Think of this idea as like an in-house discord of sorts. A way to immersively meet your crew before you sail. Discuss what you wanna do before you enlist or just enjoy a drink and start chatting with people.
Basically theres a new room in a tavern you can enter. Perhaps the one the mysterious pirate is guarding...
Going through the door transports you to a seperate server lobby.
Similar to that of Arena lobby except there are quite a few tables and things.
SO HOW DOES IT WORK?
Well dont worry about your ears bleeding from the many many players inside. You cant hear them.
You can only hear people who are sat at your table!
So sit down at a table and then start chatting. Ask what they wanna do, if you are up for doing what they want then throw your dagger into the table like you voted on a voyage or something.
Throwing your dagger down registers you to the crew of anyone else on your table thats done the same. Once thats sorted, vote on the pirate map in the middle of the table to start the session. Once enough votes are cast, everyone who had a dagger in the table will load into a session, with the relief and confidence that they have a good crew.
Every table has a figurine of the ship you would be sailing on. Fancy a sloop? Sit at the cosy and intimate 2 person tables usually at the edge of the tavern. The rest of the tables are 4 person and 3 person, brigantine and gally respectively.
This solution would be quite immersive. I'll explain why...
You could of just cashed in at an outpost with your old crew when they either wanna log off or do something you dont wanna do like a TT or something.
You could part ways and walk through the tavern and find another crew without having to trawl through discord or minimize the game to create or find a post.
Sit and drink and actually find people who are looking to do the same thing as you. Show off your cosmetics and titles to make yourself more appealing.
To be honest im surprised its never been implemented.
