To the people who complain about getting "griefed" or robbed

  • Its a PVP shared world game what you expect? Pirates werent all sunshine and rainbows. Did you think they magically got their loot given to them? NO , they took riches from other people who have it. game is called SEA OF THIEVES for gods sake.
    T H I E V E S
    noun, plural thieves.
    1.
a person who steals, especially secretly or without open force; one guilty of theft or larceny.

    P I R A T E

    1. a person who robs or commits illegal violence at sea or on the shores of the sea.

Like for real , AC: Black Flag might be the game for you if this pvp style aint your cup of tea.

  • Love these types of posts.
"Its a game based on pirates they weren't nice! Why should you enjoy yourself?"

"This is a survival game so you have to drink water every few hours"

"This is a war game! Why are there people duck diving all over?!"

They need to cater to a broader audience. Adding in solo/friends only servers doesn't take away from you in the least. So there should be no reason for them not too.

  • There needs to be a distinguished code in the tavern regarding the definition of "griefing". Is waiting at an outpost a tactic to smuggle loot? Yes. As that's what a pirate would do. I wouldn't consider taking advantage of Ingame mechanics griefing, as these people are partaking in PVP in islands.

However, the definition of griefing that should be frowned upon is throwing crew chests off the ship intentionally. Brigging crew mates as soon as they join for no apparent reason. Finally, being AFK while having the mouse/controller do slight adjustments.

  • @warri0r-man
Well if they ever did implent this wich i hope they wont , they should make it so you couldnt carry gold and everything else with you to the rest of the big boys ;)

  • @gods-el-kimac

    Basically
"Their enjoyment isn't worth as much as mine"

  • @crusader-zorro Yeah messing up your own crew is what I also see as griefing.

I see a lot of people complaining about getting hunted when the hunt is clearly a big part of the game. It was like this on closed beta, scale test and final beta , so I dont get why they all cry about being attacked. Ive been robbed and took it with a smile and laughed. With the right skills you can use one man sloop and take out galleon :D

  • @gods-el-kimac No no no, some people it's that, others, it's a random joined my crew, said nothing and stole my ship taking it out of bounds with all loot aboard and destroyed it all so no one could have it after I offered to share. OR the time someone joined to take all my items and swim to a mermaid, doing this and harassing me for 2 hours, spamming "Eat lead!" and taking things, clapping at me if I try to talk to them, and making sure I can't sail. And they themself jumping off the boat with my treasure and destroying it via mermaid. And this was because my friend left, planning to come back, and I had treasure aboard. Then this person comes in, and I have no way to get rid of them.

  • @warri0r-man Its game mechanics, if some people dont like beeing killed or robbed maybe they should get better and be the robbers and kill them self. People crying about it wouldnt cry if they were on the other side of the table

  • @warri0r-man Man, thats not what he is sayin. He is saying that if u wanna make gold in your "safe space" free of the real danger in the game, it shouldnt carry over into the real part of the game where you DO have to fight sometimes to earn your gold.

  • The argument that people should "get good" is old and has no place in this.
If people want to play a game differently than you why shouldn't they be able too?
Once again it has no effect on you what so ever.

If some guy who doesn't have any friends who play this game and just wants to sail around and enjoy himself without being g********d by a group of 4 out to just troll people why shouldn't he be able to?

  • @shadow-swift12 yeah I dont get why people do that, has happened to me too. that is the true meaning of griefing

  • The difference is that people playing this

    1. are not real pirates and
    2. are playing for enjoyment

There are much easier ways to obtain riches by taking on your own voyages rather than ruining others times. Let people have an option to agree to have ship battles or duels rather getting jumped and losing everything. Not everyone can be as skilled of a player as the next person, so their odds of surviving a bout with another player might be unlikely.
I guess what I'm saying is that everyone deserves to enjoy their fair share of the game that they spent real money on, and leaving it up to people from the internet (ie other players) wont have a good outcome.

  • @gods-el-kimac We've just gotta make sure the devs hear about that. I have no problem being attacked, as you're earning my loot by beating me off of you with a stick as I attempt to burn your ship. PvP is eat or be eaten. But matchmaking shouldn't be. Thanks for being willing to understand as so many others just say "Shouldn't be in a matchmake!" When matchmake shouldn't come with the risk of being robbed!

  • @warri0r-man If you're solo slooping, theres really no excuse for being caught by a 4 man boat.

  • @pockoclock Part of the experience is planning to run from other pirates. I enjoy the idea of needing to look out for others and have a bargaining chip to use. Sure you could take this out but no one wants to lose all their loot. It just happens. I just think maybe not 100% of your loot should be stealable, just 50% of it, it's on your skill in combat, if you lose, usually it's fair and square. Last night, we had a 4 man crew attack our 2 man sloop loaded with loot, and I outsailed and my partner outshot them, we landed 3 shots and I made them bash into an island and sink. It's all about planning. We got to watch them get gobbled by sharks :)

  • Lol this is hilarious people actually complain about this haha.

  • People complaining about one measly chest being robbed when me and my friend almost got all our stronghold loot robbed. They took everything apart from some tea/spices and some cups. We chased them in our sloop from one side of the map to the other.
That's right, a galleon robbed a sloop and fled like cowards.

They circled the outpost as their crew jumped off cashing stuff in. Wouldn't even dock.

  • @gonkgonk Yea pretty much. Ill never understand why people think the game should be tailored just for them. I dislike parts of the game, i downright hate a small number of things in the game, but i dont make posts demanding for them to be changed, i account for it when planning fights/escapes/voyages/, and move on

  • @gods-el-kimac i would consider it griefing if the ships come back no matter how many times you sink them. I and a friend sank 2 galleons and one sloop at least 15 times and they just came back 5 minutes later. we have never lost a fort, but it is still annoying to deal with the same ships over and over again for 3+ hours. you should be moved to another server if you sink 2-3 times during an hour.

  • @nightraven12345 This sub is a clown fiesta haha, it's like talking to brick walls if they ain't right no one is right.

  • @gonkgonk Its even better when u recognize one of the gamertags complaining or recognize them from their storys from when u sunk their battleship ;)

  • I don't really care for getting robbed or being attacked that's what this games about we've all done it in game with our crew or being solo thats what makes this game fun as hell L***O! What I hate is when your already beaten the person 2 or 3 times and they keep coming back for more and more. Then you keep eventually killing them over and over again it gets annoying like seriously 😐 it makes me think this world is some what big and were literally only running in to you like w*f that's what they need to fix

  • @keepitlowkee THATS the one problem i have with the current pvp system. it's not a huge complaint, but seriously? I Sunk you 3 times already fool, BEGONE

    Pls and thank

  • @gonkgonk At least make an arguement like others have, you can't just go around bashing people. They're saying why they think we need to remove PvP and you're giving a pretty good example of "The people who do it are jerks".

Whoa. I sunk a guy who did exactly that. I didn't crew up with him, just ran into him on the seas. He was waving and randomly said "Eat lead". Turned around and sunk him quick. I wonder if this was the same guy.

  • @keepitlowkee True but it's a tough fix. Their missions are localized to that area so it can't spawn them too far away, but they want to rob you and they know where you are. All I can think is making their ship weaker to you to discourage it, or making a full ship respawn due to PvP put you into a new server.

I don't have to give a reason, it's a game about pirates where the focus is to kill others and steal there loot, shall I continue?

  • @cpt-rikari Could have been, can't mention names as it can start witch hunts but people who do this are jerks. I'd like to see it fixed. For now we just have to report them on xbox for actual greifing and make sure the devs hear, because as it is they just keep doing it and making video's of people getting upset that you just ruined 2 hours of their time. The guy found my Twitter and harassed me there as well.

  • @gonkgonk Tell it to them. If you read my posts I think the same thing, I just don't like seeing all these things calling people out for being idiots just because they advocate a different idea than you.

Alright I agree with you, I know it was wrong for me to diss others for playing the game the way they like too, it's kind of me being a hypocrite because I'm advocating that in my other thread my apologies.

  • @gonkgonk You sir, made my day. Most people will go blue in the face insulting me before they'll accept they were rude. Good luck in your quests, and best of luck in the battles of the Sea!
