Crossplay voice chat: PC players can't hear me, but I can hear them.

  • I am on Xbox and am trying to play with PC friends

I have had no problems having other Xbox users hear me, but none of my PC friends could hear me in game. All of them said they say a "Muted" symbol above my head. None of them had me specifically muted.

I had one of them join me in an Xbox Live party and I could hear him in there just fine (well, quality wasn't great, but I could hear him).

I've checked all the recommended settings and he claims to have done the same, without success.

Without 2 way voice chat, this game is pretty much dead in the water for me.

  • Had this same issue! the ingame proximity chat does not work half the time.. what we had to do is create a party using the xbox app on the PC and invite the 2 people playing on xbox to that xbox party and use party voice the party had to be created by someone on the xbox console and the PC players invited to it.

  • We had no problems with it all last night, with two pc players and two xbox players... and no issues hearing other players canadian cries of defeat either...lol!

What really made it fun though is playing music and dancing on the ghost ship. we need more dance options, either from quests, chests, or messages in a bottle. I want a pirate break dance!

  • Make sure you aren't in an xbox party.

  • Ive had a few issues as well. But it has worked most of the time. The proximity chat is not always on point either. But all in all for the most part it has been good.

This "crossplay" is really awful, they should have made it optional...

We had another player try joining the xbox party and the horrid squeal coming from that player was so unbearable that it may have summoned one of the old gods. ya...that ruled out that option. There is a reason I stopped playing on PC some time ago.

At the time, no one was in an xbox party

I'm assuming these are bugs, which will get worked out. But Crossplay means not splitting the user base, which also means more players in one pool. This is very good for a game dependent on multiplayer and I'm glad they are giving it a shot.

Wow you're really chasing this "end crossplay" nonsense. It works perfectly, I have a fine time destroying console players. Full Soverign set including ship, 30+ all factions. Play better, post less.

  • Not quite sure what we did different, but crossplay voice works now for all players. I wish I had a solution for people with the same issue, but thems the breaks. Good luck and may the wind be at your back.

  • I am having all kinds of issues with in-game PC voice chat. Sometimes my team can hear me and I can hear them, others I cannot. I never hear other pirates.
