SLI/Crossfire Support

  • Nowadays even AAA titles don't bother with SLI/Crossfire, is Sea of Thieves going to be supporting these technologies?

  • @vitaefinis oh yes please! _

  • I know & understand the reasons, however, I'd still like to know if it'll be implemented since I have ROG Strix 1080TI OC in SLI and an ultrawide 4k monitor :D (I actually use the cards for crypto currency mining when I'm not gaming so I didn't buy the 2nd card solely for gaming but it'd be nice to utilize what I have to the fullest.)

Additionnally, I'd be also curious to know if VR headsets such as Oculus and HTC Vive would be eventually supported. I'd love to enjoy the scenery in VR :)

  • I want to necro this before making a new thread over the same topic. The question wasn't really answered, it was speculative at best. Anyone know anything more definitive?

  • From a QnA

We’re not taking advantage of them yet. When we went to our community and asked what features were important, multi-GPUs were like 0.001% of our community. So, what we did say to them is, ‘look, your experience won’t be worse’, because that’s important - there are games that stutter. We have a multi-GPU setup on-site, so we at least know it works. Every week we send builds to Nvidia, AMD, and Intel for playtesting as well. But, over time, if we bring in more players with multi-GPUs, we can absolutely revisit it.

  • Don’t want to creat a new thread as well so might as well necro.
    Please Rare, add multi-gpu support!

Gears 4 and Halo Wars 2 both had excellent multi-gpu performances. Hopefully SoT add it soon.

  • So apparently our performance isn't supposed to be worse with Crossfire. Currently I'm getting terrible stuttering and lower fps (about half) running 2 RX 570's in tandem yet running only one of the two cards removes all issues. I don't mind exactly, I can get a solid 75 fps even in the most taxing areas with fairly high settings. My issue is I can't add Sea of Thieves as a profile in "Radeon Settings", and without that I can't tell it to automatically launch with Crossfire disabled. Does anyone know a way to accomplish this? I've found the "SoTGame.exe" file, but I can't seem to get permissions to add it to Radeon Settings, even after giving all users "Full Access" to the file and running Radeon Settings in Administrator Mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please and thank-you in advance.

  • I would like to see this implemented, I have two 290X's and while one is being fully utilized and I'm getting 50-70 FPS on Mythical settings at 2560x1440, it would be nice to see the other card get use so I could be getting into the 100 FPS territory.

I know this may not seem like some priority but there are still a lot of people in the PC community with Crossfire/SLI setups who play your game. This is a new game and I know stuff like this takes time but implementing things like this is a show of good will to try to support the community and the hardware they possess.

Much like y'all implemented a 540p option for low end systems, it would be nice to see support going in the other direction for us who have dual GPU's.

  • another vote for sli. Running 2 x 1080ti. How else can we expect to get 60+ fps on max settings @ 4k. :)

  • i have 2 x 1080 GTX and i wait for a Nvidia Sli Profile , i hope is cooming. i will play in 4k with Mystical . i get 30 -45 fps . maybe a good Nvidia Profile Insepector ?

  • 30-45 fps with 1080 GTX ? i have a 1070 GTX MSI Gaming X , and i have 49-60 fps :/ , full mystical in a 4K

  • Hey guys, i have a setup with 2x 980 TI SLISo i would love to see support for this :)

  • Agreed, I also have 980TI SLI setup and I would love to utilize both cards. Currently getting a few drops below 60fps at mythical @ 3440x1440 and vsync with just one card, I'm going to try setting card 2 as the anti-aliasing card and hopefully can at least get smooth 60fps lock. SLI would no doubt get me into 100+ fps territory.

    PLEASE RARE!!

  • @elderjabarrow same here! please add sli so I can get all this game visually has to offer!

  • Come on rare.......the game is awesome so please give us sli support to maximise our experience as we have spent the money Buildings the rigs to do just that.......Help!!!

  • Yes please! Cannot run the game properly without crossfire :p

  • Dual Vega 56 here, would love to see mGPU added to this game. Currently I can't seem to find a way to add the Sea of Thieves crossfire profile, since this game doesn't have an EXE to browse to.

  • Can any of you sli guys tell me what the point of going over 60 fps is, and wether you actually see a difference between 1080p and 4k?

  • +1
    2x GTX 1070.
Must be multi GPU at launch. I want max setting, on 1440p and 144hz
Look at Rise of the Tomb Raider i have 99% utillization on both cards all the time and 130fps on directx 12. The best game. Because looks good and have good optimisation.

  • @nebenkuh ....

  • I'd like SLI

Is that a serious question? And trust me, it doesnt take sli to make that happen. My 1080 does great with it! Gotta love that evga classified! :)

  • @zalavaaris
    Yep, serious question. :)
I got a bunch of 1080s and 1080ti lying around, just never felt the need to get a 4k screen. Looking at comparisons between 4k and 1080p and also testing different texture resolutions in UE (albeit on a 1080p screen) wasn't really that big of an improvement. I never looked at a game and thought 'man this should be a higher res'. So I was curious to hear from someone who is actually into 4k, to hear if it's a big deal and I'm missing out. :)

It's much more crisp. It can be a challenge with a game with lots of ui features because they can scale down in size due to the pixel count but with a game like sea of thieves its gorgeous! But if I'm 100% honest, I dont prefer a 4k screen. I prefer a 3440x1440 screen with 100+fps with gsync. Now that is amazing!

  • @zalavaaris
    Thanks :)
Is there a noticable difference between 60 and 100 fps?
I definetely notice 30 vs 60, but I always thought 60+ would be unnoticable.

Visually you aren't going to look at it and say "wow it's so much nicer looking!". However, it feels much smoother to play. When you add a monitor with gsync to 100+ fps it is VERY hard to go back to 60.

If you have the funds and want a gaming experience you cant ever leave, look at the Acer predator x34. My decision to buy a game now requires 21:9 support it's that good lol

  • @zalavaaris
Sounds useful for close quarter battles too. Thanks, I'll look up some monitors :)

  • Honestly I don't understand why Sea of Thieves doesn't support DX12 or Vulkan 1.1, both those low level API's support the use of mGPU so you don't even need to have an SLI or Crossfire profile, the GPU's can just communicate between PCI-E like a single device.

It seems backwards thinking for a title backed by Microsoft to lack DX12 support.
