If the PvP isn't fixed soon, the game is going to fail...

    The spawn killing and griefing is out of control. Do you know how horrible WoW would have been if you could literally spawn kill people anywhere in the world? Give me a break. I think if you kill the same person twice in a row, you pay that person 2000 gold. Or maybe when you respawn you're a ghost for 1 minute, but can attack others. I don't know. Something to deter it. Or a passive mode for if you don't want to experience it on either end. SOMEthing.

    Like I literally had a 4 person crew surround my ship with sniper rifles and their ship and just killing me over and over again as soon as I spawned. And this went on until I logged out.

    If this kind of horrible community isn't fixed, and fixed soon, this game community is going to end up just being toxic people killing toxic people and the community will die.

    Ball is in Rare's court now, so let's see what they do. Because the direction the community is going already is straight up awful. Let's see if Rare listens to the game's community.

    Scuttle the ship. It does not promote toxic play. Sitting there and letting them kill you constantly shows them they can keep doing it when ever they want. Make them at least work for it instead of enabling them.

    @xxxxnoodlexxxx You've been beaten by them, why choose to go back? Scuttle gets you out. Yeah they're annoying but how would they fix it? Invunerability makes you extremely overpowered, sometimes you don't mean to kill people twice, and losing gold for it is a big problem, I just think you should respawn into a new server so it stops you running into them again. You just got a really bad situation. It sucks but not much can be done. Scuttle

    Rare already added an option in game to give up and move on. If you choose to be stubborn and not scuttle your ship, that's your fault.

    Literally doesn't fix the problem of that kind of gameplay being promoted by Rare. You defending it and insubstantiating my claim just tells me you're part of the problem. Maybe you're a griefers yourself, I don't know. I don't see how you can deny how awful the community is after just a few days.

    @xxxxnoodlexxxx the community is great. Every crew I've been on has been helpful and willing to learn. We've only attacked when attacked first. Maybe try joining a galleon if a sloop is too difficult for you

    Oh yeah spawn killing is a huge issue for me but all its made me do is be extremely attentive of my surroundings to avoid people at all cost since most every one will try and spawn camp given the chance which blows

    It wouldn't be horrible if everyone was the same power level and had the same ability to defend themselves, like in Sea of Thieves. Maybe crew up and play with some friends? The sloop is intentionally hard, the game is built around teamwork, and pvp is a part of the game. There's plenty of single player games out there if that's what you're looking for.

    The event you're describing is exceedingly rare. In a recent poll, 84% of players said they are willing to not attack on sight. You're building a strawman argument and it's toxic to the development of good core gameplay for this game.

    Also, killing a person is not griefing. Surrounding you and killing you repeatedly from a safe distance until you give up your ship is not griefing; it is a legitimate tactic to safely secure your potential loot.

    It's not outright deniable, but the plural of anecdote isn't evidence. Personally, I've been playing a lot for the last few days and I've never been spawn camped and been shot on an island exactly once.

    The problem doesn't need fixing because a core aspect of the game is "your stuff isn't yours until you hand it in". You're in danger until the moment your sell the item for gold - and if we for whatever reason prevent PvP in those areas, this will be undermined.

    You have a tool to break out of loops like that, use it. Sitting there getting killed over and over whilst complaining about it is the exact response they're trying to provoke.

    So your idea of being a pirate is completely making other players experience negative? Grow up. While yes you can do this, it doesn't mean you should. I think if you kill the same person or ship more than 3 times then they should get punted to another server just so people like you will have to move on.

    @jarlofwindheim that's a misconpection yes pirate did attack and kill individuals but not for fun they did it to steal goods cargo or other properties. Not senseless violence.

    LOL. I'd love to see the sample group for that, because I'd put it at about 75% of people I have run into since midnight launch attack on sight. Also, they had already killed me and taken my loot. They proceeded to spawn kill me for 10 minutes before I logged off for the night.

    So passive mode and PvE servers both are saying you want to be able to powerlevel over others who have to risk it. I can't agree with that.

    Gold penalty and ghost make no sense. Just scuttle the damn ship. Why should you be given God mode to avenge yourself. It's against the whole damn spirit of the game.

    Refusing to scuttle while saying "I should be able to kill them back without having to try" or "I should be paid to get killed" is against everything gaming stands for.

    Please please please don't blame anyone else but yourself

    I can easily handle myself and solo a small sloop and not run into any trouble at all do you know why?

    1. Sloop is insanely fast if you angle the sails right , galleons cannot catch them
    2. Hide your ship lower you mast to 20% of so , I jam mine at the side of rocks and have seen players crash and sink trying to board me.
    3. watch the horizon , you get going early they cant catch you
    4. See ships at outpost ? go to another
    5. Join a galleon crew then you have 3 other people watching your safety.

    Stop blaming the game for you failings all the tools are there

    Yes. A free pass to grind out gold with no threat of it being taken from them.

    Unless you're willing to say "I want PvE servers where you can't go into PvP servers with the same character ever". Which would be an interesting addition to help people who want that without negatively impacting people working for their gold. I certainly would be fine with that.

    Scuttling in its current form doesn't arm against it either. It's just a way to flee the battle that you have to face in the end... unarmed. Scuttling is okay for unjamming your ship, but griefers are just coming back at you until them as an asset are utilised for the common good.

    Plus, the griefers don't have gold in the first place. No need for it coz it doesn't get them any solid leverage like the environment does.

    @skeletonsword18 I think if there were to be a PvP and PvE server the characters should be separate in my honest opinion most games I've played had it that way. So everyone essentially has equal opportunity.

    If the only options are to A: Give up or B: Give up then there is no option but to give up. That needs to be fixed. And yeah, my grow up comment was out of hand and i apologize. That all being said i still say that if you kill the same person/ship more than 3 times the game itself should transfer that player to another server. Most new players will have no clue about the shuttle option, it's not something that is in your face. Maybe after the X number of deaths the option should be popped up in a window asking "Do you wish to scuttle (destroy) your ship and spawn elsewhere?" If they say yes, then the ship gets sunk and they spawn as far across the map from where it sank as possible. Under the current system if you scuttle you are more often than not going to spawn in spyglass range of the place you died which just means the people who killed you can just hunt you down again. To me and most of the people i talk to about it think the constant zergling rush mentality of the toxic players isn't fun and is much more annoying than any server issues we experience.
