New Boss: The Ancient Statue

  • So imagine if there was a tall tale that had you chase after a Ancient Shaman phantom who is hiding in a ancient ruin and would require you to solve puzzles and challenges in order to reach this powerful fellow. After completing these trials you enter a room where you find the Shaman phantom and one of those Statues that sit on the thrones at the Shores of Gold. The Shaman then preforms a ritual which fuses him to the statue. This causes the statue to become sentient and aggressive. You now have to fight the statue by hitting one of its weak points that shine for a period of 30 seconds. Now since hitting it with a sword or guns would do barely any damage (especially in the case of the sword) you'd have to bait the statue to certain corners that have cannons you can use to hit him. Destroying the statue finishes the tall tale and e.t.c.

    Now if Rare would want to go the harder route, they could make the statue be a encounter like a kraken, where it rises from beneath the waves and tries to destroy your ship via punching, kicking, slaping, and a shout that causes a shockwave and knocks you off the boat if you aren't careful. Same mechanics like the tall tale idea, hitting flashing weak points with the cannons e.t.c. e.t.c. Defeating the statue would drop Gold Hoarder loot and a unique treasure like a statue core that would sell for a good amount of gold.

    What do you guys think? It's a very rough idea but i think it add some much need variety to the usual boss fights as it isn't just another bullet sponge and would require some knowledge in order to beat it.

  • In addition to this new encounter being added, there could also be several commendations and rewards (in the Tall Tale, random encounter, or both). These commendations would give more of the set that the Ancient Spyglass is apart of, expanding more on this very incomplete set.
