Hey guys, I am here to see if anyone else is experiencing cheaters/hackers on the seas. Lately we’ve noticed an increase in what appears to be hacking in game. We’ve been playing SOT since the beginning and know when someone is good at the game, compared to someone who has a clear advantage. It seems we have been running into people with what appears to be aim bot, speed hacks, wall hacks, etc. I have seen some discussion on the pvp forms about cheaters but not much about in adventure. However one quick google search will bring up many ways you can hack the game. This is concerning due to the availability and we want to bring attention to it. Now if Rare has addressed this issue please let me know, but I haven't found anything. Our goal is to try to bring attention to the matter, and see if anyone else is experiencing this?

Cheats are available for pretty much any game especially a couple of year old ones, if you actively try and find it then you will stumble across them. They might not even work or will result in quick bans, the effectiveness and duration that they can be used are never guaranteed. Take the risk and suffer the consequences.
I have been playing since day one and extremely rarely come across any activity that is solely explained by hacks. Enough situations are of being outplayed or hit registration issues, you might feel cheated out of a situation and yet rarely it is actually due to cheats. The issue is nowhere near widespread and problematic.
If you suspect an individual of cheating, simply make a recording and proceed to report them to the developers.
Not once have I encounter a player who I absolutely thought was cheating. I honestly think it's a small potion of players and the rest can be chalked up to other circumstances such as latency, or just not seeing the full picture of what tactics the other crew are using.
If you do suspect something. Record it and send it to Rare by raising a support ticket on this website. The reason you don't see it being talked about is because there's no need to. Just raise a ticket, move on, and let Rare investigate for themselves.
There was a time in the games second year where there was a huge spike in sea of thieves cheating where people were teleporting and using invincibility but since then i have only seen 1 instance where i truely think i saw a hacker.
As someone who average at the game i am very skeptical about the legitimacy of hacker reports considering how often i see myself and others being called hackers.
I'm sure it happens still but to Rares credit they clearly did something that drastically cut back on the amount of people hacking.
ESP/wall hacks can also be someone using a good stereo headset with certain audio settings. There is a reason many good tuckers choose to go boot-less in this game. Also there are many other audio cues to let you know what is going on. Once I made the transition from monitor speakers to a headset, I never turned back for first person games like these.
doesn't really matter as all of the glitches and server issues give them perfect cover most of the time even if they are.
I don't get too deep into worrying about it because smart strategy and a sink 4 times sail 5 times mentality makes you victorious in a game like this even if more people are cheating. The worst a cheater can do is sink me from time to time and take some loot and anyone or anything can do that to me from time to time. so whoopty doo
Being as experienced as I am out there do I think I've seen more cases of stuff like auto aim or esp? probably but can I prove it? nah so I don't accuse it against individuals
I will say that the amount of people currently (that I know for a fact) are using dpi glitching is ridiculously high in random combat in adventure from what I've seen so do I think people that are intentionally engaging in stuff like that would also cross the lines in other ways to win? I think it's quite possible
Yes we are aware of our surroundings. We all use a very nice setups. I do stream and record gameplay, I will send it to rare to see if anything will be done. We are saying it’s not hard to find hacks for the game it’s as simple as googling cheats in sea of thieves and 30 websites come up to get cheats from. I also linked YouTube videos of people advertising hacks in game from June 8th of 2021. I know we are in a time where many games have become compromised by hackers. We aren’t out here saying every person is hacking let alone every adventure we go on there is someone we suspect of cheating. We are just trying to put something out there because it doesn’t seem anyone brings it up, but a ton of people in game say I think so and so is cheating. Also to those saying they have never experienced it or seen it maybe once, what are your adventures like? Tall tales, Fort of the damn, hunting megs or pvp? Those who engage into pvp more will see more in my opinion.
Warzone has tons of cheaters, for example. I just saw hackers in Sea of Thieves tonight. I have 100's of hours in this game but I definitely came across cheaters tonight in game. It was not a factor of not being situationally aware or anything like that, I know what I saw and I reported them. That said, its going to happen. Its a popular game.
Here's how I see it. Most everyone you think is cheating isn't so don't accuse. If you have video proof on hand then let RARE assess the evidence. If not then play on. I can hit a mast shot and spam x to catch the ladder about 50% of the time which is a good and surprising board. I know others that are wonderfully accurate shots and some that are incredible with swords. Know that there are many individuals who are better than you but are their crews better? You can evade a cheater. You can outsmart most cheaters especially if their game is aim assist or trigger assist. I think the cheaters in this game make up maybe 1/10 of 1%. Work around them and RARE will catch them.
@storm9504 Rare take those using cheats and hacks very seriously, but if you suspect someone, please don’t post it here but send any clips, gamertags etc to Support who will deal with it accordingly.
