A question to the community on season 21

  • There are some very credible rumors that the next 6 months or so will have little to no content.

That being said, I have an honest question for other forum members:

If Season 21 was JUST outfit presets, would that be enough?

I think it would be. Progression is completely reliant on cosmetics. so it would great for us to save multiple presets themed on different factions, regions, and Arcs of our Pirate's Career.

(Maybe even replace the underutilized guild emote page with a special emote menu to change outfits on the fly. people changing outfits quick would do wonders for RP and sneaky disguises. maybe even special animations when you change into an outfit that has a curse equipped on it, like a cloud of ghostly smoke surrounding you for the Ghost Curse, or a burning Aura for the impromptu Skelly curse transformation.)

"Just" Maybe not so but it would be first thing they dont in years, something the whole gaming community wants.
But..would it be exactly what we want? or another "We heard you, but here is this instead. Close enough"

  • let's assume they DON'T fumble and put outfit slots in the emporium, and it's just one unified cosmetic chest with free presets. imo it would be enough

  • On one hand I think that cosmetic presets being the only addition for 3 months would be extremely demoralizing for a lot of people, probably myself included. On the other hand, we’ve had several seasons already that were in my opinion so lackluster they may as well have been 3 months of nothing. So honestly, if it would give the developers the time they need to work on something actually big for the next few seasons, it might be enough to just have a couple tiny additions for the next few months.
Again though that would depend on whether or not the company is able to utilize that extra time to make the next few seasons really worth it

  • Do you think they actually even can make outfit presets at this point? Something as simple as saving a list of cosmetics is too hard, to the point where they have to publicly say things to try to reassure the playerbase that its coming still. "Pirate profiles are not coming at the expense of outfit saving" is a literal direct quote from Mike Chapman himself. Pirate profiles came and went and we still have no outfit saving. This game is doomed, not because of bad ideas, but because they have built such a pile of spaghetti code on a server architecture built for businesses and not games, that they have no way to change it without breaking things massively. The first health bar issue was that sometimes it would take 1 extra second to update, and to fix it they added a health bar that froze completely any time you took drowning, fire, poison, ink or boiling damage. They updated it again, and now the new health bar has the issue of sometimes just never registering that you took damage, so you think you have full health when you don't, with a special added bonus of occasionally breaking the other way, making it so your health always seems like its low no matter how much you eat.

  • @PotatoSord Here’s hoping rare has a great A. S. S
Over the next 6 months… (Anti Spaghetti Strikeforce)

That’s the name now. We aren’t changing it. I don’t care what the press release calls it, that’s the name.

    Ohhhhhkaaaaay LOL

  • I think that'd be close to enough, as far as new system content goes. A nice big feature, and maybe some cool tasks to do with older content to unlock something. Some encouragement to do something in particular, that one is not often encouraged to do - there's plenty of things in this game that have simply fallen by the wayside.

  • Not even close, but somehow it'd be more exciting than Season 20.

  • I'm going to speak on the behalf of the non-toxic fans. We want outfit presets but we don't want it as a headline addition, just a side one. One that doesn't take too many resources to make nor what everything is focused around. Also, I'm saying non-toxic because the game has received a lot of hate recently, genuine and blind.
