Xbox App (Windows 10) Invites not coming through

    I know this app is a living nightmare.
    I know no one has an answer to why I am not getting notifications of invites or LFG confirms.
    I have likely done everything you will suggest in this thread as troubleshooting.

    However I would like for you to slam me with literally any information to make this God-Awful app function as it was intended to function.

    Things I have tried:
    In Windows Settings ~ System ~ Notification Settings, I have unchecked and rechecked every box.
    In the Xbox App, I have gone to Notifications and unchecked and rechecked every box.
    (These two steps were what have worked in the past, and are not working now.)
    I have reset my PC, and Router.
    I have obtained an Open (Cone) NAT which took what feels like a lifetime.
    I've forwarded ports, distributed manual MAC addresses to my PC in my Router's settings, enabled a Static IP as to make 100% sure the NAT was not my issue.
    I have checked to make sure that the windows notifications system had no limiting factors, be it Do-Not-Disturb or otherwise.
    I've made 100% sure that my antivirus software was not the problem by disabling it entirely, and attempting to get a notification.
    All ports have been forwarded, if for any reason a hard-wired, open NAT, static IP, manually distributed protocol was not sufficient.

    After all of these things, I am without Xbox notifications, and because of this I am very, very close to never attempting to enjoy this game with anyone ever again, and it is Microsoft's fault.

    No, I will not limit myself to sifting through dead Discord servers for PC-Only players. This is an Xbox community game, and it should function as it, and it's associated applications were designed and intended to do.

    Without further ado, please do your best to suggest anything that I may have missed.

    Install xbox beta app, open it and sign in.
    See if notifications start coming.

    (Also this app allows you to upload custom clips for games that are edited!)

    I'll try it out. I'll even uninstall the official one. This is such a pain in the neck.

    I have the same issue. I just work around it by sending the invites to other people, or by directly joining their games.

    I don't get notifications popping in from the Xbox App at all. They usually appear when I reboot my PC.

    I have a feeling this is a Windows 10 issue more so than just the Xbox App as Game Bar notifications don't appear for me either (again, until I reboot).

    Typically, I play with friends though so I either send the invites or else I join on them from their profiles. It's a real pain though.

    Still unacceptable if MS is attempting to corner the PC market. Unacceptable.

    Yep, I agree. MS needs to work on fixing this. Not just in the Xbox App but notifications on Windows 10 in general are poorly implemented.

    One thing I've noticed with this garbage app, is I still recieve invites sometimes, but I am not notified of it. Try checking the bottom right message button on the task bar. They may be sitting there just not alerting you.

    Side not never have I've struggled so much to get a headset functioning on a program. Looking at your Xbox Teredo, your garbage and should be sent to the Ranch.

    There is some problem with Windows 10 and notifications that causes notifications to stop working until you reboot. I have had it consistently since Windows 10 has been released, and have no idea what causes it. Apparently, the "Microsoft Geniuses" on their web site don't have a clue either, but odds are super-high that if you rebooted that your invites would come in for a short time.

    Right now, my notifications say there is one to read... if I click it, it is empty. No new notifications. That will not change until I reboot. For a short time they will work again, and eventually they will get stuck on a number but not show anything new.

    Reboot... or just join off of your friend directly.

    Yep, pretty much exactly my experience.

    I read a while ago (and dont remember what happened when I tried it) that if you open the Task Manager and find Windows Explorer under Processes and then right-click it and hit Restart it will cause notifications to work again for a period of time.

    I did it earlier and it did clear out the two notifications that I had that were nothing... but I have not received any new notifications.

    I appreciate everyone's suggestions. This shouldn't be an issue, but thanks all the same for the input. If anyone has anything more to add, please do. It should be a more talked about subject.

    Do you have the xbox app?
    If so, do notifications come through there?

    Also lastly, I see you looked for do-not-disturb, but if you right click the notification icon, and check what Focus Assist is set to, is it off?

    @dyfrin Yes, off, in the contexual menu, and the setting when you open the action center. Also tried toggling this feature on/off, then toggle, and restart, then looked for other options that I shouldn't have to look for.

    I feel like it's windows Services issue, and I don't know enough about debugging to play Microsoft Tech support.

    Ack, earlier i meant to say xbox app on a phone? like ios/android and does it go through on there? At least then you can see them and not miss it, not a work around but a little help.

    Oh, I get messages. The app works, except for things that 'require' the notification.
    In the "Notifications tab" on the app, the invites don't come through because they're tied directly to the Windows Action Center mumbo-jumbo.
    I think this could be an easy fix, honestly. Tie notifications to the app, like on Xbox.
    Stop trying to integrate Windows into everything.

    Humh... I run Windows 10 and the genuine xbox app, recieve notifications and such without any issue, am able to join friend's game sessions... Weird.

    Hey one thing, how do you sign into the computer? Is it a local account or a microsoft "online" account?

    @zeo You must make sure you are logged into windows 10 on the right microsoft account. If you are not, like I wasn't, you wont' get any notifications.

    Pretty sure it's a Microsoft account. It uses all my login credentials from the Microsoft site, same login for my Xbox, as well.

    Yeah, mine is signed into Windows 10 and the Xbox App using my Microsoft/Xbox Live account.

    I did have an invite notification come through yesterday from a friend but only that one and I think because he told me in advance and I had the app focused when he sent it. Later on, I was watching something and I missed two notifications. The same thing happens if I am playing a game or just don't have the Xbox App focused.

    So it would seem to me that Windows isn't correctly sending background notifications from the Xbox App, even though I have it set to do so in the Windows notifications settings and checked all the permissions.

    It only affects the Xbox App as I get background notifications from other apps all the time - Steam, Discord, Origin... etc...

    Sometimes but not always. Usually, it will just show the badge with the number on the bottom right but the actual notifications section will be empty.

    If I reboot, they'll typically appear or the number will go away.

    Yeah totally a windows problem, Rare can't help.
    Did you try the beta app?
    That is all I use after having the same issues before, but I can't for sure say that was the fix, because I also destroyed my user account by logging into admin, deleting my user, and logging in "fresh".

    Yep, fairly certain it's just an Xbox App problem...

    Did you try the beta app?

    ... Nope. I've been in various beta programs over the years and they tend to be more trouble than they're worth. I can wait for MS to fix it and, until then, I can just use the join on friends option when invites don't come through.

    I had this issue for a long time, not sure which windows update killed my notifications... I did everything short of reinstalling Windows 10 trying to fix it and it would work for a few hours. But would eventually stop showing any notifications.

    The issue is now fixed for me finally.

    I got fixed via windows update when I was researching why I could not install Astroneer on my PC. The game needed a newer version of Windows... Checked my version and it was older. Went to windows update... It showed an update to newer build had failed due to power loss... Took me 2 days of trying to get said update to install( needed to clean boot with anti virus shut off). Once it installed and I rebooted my notifications finally worked. And they are still working today about 7 days later.

    Not sure it will work for everyone, but it Did for me.

    If you do this it should fix the issue almost guaranteed

    Uninstall and Reinstall Xbox related apps - Windows+X, Click Windows Powershell (Admin), Copy the below command and right-click in Powershell to paste it and Enter

    get-appxpackage xbox | remove-appxpackage

    Now, you need to reinstall it
    Use below Powershell command to install

    Get-AppxPackage -allusers xbox | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
