Stop with the ‘hitreg’ nonsense

  • This is not a suggestion to the devs but more so to the people here who cry about hitreg. I experienced hitreg for the first time today, against the siren queen while getting all comms for The Sunken Pearl. Thing is, I was using eye of reach without scoping, and I figured that it was just because the eor needs ads to work properly. Let me get this straight. You guys are mad… because hipfiring a sniper is a bad strategy?
Maybe this is a suggestion to the devs. A suggestion to focus on real server issues instead of non-existent hitreg. (Before you guys go crying on about how “it’s your first time because you’re new!” Or “it’s more common in PvP!” I have 300 hours on this game and have spent maybe a sixth of that time battling in hg or at world events.)

  • Tl;dr hitreg is just your shots missing because you don’t ads.

  • @ewokbuilder bro.. hitreg is your shot connecting on your client and not doing damage

  • @captain-knyt but it’s all the PvP sweats who doublegun with eor who complain about it. Coincidence?

  • @ewokbuilder bait

  • Hitreg occurs in many more scenarios than hipfiring a sniper. It is an issue with your shot not registering on the client-side. Maybe it happens more to "PVP Sweats", because we fire guns more often, and double-gunning means that you have 2 times the amount of shots, meaning 2 times the chance of hitreg. People miss shots, yes, but hitreg is real, and just because you haven't experienced it dosen't mean it's fake or an excuse for missing shots.

Hitreg is not limited to guns, it basicly affects everything that interacts with another player, so also sword (both the slice as the block), cannonballs, curseballs, throwables, etc.

  • @super87ghost yeah exactly, in my experience it’s been more prevalent with guns though. Still, the point stands that hitreg is in fact a thing.

  • Fella knows what he talking about.
But of course...those who deny it will defend it :P

  • @ewokbuilder

I believe there's a clip showing a player hitting a chicken numerous times with a sword before it died.

  • @europa4033

    0-0
Was this after or before when Flameheart rised(seabound soul), his influence caused all animals health to drop...

  • @ewokbuilder this is one of the best troll posts we've had on here in a while.

    Bravo, sir.

  • @europa4033 I’m pretty sure they nerfed animal health, and also half those didn’t even hit

  • @ewokbuilder nope actually reg has been a gamewide problem, not just with shots

I'd like to see a player do a whole write-up of how they're quitting the game because a single skeleton didn't shatter when it got shot

  • When you really think about it from a dev standpoint, hitreg literally cannot exist from.
You put a hitbox on a character, if a bullet touches the hitbox, the character takes damage. I genuinely cannot see a company with Microsoft funding failing to get hitboxes right. It just does not add up. Maybe it’s that the hitbox doesn’t cover the whole model, but from a technical standpoint, if you hit something, they take damage. It’s that simple. The only explanation is poorly made hitboxes which is not hitreg.

  • @ewokbuilder There's a lot more complicated factors at play my friend.

Firstly, we have server latency, stuff like that, the hitbox can lag off the attached pawn.

Secondly, Unreal isn't perfect, sometimes it won't detect overlaps.

There's a lot more but that's pretty much the basis.

So you experienced hitreg for the first time and since the way it happened to you was by hip-firing eor (nobody does that, btw, it’s inaccurate), and your conclusion is that all hitreg must happen this way? In response to your conclusion, you posted a cringe ode to the “sweats”.

I haven’t read the comments yet, but I can imagine.

Can’t tell if you’re being serious or not.

Are you aware of how long 600 hours is for an allegedly common occurrence to only happen once?

  • @ewokbuilder
You saying hitreg cannot exist from a dev standpoint has to be ragebait.

Literally every FPS game in existance has hitreg. And it is an unfixable problem that will always exist as long as the internet has delay.

Hitreg is not caused by inaccurate Hitboxes but rather caused by delay in your internet connection to the server.

As i said this is impossible to completely fix, but there is a lot of room for improvement in Sea of Thieves.

I have about 4000 hours of pvp in this game and can tell you that its real and does happen occasionally. Hitreg in Sea of Thieves has improved over the years but is still lacking behind other FPS games.

  • @ewokbuilder

Perhaps you just never noticed? I have 2400 hours and I’ve noticed it countless times in pve and pvp.

You telling me you never shot a floating keg as you sailed by and it didn’t blow up? I can’t even count the amount of
    times that’s happened to me.

You said yourself that the majority of your time has been spent on PvE, who pays attention to how many hits it takes to kill a skeleton? Arm sword, swing mindlessly, watch Netflix on the side.

The fact is it happens with all weapons in all scenarios. Your lack of experiencing it or noticing it (more likely) doesn’t change that.

Also, and not that it matters, but didn’t you say you had 300 hours in your original post?

  • Yes, 300 I was confused. I’m probably wrong here. Mod can lock this thread or something atp
