@experementor: there has to be something, just don‘t get it. Let us know if you would find something ;-)
The Mystery Begins!
None of the coin arrows seem to converge on a spot, whether isolating for the skull or bones side or not. My working theory is that the coins simply point near or past islands that have caged prisoners, and with the coins spelling PRISONER, we were meant to use this to find the spyglass.
None of the coins indicate where to use the spyglass though, so I think we are waiting on another clue. I thought maybe there was something at Sunken Grove, due to the wording in the message that said "I know where the lies are buried, this message should find you there." and this tweet from Mike Chapman a few days before the coins appeared: https://twitter.com/ChappersChapman/status/1563948593366581249
It's possible that tweet was just referring to the coins, or the skull message, as I haven't been able to get the spyglass to line up at Sunken Grove in any significant way that wouldn't also get accidentally triggered by a Gold Hoarder Riddle (as I believe it would have to be in a spot that won't be found by accident).
@icytid3s Probably not today but I will do that. Still, while I will do my best to get as accurate a reading as I can, I doubt that's what Rare expects us to do - doesn't sit right with me. I feel if they are pointing at something, it would be something nearby. Instead it could possibly be a code with their indicated directions compiled in the sequence of the word "Prisoner" (keeping in mind there are two R's so there are 2 possible combinations). Maybe there's something to do with the amount of coins flipped either way in each pile? At this point I'm just trying to cover all aspects distinct about the piles. What else is there about them?
I imagine, the cave on Sunken grove has been fully excavated already but if not - could be an avenue of exploration.Has anyone tried going to Discovery Ridge and Plunder Valley and using the spyglass exactly like we used the trapmaker's one but this time look for marks that don't double up for both eyesockets?
@D3ADST1CK I don't know if every single landmark is used for that purpose. Also, it might only trigger if you have the spyglass on you - might be one of the reasons why it get swapped back to your regular one whenever you die or quit the game - so it's only discovered deliberately, as you have to deliberately equip it every time. so yeah I'd say equip the spyglass and dig all around the landmarks. Especially if it's not used in the riddles and also especially if it has a skull of some sort. Rarethief's map should be helpful with that. Also, from the top of my head I dont remember if there are any paintings there, but if there are - they're not used in the hoarders' quests. In fact I don't think I've realized how little that island has been used for - apart from Wanda's journal there's nothing there - no beacons, no thrones etc...
@D3ADST1CK There is also this from a few days before the spyglass showed up at all - the new skull in the pile and the smashed music box..?

Found on Sunken Grove (the clue was in the vision where they jump down into a pool)

A new skull has also been found close to the music box... Credit to Fargodeep#6989 again for this:
If you compare it to this old pic of Wanda's Journal on Sunken Grove, from Rare Thief, you can see the skull is definitely new.

Another clue spotted by Soren from Ancient Isles University...
Wanda's journal has a new, very intriguing line added...
[He is trapped. Find him...]
Wanda's journal became an item of interest after one of them was spotted in the promo image for Gold Hunters at Gamescom
@experementor The music box and skull pile came before the voice message clue which lead us to the spyglass.
I think today's Sunday Vibes tweet focused on Crooked Masts and the cage in which we found the spyglass only confirms that we have to wait for the next clue for where to use the spyglass.
@d3adst1ck huh! Correct you are! Though the pointer towards the masts seems redundant seing as we found the spyglass as fast as we did, it does make perfect sense - they probably have this planned out in advance and didn't anticipate the people to find it so fast. So, waiting for another week then, I guess? Still, what the hell are those arrows for? at least I'd say Prisoner is 99% meant to work with this tweet.
Anyone else curious why there is so little in game Lore surrounding Captain Briggsy’s claims that there is a cure for Grawmarrows skeleton curse? And it almost seems insinuated that it lies inside the shroud or at tribute peak as it is her motive to break apart the shroudbreaker until she needs it next. She was planning on using it and seemed rather confident that she could restore her humanity (before we beat the dust out of her). This string of dialogue alone has set me on a path to sympathize and understand each “villain”. I love the characters of Briggsy and Rathbone and to see The gold hoarder get a second day in the sun (albeit as a stick) I would love to see Briggsy come back into the cycle of the lore like all of the original crews of the sea of thieves. All of whom have had numerous appearances in the game and the written lore. Briggsy on the other hand is one of those infamous pirates and yet she gets killed off in the second tall tale. If we ever do see the cursed rogue again I would love the opportunity to complete the cosmetic set as her Sarl adventure recipient jacket is the most beautiful thing to behold and makes me sad that nothing close to it is remotely available. And one last tangent unrelated to my lore questions; but why is Briggsy one of the only skeleton lords to use a sword? Grawmarrow has the coolest most massive cleaver in the tall tales and never uses it once. I would like to see the bosses take on a true raid boss feeling over a right, click RT bonanza. Briggsy being one of the funnest bosses and also the weakest by a longshot. Just here manifesting some more content for these great characters that haven’t had a chance to be elaborated upon in game.
I made an earlier post and not sure if it had actually posted but I think the way the skull in the spyglass is shaped corresponds to a point of view. I found the the bottom left of the skull almost perfectly outlines the shape of the leftside of the cliff on mermaid hideaway. The nose almost perfectly aligns with the nearest triangle portal and the bottom left teeth almost look like they align with some sort of sea post. I only checked the mermaid hideaway area of the map but I feel like the way the skull is shaped is particular to a horizontal view. Maybe there's a spot on the map where the entire skull and nose perfectly align?
Okay I think I found out what's going on. In the video the voice mentioned that she knows where the lies were buried. I think she meant all the visions we saw, and that's where we had to go to find and follow those coins. After that we found her spyglass, so all we gotta do now is wait for the next step, which is waiting on Lesedi to switch some skulls.

We tried using Lesedi's spyglass in place of the Trickster's spyglass on Discovery Ridge, at the above suggestion. They seem to have the same dimensions– using Lesedi's just digs up the Trickster's buried treasure.
You are getting closer and closer to its intended use, keep looking for similar spots on other islands.
@th3xr34p3r well, the trickster's requires 2 components - where to aim and what to look at. Many islands have plenty to look at but we don't have anything like the trickster's markings anywhere. Also, as already been pointed out, you're running the risk of coming across it by accident when doing a hold hoarder riddle quest.
That being said, there are 2 ways I think they could prevent that:- The Lesedi spyglass has to manually be equipped every time you spawn. As such, I think you need to actually have the lesedi's spyglass to be able to dig up whatever is buried.
- I wonder if it's simply on an island that a riddle never points to - after all, you can always use anything as a marker. Maybe that could eliminate some of the islands. Unless, it just points to a part of the island with a landmark that the gold hoarders didn't use.
@experementor What's the concern about a Gold Hoarder riddle? Why does that get an island ruled out?
I'm not sure what @TH3xR34P3R is hinting at exactly, but the Trickster puzzle works on both Discovery Ridge and Plunder Valley. We're thinking to try there next– Discovery Ridge just happened to be what the Tall Tale chose when we tried this time. I'm also wondering if we need to do this without the Tale active...
@cybercowb0y well, a spyglass points to a spot very near a landmark. A Fold Hoarders riddle also points next to a spot near a landmark. The concern is that someone going after the riddle, will discover whatever is buried for the mystery by accident.
And it doesn't really get ruled out. There's a good chance that it's done just through "must have lesedi's spyglass equipped" approach.
Though I am sure that you must in fact have it equipped to discover the buried stuff.@d3adst1ck I'm leaning towards option 1 and leaning against option 3 - doesn't seem in the spirit of the mystery. The whole point is that it's an unmarked quest. My guess for the requirement is still just having the spyglass actively equipped.
@experementor #3 is definitely mystery appropriate. It wouldn't be the first time we've been gated because the content required to progress is not activated.
It would also make it possible to place on any island and not have to worry about it being triggered accidentally.
@personalc0ffee If there even is one, I wouldn't see them adding a time gate this long without giving us something to chew on until the next hint

First time for everything.
@d3adst1ck "not activated yet" would be option 2. Option 3 was "special voyage" which doesn't feel right
@experementor I don't see why. Every adventure is run through special voyages that trigger the next part.
It'd be incredibly easy to have players pick up a note from somewhere, with a clue, and enables digging at a location. It would make it impossible to hit by accident unless you had the voyage active.
@toastysmooth100 unless a clue is hidden in the reveal trailer for the adventure or it's intertwined with the siren's prize adventure ( like a clue behind that new mural in coral tomb if that's what we're doing) I am also kinda wondering why we went without a clue for this long but I definitely think we solved the spyglass way too quick.
@larrychupacabra is it possible we miggut need the gold horder skull and the FOTD?maybe ashen winds skull
Has anyone ever noticed that some seats throughout the game prompt a needle drop? as in music starts playing? Specifically, the wheelbarrow you can sit on on sunken grove. Has anyone come across something like that on other islands? can someone confirm it's new or confirm it's not?
EDIT: Scratch that. All outdoors seating spots seem to have this. As in where you're sitting on parts of the environment
@faceyourdemon Why don't you try to help out too instead of telling us to hurry up? You can find out what happened too if you get the spyglass. Hop to it ya salty dog!
Rare have released another summary video to catch folk up with the Mystery so far....
