  • @avacadobeard244 They always reappear as Larinna Voyage during Christmas time. You can also try to farm them not only with forts, but killing roaming skeleton captains. They drop a map that has a probability to let you uncover both of the gift types.

  • @blazebeard2313 didn't know that, thanks!

  • Can we turn them in somewhere else too? I leave them in the sand because I don't want to have to cross the map to turn them in!

  • @pithyrumble no, only at reapers. There are also commendations that force you to give the gift to another crew to sell at reaper. It's really hard, because 99 % you have to hijack people to reaper while explaining the commendation, because they don't trust you.
    XD

  • Honestly Gifts need buffing, outside of Christmas the only way to get are rarely from Skeleton Captain Maps from small islands, and its not even a guaranteed chance from Skeleton Forts. There's Commendations to Sell 50 Humble and 50 Generous, and then also give away 30 Humble and 30 Generous to other crews. These commendations are by far one of the most strenuous and annoying grinds in the entire game (no, shrouded ghost is not a grind). Not only do you need to find a minimum 80 of each but then when it comes to giving it away you need to find a player that
= doesn't run away the second you get close when attempting to give it to them
= actually knows what it is and where to sell it to
= thinks its worth the time going out of their way to reapers for like 5 doubloons

Literally the best way I found to get the commendation for giving them away is to antagonise a player, have them chase me, and then let them kill me while fake attempting to sell the Gift at Reapers, where they kill me just before I get the sell so they sell it to spite me.

There's also a large amount of people that intentionally wont sell gifts just to spite another player, even if the player did nothing wrong, as they don't want to help that player with their commendation. I've even seen Reaper 5s do this where they specifically leave someone's gift behind even though they're gonna sell at Reapers.

You also have the issue of it not counting to give it away if you're not currently on the server when they sell it, this means that you either have to force them to immediately go and sell it, or wait for them to finish whatever they are doing, and then go sell it, which is incredibly boring. You could also get server merged into a separate server from them and boom you just lost your commendation.

Likewise the Christmas Voyages of recent haven't even been that efficient at getting gifts, I remember the first Christmas Voyages i did had you travel to a Fort and it gave you guaranteed gifts, and a bunch of them.

    • Make Gifts sellable to outposts, this will mean that players are more likely to actually care about selling someone's gift, as they don't have to go out of their way and can simply sell it when selling their loot.

    • Buff the value of gifts by making it a gold sum such as 3k and 6k respectively. The best trade value currently is 50 doubloons for 10k (5 doubloons for 1k) meaning current gifts are worth 1k and 2k respectively, but you also need to have 50 doubloons in general to get the trade, you cant just convert it directly, as such a larger gold sum would be better for all players.

    • Make them more common such as Guaranteed from Every world event; Skeleton Forts, Ashen Lords, Forts of Fortune (Which should have 3, at least 1 guaranteed Generous), and Skeleton Fleets (make the final boss drop it).

  • What about custom treasure maps?!?!?

When you bury some gifts, put a map up of them and people can dig them up and sell them and it will credit you.

This way the gifts are essentially in circulation forever until someone leaves them floating in the sea.

Just an idea, but I think there's a lot of commendations with some grindy requirements (Bone Haul, Treasured Tears and all the crates). But the community won't let us fix them so I guess we need to improvise.

So make gifts hidden in treasure maps count as gifted.
