Mystery [Mega Thread]

  • @lordiflashheart a secret on tributes peak?

  • @lordiflashheart

    Google lens anyone?

    "fari" inverted for me.

Following up on @L1B3RT1NA GR1MM's suggestion, I plugged "Misfits," "Shady," and "Lost" into what3words.com and got Siegan, Germany...not quite sure what to make of that just yet.

It could be that the 3 words gives a grid that is positioned over a roadway, which you can then use Street View from to look around for another clue.

  • @d3adst1ck
I doubled checked, and when I look at the location in Google Maps, it does not appear to have a Street View. The exact location is also a neighborhood/residential area in Siegen, Germany; I'm not sure Rare would want to hide a clue in a place like that for privacy reasons.

  • @lucky11 I probably should have clarified, but I meant in general. I don't think that a location on a map tells us much but it could be something at that location that we can see virtually through Street View. This would also instantly disqualify any word combinations that put you in fields or other remote areas where there is no street view.

  • @gentleclaw7

so all of those are either a specific place (or faction) or specific person, except for : Parrots, Siren, Megalodon

  • @redbaron1673

Has anyone tried going to port merrick and looking up to where that parrot might be in the twitter picture?

just based off the clue to look up at a parrots perch...

  • @redbaron1673 yeah good point

  • @redbaron1673

I just did. He's sitting on the lighthouse on the far east side of Port Merrick at the top. I didn't see anything that would be of note though.

  • @redbaron1673
Where exactly in Mexico did it take you? It may be the history buff in me, but I have a gut feeling the clue can be found in the location's history.

None of the clues are in game, only the voyages are after you enter the codeword into the website. I think it's to limit the effectiveness of dataminers.

  • @iiimxobnoxious
hmmm. It didn't play any sounds like when you see a captain ship? Based off the last two lines on H's letter...

  • @lucky11

Somewhere in Oaxaca. The third combination of the three words was in France I think... seemed to random to be on the right track.

  • So far what I could understand was
    CANNONBALL
    MISFITS
    WASHED
    CHICKENS

  • @retronukem13 No, it's in the photo. Not in the game.

  • @redbaron1673
One of the combinations I got was also France; a field outside Paris. I'll look and see if I can find anything of note on Oaxaca.

  • @orion-aerospace If you look closely you'll see that the shutters on the right window are already open. So it can't be the shutters.

  • Something I haven't seen brought up yet (but if it has been, my apologies - I've been skimming a bit) is that at two separate times - 7:30 and 11:50 - for only a few seconds each, the scene in the window changes from Tribute Peak. They are both the same scene, but 11:50 gives a much clearer picture.

Screenshot from 11:50 in the "Message from H" video on YouTube

I happened to be on Port Merrick at the time, and I found the exact spot (well, almost exact). It's looking at the ancient coin shop and The Captain's Head Tavern on Port Merrick:

The Captain's Head tavern on Port Merrick, as depicted in the scene above

I'd put money on this being a significant clue toward solving things. It could be the cipher, or it could be related to the words we would put in on what3words. I already tried "captains.head.tavern" and it took me to a place in Africa called "Abalak" - but that wasn't the code, and I don't know where I would go from there with that information.

The parrot appears to be perched atop the lighthouse, on the weathervane. It's clearly overlooking the tavern. I went up to the lighthouse and checked, and the angle is definitely correct, and there's not really anything else of that relative shape that would overlook the tavern like that. However, the picture you linked IS zoomed in on the tavern.

I did, but it's useless. Nothing new there. It's just a spot in the middle of the path : no bird, parrot, message, map or perch. You can just see the name "the capitain's head" on the tavern. That's all.
I also went to sea of shores but nothing very interesting there. Just a wreck (a sloop with a book inside, have always been there) but nothing usefull. I even tried to dig, but found nothing.

  • My bad, I went to the spots that can be seen in the video (Port Merrick and Sea of Shores), not the spot in the Twitter picture.

  • I had an idea just now: has anyone tried inputting "Oaxaca" into a Vigenere Cipher with the keyword "Tavern?"

  • @lucky11 good idea

  • I’m pretty convinced now that we need to disregard the words the actual parrots are saying… and concentrate on the window pictures.

There’s now way they change for no good reason.

Surely it’s figuring that out is the key to put into what three words

  • @lordiflashheart That's not a bad idea. I watched 3 times when the window changed and it sounds like the bird says rock each time. I thought eh why not try it and entered rock rock rock into what3words and it's just in the south of England... which I mean Rare is located in England but the headquarters are nowhere near where it took me. Probably nothing but as far as I can see the word rock is said each time the window changes.

  • @lucky11
declassified Vacwln This is wrong. I tried it

  • @lordiflashheart
Here's the problem I'm running into: the pictures are of Tribute Peak and Port Merrick. I'm struggling to find a connection between the two.

One thing I did think of is that maybe we need to take their coordinates and do something with those? (D-10 and Y-3)

  • Maybe a dice? there is a d10 dice

  • There are two separate (maybe three) videos edited into one.

The long one with only one Macaw, tribute peak and the misfits on the wall.
The shorter one with both Macaws, Port merrick and no photos on the wall.
    Are there more differences?

  • @ja7el

When there is the single macaw, there are a variety of fruit on the table. When both macaws are out, there are only bananas.

  • I think the three words are going to be said by the birds in moments described in the letter —BANANAS, MACAW, BIRDS

so, maybe the next word after multiple bananas are shown on screen, the first word spoken by the red Macaw (or are they both macaws?) And the first word spoken after or when both birds are together on screen?

Then, put those three words into https://what3words.com/ to get a square location , then hit “navigate” or “Google” to get taken to Google maps, then maybe explore a street view from there?

I don’t have time to scour the video super close, but that would be my method if I did

Or, alternatively, maybe moments when all of those things are in view, like someone above suggested

  • @bookz-w-a-z you mean what3words?

  • @triheadedmonkey yes, sorry

  • @bookz-w-a-z edited your post with the correct link :)

  • I do apologize if this was mentioned earlier in this thread, but does anyone find it funny that they showed clips of the two birds together for SPLIT seconds before cutting back to the one? I mean it happens multiple times throughout the stream. Doesn't that seem sort of strange?

  • The code=bananas macaws birds. Led me to the Pacific ocean near north america when I put it into what 3 words.
