Just started to figure out the fishing voyages,…any advice?

  • Returned after 6 years, topped off my rep with 2 factions to get my pirate legend finally and i see there are a lot more than 3 factions now, I’m really interested in the one that is for hunting and stuff like that. All i can do right now for them is simple fishing missions so i go out, dig up worms, use my default rod/reel catch the fish then turn them in. I see the ad for meg hunting which i assume if i do enough stuff for this faction i will start getting meg hunting missions? Any kind of advice on doing this to make it more fun or more efficient? This faction is great for solo players that want to just relax after a long day.

There are fish voyages, boar voyages and meg voyages when you get higher level.

Besides fish (*) and cooked meat, you can also turn in gems at the Hunter's Call, as well as the reward for the Skeleton Camps (the 6 small islands that now have fortifications); if you find a quest for a Treasury, the Breath of the Sea can be turned in there as well (plus loads of treasure for the other trading companies and some Siren gems that can be turned in anywhere you like) - without such a quest, you can do them but won't get the Breath of the Sea (and thus no specific loot for the Hunter's Call, besides the Siren Gems).
Downside is, for both you'll be away from your ship for a longer time.

Emergent Krakens ( and I believe Megs as well ) can give now Hunter's Call loot, instead of just a piece of kraken flesh and a lousy chest or skull.

Boars can be found on islands without a quest, but they're a pain 😁; the new megaladons ( Feared Redmaw and Barnacled Dread ) which can be found on the map when you're Hunter's Call Emissary grade 5 can also be encountered without Emissary on. They'll have plenty of Hunter's Call loot - bring loads of cannonballs though - beware: they're a handful, especially the Redmaw.

If you got gold to spend, you can always buy some bait and sell it on another outpost 😁 for some reputation.

Fish can also be found in barrels in shipwrecks and the barrels'o'plenty (though there is currently a bug that some are not accessible when in the water, you can get the supplies out of them when you harpoon them).

As soon as you can, buy the emissary flag (level 25 I believe).

I'd also advice to get a Captained ship, so you can turn in at the Sovereigns, as soon as you have the gold for it.

(*) the fish you catch can be cooked - worth more gold & rep that way (don't burn them though).
