This thought recently hit me like a wall so I just have to write it down. What if the endgame had to do with Pirate Legends being able to have more control over the world? I just saw a suggestion to allow us to re-burry our loot. If this was unlockable at Pirate Legend then it gives reason to strive for a cool feature. Pirate Legends could burry loot for other crews and if another crew finds it then they get the chest for regular value, while the Pirate Legend gets say twice the value of the chest instantly, plus its reputation. Imagine having burried a chest and suddenly out in the world you get the notification "Johnson Carl has found your loot!" You get the money and the reputation for it instantly.
I know there's other ways Pirate Legends could make the experience more fun for lower levels but they're just not coming to my head yet. I'm not thinking of anything that allows them to act as dictators, just as cool, respected individuals.
New idea of "endgame"
@johnson-carl I like the concept, but one concern. Do you have any ideas how it could be implemented where it won't be farmedmor abused? :)
RARE is going to be adding a new goal after Pirate Legend, in addition to other cosmetic options for Legend status.
The next goal is Ship Captaincy, and we know for certain that when you achieve Captain status, you get a personal ship that you alone can customize; in other words you don't need to vote on cosmetics with your crew.
Then rumor has it you get your own, personal hideout as well.
@johnson-carl how about armada battle wave where waves of pirate npc ships spawn and you have to sink them all to get the boss to spawn once you sink his ship he drops a quest and a fort key which sends you on a voyage to loot a fort treasure room now that would be better endgame content than a treasure hunt that could and would be completely abused by the player base like people did with the loot cave with destiny was a nice idea though

You already to that with Skeleton Forts. When one activates, you battle hoards of skeletons until you defeat the boss. Then you claim the fortress key and take all of the loot.
All while either allying with or sinking other players that also want a share of the loot.

@blam320 yea be a hell of a lot more chaotic as a sea battle though much more fun
How would you implement it though?
You would need to change it to Skeleton or Ghost ships that materialize on the sea, since you can't really just spawn Pirate ships in the open sea.
You'd also need to tone down how often skeletons fire their cannons, and their aim. Because otherwise once you get to waves of Galleons your going to have to rely on working with other pirates to not get annihilated.
@blam320 you could have it as a random event trigger at a ship wreck and working with other pirates is not a bad thing and then it adds more into the intrigue of are these guys gonna try pull one over on us after this which could end up as another epic battle after the event finishes between allied/non allied ships and the npc ships could have set (distinctive) colour schemes which set them appart from player ships

Why at a Shipwreck? Fortresses trigger at very specific, predictable places in the world, whereas Shipwrecks are randomly generated.

@blam320 and we already have ghost skeletons so why cant they have ghost ships
I believe I said that. Pirate NPC ships would need to be Ghost or Skeleton NPC ships, to fix the issue of ships spawning in the middle of the ocean.
@blam320 well it just kind of makes sense if you use ghost ship as a theme then a shipwreck would seem like a good place to materialize the event
@blam320 for example someone stops to loot a wreck the second a player jumps into the water fog starts rolling which signifies the event started to people above the water after 30 secs or so the ghost ships start rising from the ocean and could have some kind of cloud like the skull fort one appear to signal the even to others
@cmm-solo you could let them bury treasure but I would not let them benefit from it financially it just gives away for people to exploit the feature and people will reminds me of a guy who played eve online called chriba I did not know him he used to fly around in high sec and after mining a ton of stuff would leave it lying around noob areas for the new players to find and loot he gained no benefit from that what so ever and just did it because he was a nice guy and whats been said here should work to the benefit of the new player not the pirate legend player.
@cmm-solo but for things like this the reward is helping someone out people who do things like this don't do them for there own reward they do it to help others adding rewards to this would have people do it simply for there own greed. where the person who does it selflessly from the will of wanting to help people out would do it eitherway
I had an idea kinda like this, only with the ship wrecks. Assuming ship captaincy let's you name your ship, pirate legend ships could show up as ship wrecks to loot.
Maybe even have how rich the pirate is determine what loot is found inside.

Been put on the back burner for now for additional content.

I didn't give a definitive date as to when it was going to be added, did I? I just said it was going to be added at some point in the future.
