Leveling for NON-PVP also delayed slow health regen?

  • So I've been having this thought for a while, how would people feel if you slowly leveled up?
Let me explain, lets say you use the sword against skeletons or sharks what if eventually you got a notification that you've killed "X amount" of "insert creature" with your sword and from now on will do an extra "X amount" of damage to said creature with it.
Same with defense, if you die so many times (non pvp) you would slowly get a defensive stat boost. (I've been one shot by lightning a lot and slowly building up a tolerance to it would be nice)
You would also have the option to turn these settings off if you would like a "challenge" so maybe by the end your defense and attack would be able to be doubled against environmental creatures/weapons?
The reason I state non pvp is cause we don't wanna have new players with no defense die in one or two hits from a seasoned veteran just because their stats are higher.

Lastly I think a very slow health regeneration would be nice, like if you aren't in combat for like 20 seconds your health slowly would start to regenerate, take any damage though and you have to wait again. Food would still be relevant cause fights are difficult and you need food to survive. And if you immediately go back into a battle without food after your health has regenerated yeah you might be able to take one or two more hits but you will still need food, enemies can eat food as well so if you stay away for too long they get health back too XD

  • Nothing that boosts your damage/health against anything should be in the game since it would be unfair to new players and scare them away.

Sure it might be super minor but it's still a buff.

  • @itz-majman I feel like PvE buffs could be worked into the game if done correctly. However, it would take a lot of thought and consideration where the time spent is probably not worth it.

  • Ive often thought my ashen sword should be able to cut shadows with no light leaf skellies and clankers would be easier as well.. I don't see why we can't get PVE effects with some of the cooler weapons.. it's not like they are exclusive or time limited any more with this black market taking all of that away

  • @masterbetty89 actually, the ashen sword IS exclusive. The Black Market Archive only brings back cosmetics that were in the Black Market since September.

  • @mewtwoki The game is skill based and artificial boosts go against that philosophy.

  • @masterbetty89

The Black Market Archive only brings back the items in the final two sections of the Bilge Rat menus. Items such as the Ashen Dragon set, or the Forsaken Ashes, Bone Crusher and Set of the Wailing Barnacle (mostly, at least) will not be returning in their original forms through the Black Market or its Archive, however recolors likely will.

  • @mewtwoki

No, simple the pace and speed that one does PVE decreases the risks involved, the time available for others to show up and progression like this will benefit those that need it the least.

The main issue is aspects like cloud events, that are all about contesting, defending and completing balance. Now the most experienced crew will have the largest advantage... based on times doing PvE and experience, there is no need.

Or in PvP head to a storm, as you are nearly immune and want a combat advantage in pirate on pirate? Really...

All pirates are equal. It is the pirate way and why it is in the code.

So they will just bring back a variant of the sword In the black market everyone will get another shot at buying it they did it with bone crusher weapons

  • Stats is just a way to shield inexperienced players.

There are lots of games with MMO elements that use stats.
I think introducing a levelling system would spoil the fun.

Imagine blunderbussing somebody 6 times and it doesnt kill them.
Yet they do it twice and you’re dead.

Best off making a new game then introduce it in that. But I love that SOT pvp is fair.

  • @daringclarky well it wouldn’t be against players, it would be against skeletons and sharks and stuff not players, so there would be no time when a person takes 6 gunshots. And the health regen is after 20 seconds of not taking damage you respawn quicker than that.

  • @itz-majman Not sure how it would be unfair to new players since you wouldn’t have pvp boots just environmental. Like I said reduced damage from skeletons because they’ve hit you a lot, and increased damage against them if you’ve killed enough.
