The Jumping Sword Lunge/Key Bindings for Controllers and more...something for everyone!

I plan to make some "on the comms" videos and see if people enjoy them or not : )

Would love to hear the back and forth and strategy discussion on some of the manuevers in this video and in the videos to come.

Recording your team chat on XBOX required a little more effort then on PC. Recording your team is easy but recording yourself requires a splitter cable or an extra microphone.

    Soon...

Very much appreciated! The splitter cable I need should show up today and I'll get to it.

  • @Sneakler What do you capture you console gameplay with?

@Sneakler What do you capture you console gameplay with?

Al elgato capture device. But not a freestanding one, the device is installed into a PCI port on my PC which sits next to my XB1X. The splitter I am about to install will allow me to plug one end of my XBOX microphone into the PC so I can capture my own voice while capturing my party chat through enabling their voices to play through the speakers and headset simultaneously.

Are you using the 1080 on-board card or the 4K one?

  • Thanks for the tips in the video, the gunpowder parts helped a lot. Sank a galleon last night while on my sloop. Hopefully you will post more videos!!

    Cheers sneakler!

  • Nice video,

My only feedback is there is no need for the music. It is a bad free audio loop and got quickly annoying, I wanted to mute your video because of it.

Either reduce the level of the background music to much lower and voices higher, or remove the music as it isn't needed at all.

We had some good action last night as well! I am glad you took that galleon down though! I am working on a couple good videos right now but they take me time. I wish I could put out daily content...but if I did...it would be bad content : )

Thanks for the kind words I sincerely appreciate it!

Thanks Sig! That is the reason I tried to mix in entertaining clips along with the tips because a majority of players are familiar with alot of the in-game mechanics. I am glad you still enjoyed it. I am working on something epic by the way. Last night we had a hilarious encounter and we have something even better planned for this weekend. I hope it all goes well and the video should turn out amazing! Stay tuned : )

I am working on finding the balance : ) Near the end I made the music less noticeable but during the beginning portions I agree with you, was too loud.

But still, I appreciate you taking the time to watch and give some feedback : )

The HD60 Pro is what I use. Which is the 1080 card. Which forces me to turn off 4K on my XB1X and my nice monitor I play on. The 4k version of the capture card was a little too expensive for my liking : )

  • @sneakler sorry I came across quite a***y in my first comment. I had been reading lots of negative comments on the forum and fallen into the trend a bit myself.

There are some great free audio sites out there, I try and find ones that don't loop and keep them quite low key.

    Nice tips though.

@Suntura I 100% was not offended and I was being sincere in my response : )

I literally appreciated what you said and planned to work on learning how to mix sound better in the next video, no apology necessary and I am just happy that you enjoyed the video other then the mix being off!

In fact, I was using only one website for music, and your comment along with some others who agree with you motivated me to seek out another site and I downloaded 10+ new tracks. So thank you!

the video was fine, some people complain about EVERYTHING...

Yes it amazes me when someone shares something designed to help people that they took time out of their day to make and they are attacked for it. On top of that the youtube channel is not even monetized which is refreshing.

    Why you talk....
    .....
    with such long pauses....
    .......
    It feels like......
    ........
    you're just trying.......
    ........
    to artificially....
    ......
    inflate the length.....
    .........
    of the video.

This isn't constructive criticism. This is just someone being rude.

Question for you also. How can speech make a video longer if every clip ends after the moment of action? Hopefully that makes sense to you. Talking slow or fast does not change the length of the video on the screen correct? He narrates the current clip and then the clip ends and he narrates the next clip. I think you either just hate the way he talks, the sound of his voice, or you were on one of the ships that he sank. Or all three.

You should learn the difference between constructive criticism and just flat out being rude and condescending. You just ranted about things you created in your head as Sneakler mentioned.

Please share a youtube video you had something nice to say something about so we know that you have at least not been rude to every person whose video you watched.

I'd say he was blunt, but not trying to be rude. There was legitimate constructive criticism in the post, and honestly, the OP's reply was very dismissive of everything he had to say. I can understand the misunderstanding about the way he was speaking. But it was legitimate feedback about how he could improve and it seems to me like the OP ignored it.

If he did more than one take, he could have easily improved the video without changing the way he speaks or trying to be anything other than himself.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion : )

I would say it was a combination of being blunt and being rude. When you assign a letter grade to someones video, and accuse them of talking slow to make the video longer you are being rude...that is no longer criticism. Yes there were other parts of the post that included valid criticisms.

But no different then any debate whether it be politics or something else. Once someone enters the gutter, the rest the doesn't matter.

You can say I was dismissive but I was very direct if you go back and look at everything I replied with. There were two posts I made in reply to that person. I literally addressed everything they had to say and why it was just nonsense and also made sure they knew how worthless their advice was to me.

The thing about advice is, it's free. You don't have to take it. I chose not to.

As a new youtube channel, having your first video have 110 likes and only 5 dislikes doesn't make you relevant, but it let's you know that you are doing something right...so when people come along and act like this guy did, im okay with looking a little mean to let them know you don't talk to people like that and if do you should be prepared to defend your stupid comments.

Did you notice he did not respond to anything I said as well : )

Even if someone is being a jerk, it doesn't mean you can't learn something from the experience.

All I'm saying is if you disregard all advice, you're not going to improve. And making a video and getting a good reaction doesn't mean you can't improve from it. You can't forget that. Offering criticism doesn't mean that they didn't like the video, either. One can like something even if it has flaws. Your video had useful information and for that I liked it. That doesn't mean that you can't improve it, or use the results from your first effort to make your next one even better. Being able to take criticism is a valuable skill. It's something I learned from playing games with PvP- often I'd perform poorly and get c**p for it, but in between the people being jerks and such I found people that actually told me where I went wrong and how to fix it, and now I'm better at these things. You said that you addressed everything they said and "why it was nonsense-" the thing is, it wasn't all nonsense, it just wasn't all what you wanted to hear, and rather than saying something like "Thanks for the tip, I'll try recording the audio a few times next time" or "Next time I'll review my video and look for places I can polish it". you just called their advice nonsense.

Don't ignore criticism just because you don't like it. Take it and go from making a video with 110 likes to making a video with 500 or 1000 on your next attempt. You have the potential (and I mean that), it is up to you to do what you need to do to realize that potential. I can see you already have some improvements in mind. Just remember, even if you don't agree with a poster it doesn't mean you can't gain anything from hearing what they said.

Nobody is perfect therefore any and all suggestions are taken seriously. But all suggestions should be respectful or I am the type of person to let people know that I am not one that is going to be talked to like some punching bag.

You do realize that guy completely trashed something I worked hard to make. Which is of course something he is entitled to do. I am also entitled to let him know I do not value anything he said.

When everyone is saying they liked something and one person comes along and starts trashing you...I come from a place where it's acceptable to stand your ground and let them have it. Taking the high road is my thing sometimes, just not that time.

As far as everything else you said, of course nobody should just ignore criticism because they don't like it, and I haven't at all.

I have learned that I likely need to invest in a new microphone, I should give doing multiple voice-overs a chance, and I should work on balancing audio. Those are the trends of criticisms.

That guy was an outlier mentioning stuff nobody else had issues with combined with a rude delivery gave me the ability to treat him as that. A rude outlier whose views do not fall in line with the target audience.

I think its a big overstatement to say he "completely trashed" everything. he could have worded it a lot better, but you have to understand, nobody can know from one example that this is simply the way you talk and the way you do this and that. I think you'll have a much better time if you don't assume malice from everyone who has something negative to say. I myself am not always such an eloquent speaker and end up upsetting people when I really had no intention to do so, because I did not understand them well enough to know how they would react to different phrases in different contexts.

Also: Someone saying something in a way you perceive as rude doesn't give you the right to be rude back.. Keep in mind if someone else breaks a rule (for example) to hurt you, if you break the same rule back you get in trouble too. There is the old adage "treat others as you want to be," but I still do not find it appropriate to be mean or abusive to someone else just because they were mean/abusive. I just ignore/stop talking to them/block them and leave it at that.

Also, you're calling him an outlier, but I agree with a number of his points. I just approached you in a more friendly way and I want it to be absolutely clear that I like what you did- it just has areas where it can be improved, if you are serious a bout making more guide videos and such.
