i'm exhausted. the ONLY issue i've ever had with this game is the strange behavior with in game mic issues. i've been through it for years, any time i switch OSs or hardware it starts all over again. I've gone through periods were it works fine then, nope. i've helped dozens of people fix their systems (PC) in game and through discord who have similar issues. so it's not just me. keep in mind I play dozens of games online with zero issues with the mic. for some reason the way SoT gets access or sees mic options is just different. had it working in windows 10 w/ a logitech headphone/mic off and on but it wasn't cut and dry. now i'm on a steel series with windows 11 and even though i've changed nothing and had it working for a time now it's not. and for some reason even when i get sound into the headphones, crew text chat comes over speakers, lol. but alas mic still isn't working. even with every other mic devices disabled and windows telling me SoT is using the headphone mic. whatever. i'm done. it was a great game but at this point i'm over it but only because of the mic. the open mic/social aspect of the game was/is 80% of what i enjoy.
also, want to say right now before i get all the generic advice. i'm a 57 year old 35 year experienced IT professional (been playing since Pong and RF Switch boxes) and have read and/or tried whatever you want to send me. i've regained access of web servers taken over by Russian hackers. i'm not unskilled. again, all the other games i've ever played were zero issues or issues i couldn't solve in 10 or so minutes. but i digress....
if anyone knows what the heck the issue is feel free to comment, lol. anyway, love the game. best game in my book even with the mic issues. do people still play WoW or Ultima Online, lol.
