Hello fellow pirates.
I'm in need of help alas, as I'm running out of ideas how to solve this.
So, I can play SOT very nicely for about 30 minutes to 2 hours, and then without any hint towards anything, my entire pc turns off, and restarts directly. By any hint meaning, theres no heavy load due to fire, smoke, mist or anything. Just anything.
This only happens to me when playing Sea of Thieves, and I'm perfectly okay with playing Hearts of Iron 4, Cyberpunk or S-C-U-M for hours without issues.
SOT runs at 120 fps, at highest settings.
The things I have tried:
-reinstall SOT from F - SSD to C- SSD.
-Update GPU drivers
-Check windows updates
-Replace GPU [switched from GF2060 super to GF 4070)
-Thorough cleaning of desktop [ assuming dust or something??]
-Memtest86 --- everything fine.
-CPU and GPU temperatures are ok! Were about 70C with the GF2060, and now about 50-60C with the 4070. CPU is stable by about 60-70C.
-Upgrade from windows 10 to windows 11 [I hate myself for wishing this fixed it]
-Remove all other HD's / USB connections
-Turn off XMP in bios with the GF2060 - but will try that with 4070 as well.
for reference:
CPU: Intel I5 9600 KF
PSU: : 600 Watt Cooler Master
Motherboard: Asus TUF B360M-Plus Gaming
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4-3000
Like, I'd guess if the PSU was failing, I was expecting to see this with other games as well.
wishing you bountiful days.
