@x1-two said in Got my mind blown when I moved SoT to SSD:
I play almost exclusively on Xbox. And lately I found that the initial loading into the server takes longer than ever before. I get to see 14 (repeating) pages of ingame hints before entering the game.
So I decided to check it out on PC. Want to know how many pages of hints I see? 2! Loading times are around 15 seconds on PC and 110 seconds on One X.
I play on PC with the game on an SSD. Takes about 15 seconds to load to the "press any button" screen. Then around 40-45 seconds to get into a game from the "set sail" screen.
I mainly play with one friend on PC and a few friends on Xbox. My buddy on PC has his game on a standard HDD and loads in about 10-15 seconds after me. Then my friends on Xbox load in about 20-30 seconds later.
So your times seem accurate, yes. It's a nice feature but not sure if it makes a huge difference unless you server hop a bit, as there are no other real loading screens (excluding Ferry, which should be more or less the same for everyone).
I think if you have an Xbox One X, using an external SSD should also cutdown on loading a lot, but I've not tested that myself as my Xbox One is a Day One standard.
