ship that sank them. This is in response to lots of player feedback which highlighted that the previous spawn distance was resulting in "griefing" behaviour and stalemates at the forts!
    • Mermaid Teleport - Pirates will now have to drop any treasure item they are carrying before being able to see the 'Teleport back to ship' option from the mermaid. We saw feedback that players were accidentally leaving treasure behind in the sea, so wanted to make it more clear that when you teleport you leave your treasure behind!

    Fixed Issues

    • [PC Only] Players should no longer experience the 0x80070005 error or get stuck at 99% during installation.
    • Players are no longer able to fall through the ship geometry and into the sea if they are to repeatedly jump on the chests/barrel located mid deck
    • The voyage image on the captain’s table now displays the rank (promotion) banner in the top right corner, to keep in line with other areas of the game UI.
    • When accepting a game invitation whilst matchmaking, the game no longer enters a temporary unresponsive state.
    • Bounty Captains will no longer spawn multiple times.

    Performance Improvements

    • Multiple server and client crash fixes.

Further improvements and optimisations for all platforms are ongoing.

    Known Issues

    • Players may experience details of their pirate (such as hair colour / scars) looking different from their initial selection.
    • Achievements earned prior to March 29th are delayed, but will be awarded once our fix is applied.
    • Some players are unable to equip a second weapon. For a potential workaround see our Support Article.
For an update on these three issues, please read our Launch Update written by Executive Producer, Joe Neate.
    • Some players have not received their Black Dog Pack code.
If you pre-ordered from the official Microsoft Store, please submit a Support ticket through Support. If you pre-ordered from another retailer, please contact them to receive your code.
    • Some players cannot see their downloadable content in game.
Please read our Support Article for a potential workaround for this issue.
    • Bounty quest skeletons sometimes do not spawn or cannot be found.
If you encounter this bug, a potential work around is to sail away from the island until it’s out of range, and then sail back in to trigger the Island Name banners.

For an update on both of these issues, please read our Launch Update written by Executive Producer, Joe Neate.
    • Bounty quest skeletons sometimes do not spawn or cannot be found.
If you encounter this bug, a potential work around is to sail away from the island until it’s out of range, and then sail back in to trigger the Island Name banners.
    • Joining a player whose ship is parked at an active skeleton fort will prevent the joining player’s radial menus being opened.
    • Rare Lore Items throughout the world will read in English, regardless of current language settings.
    • "Hunter of Cursed Crews", Commendation is not updating.
    • Players may become comically smaller after fighting the Kraken.

    Updates

    • Pick a Pirate – When selecting a pirate, we heard your feedback that the choice was difficult! So, we've added an additional option to favourite a pirate during the selection process, so you can keep the ones you like and refresh the others!

    alt text

    • Progression Unlocked –For the very first time, players can now progress to level 50 within each trading company, unlocking lots of new cosmetics along the way.
    • Mermaid Respawn – Based on feedback from our Betas and Scale Tests, we have changed the respawn flow when your ship has sunk. Instead of respawning your mermaid at the site of your shipwreck, if your ship is sunk and you die, you will now automatically spawn at your new ship from the Ferry of the Damned.
    • Removed Auto-Lock on Melee Attacks – We received feedback from our Betas and Scale Tests that this was a clunky experience, so it has now been removed. No more accidental cutlass-killing the pirate crews you’ve made un-easy alliances with!

    Known Issues

    • Bounty quest skeletons sometimes do not spawn or cannot be found.
If you encounter this bug, a potential work around is to sail away from the island until it’s out of range, and then sail back in to trigger the Island Name banners.
    • Joining a dead player whose ship is parked at an active skeleton fort will prevent the joining player’s radial menus being opened.
    • If you are next to a Pirate when they equip a Title it won't display until you move away from them and come back.
    • Sometimes players will load onto the Ghost Ship without their clothes.
