  • Tell me how you fair, I don't even know how to purchase the game, let alone download it. I don't want to fork over 60$ to find out that I bought a console version of the game when I want the PC version.

  • @cowboymancer i think i bought the right one but ..the microsoft store is a mess

  • I also had issues like this. I was able to play by opening the Microsoft Store App (Windows 10 PC). Hit your Windows key and type Store and it should come up as an option. Once that app is open select "Games" and scroll to Sea of Thieves. There will an option to play if you downloaded it.

  • @cowboymancer I had the very same concern. It is not at all apparent which version you are buying. I looked at the url in the browser and it read "gamesforwindows" so I took a chance and purchased it. Even the receipt sent by email did not indicate if it was PC or Xbox. Super annoying.
Anyway, open the Store app after you purchase it and you can download it from there. Launching the game is via the app as well. Hope this helps!

  • @talcire
    Oooh, ok. Thanks m80!

  • @talcire its downloading now! thank you so much for the help guys!

  • @talcire This is not working for me. The store keeps asking me to buy it when I bought it already.

  • @jushoru Make sure you are signed in? I noticed I had to sign in here and there. The whole process was frustrating. I had uninstalled the store app and had to figure out how to get it back. Good luck!

  • mine wont launch. it loads up and closes instantly
    HELP ME!!!

  • I am also confused on how to purchase the windows version, the store only shows the xbox tags everywhere on the purchase window. What am I missing? Would like to purchase it but not the console version by mistake.

  • I have been at this for two hours. Trying to download to PC. Everything routes me back to the store, which says play on PC, when clicked it opens a blank Windows store page. Is there a separate Windows store app that needs to be downloaded because I am logged in and cannot successfully follow the instructions listed above. Any additional succinct guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.

  • @blacjacshellac
hope this will be fixed by the end of the day..

I have not even got that far wish I could help, but I can't even see the windows version, the version I see has Xbox everywhere.

  • It doesn't matter whether you buy the digital copy of the PC or Xbox One version. The Digital Copy is "Play Anywhere", thus you can play and download it on Windows 10 PC and/or Xbox One. "Play Anywhere" is the copy for all devices.
Sometimes it just takes a while for it to work since the Windows 10 Microsoft store app still is a bit buggy at times.

You might have to restart Windows or run Windows update/Store Update it in case the OS/Store app needs to be updated for the game to work.

Cheers! Did not know that. Thank you :D

  • @politeohio81 Can you please explain exactly what you did to get this to work?

  • I have an issue: If i open the game and press the button i get this: "Please Log in Xbox Live to run Sea Of Thiefes" I dont know what happened pls help me!

  • @talcire My PC sign in and Xbox sign in were different emails. It works now.

  • I purchased it from Microsoft store, with no more difficulty than buying a game off steam, buy it, download it, install it, play it.

  • @l-xenosz-l
Just to clarify: you are trying to start the game on PC?
If so, are you logged in at the XBox Live App before you start the game? Maybe this can be an issue if the game doesn't manage to login on its own.

  • I've just added some credit to Microsoft account through a gift card, activated xbox game pass through the store and just hit download for sea of thieves. 55% right now

  • @l-xenosz-l Open your Xbox app at first and create your Xbox gamertag if you haven't done it previously

  • The main problem that people have with this, is that they think there is some pc version of the game. The isn't. There's just an xbox version of the game and Windows 10 allows to act your PC as Xbox. That's why everything must be managed through the Xbox app

  • @sirliborius Hey, thanks for reply, yes i puchased from Microsoft Store, and this Xbox Liva app in store or where can i found it?

  • @l-xenosz-l It should have been pre-installed on your Windows 10 as basic part of it. If you don't have it though, then try searching the Store. It's called just Xbox

  • @winsterz Thanks for the help, i will do everything.

I would call the games PC Version, but they use the login-system over a sepearate XBox-App, which can be confusing. It would work better if the account from the App Store was used automatically, i think.
For me it's a good system, so i can join partychat with my freidns who only use the XBox. But it's not the most intuitive systems to use.

  • @sirliborius I would not call it PC version as both PC and Xbox are downloading the same app from the same store. That's what they envisioned with their UWP apps.

  • @sirliborius On the intuitivness I agree. We had so much problems with the Xbox app alone during the betas. I at least hope that this game will generate enough feedback for MS to start doing something with that.

  • @winsterz
I didn't look at SoT on PC yet, but on other Play Anywhere titles i would define it as different Apps as there are clear differences in the options (graphics, controls etc.).
In several cases (like SoT beta) the installaton sizes are quite different depending on the system.
But i guess this is really a question of how to define a different version and a different program...

  • @blacjacshellac In Microsoft Store, did you go to Mylibrary?

  • @winsterz Hey, again me, so i dont know what is the problem but i have again and again Ashbeard the xbox live problem,

  • I think they are wrong because the people who helped to test the betas are not even the game they gave them and now it is only for payment and that one I help and all the others equal I think that they would have to give the game to the people that was in the betas and helping with the bugs because thanks to all of you they repaired

  • here do not think about the people who helped in the betas that thanks to them repaired the game many times nor the game gave them that inconsiderate
