So Day 2 of launch, and already the super competitive players are ruining the experience...so I’ve been playing since Alpha, and it was only until now that I saw the ultimate one trick technique, Cutlass Block - switch weapon to Blunderbuss - quick fire (no ads). It is the most broken technique. you literally just block with your cutlass and quickfire a blast to just chop them up in the end. A way too easy combo. Now mind you, after I found out about it I did use it, only because most of the experienced players tend to do so. I’m not saying it’s impossible to fight back but it is a very very annoying strat and ruins the combat of the game. It honestly ruined my experienced today getting one shot by a PC player every time. He killed our whole crew before we could react doing the same technique. Please fix this. It ruins combat significantly.
The one trick combat technique...
@il-kuriso-li Have you tried the Blunderbluss Flintlock combo. ADS Fire blunderbluss switch to flintlock while ads and fire take about 1 second and takes care of people surviving the blunderbluss ridiculous 1 shot capability
That "technique" is called a skill ceiling. I know xbox has catered to you and the console world for a long time but its the age of the pc and xbox see's it coming making all there games available for pc players. Let me explain a little more. When a game is good there is a set way to play that game that will first and for most seem unbeatable and downright unfair. This is natural for a casual player. Hence "what are you a casual?". You will hear PC players reference this, it is a label we give whiny people who instead of getting better at playing game pander to the developers and cheat producers to make them better without putting in the time to actually getting good at a game. We also automatically label any xbox players with that title because lets be honest here you have no chance at getting to a good pc players level its just not possible with the equipment you have been bestowed with. Within a games skill ceiling you will see one of two things happen here. Either the devs will listen too much to the casual's pandering and change their game to better suit the casual players. This is called a "nerf" this is explained better in this little tidbit I found on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsC8io4w1sY). It uses street fighter as an example but the same premise stands for all multiplayer gaming struggling with combat equality. Now back to your specific complaint. The whole block to blunder debacle. I know an easy counter to the move and it never fails but I'm not going to tell you because its the level I'm at with the time and research I've done. See I didn't come here to ask to nerf the game I decided 'there has to be a way to beat this' and so I went forth not with whining and morose complaints. I got a buddy and we joined a server and we figured out just what was happening and how to counter it. See that is the difference in a casual player and a good player. Now if you get your way and the devs nerf the blocky blundy ill call it, not only is my time spent, wasted effort and nonrefundable billable hours but I feel cheated. Now the game is easy for everyone to be good at. YAY! Why not just make a hugging simulator and call the game Sea of Friends. See the whole moral of the rant here is if you want to be good at a game don't expect to just log in and somehow dominate right out the gate. You found out what was happening and even admit to using the "technique" yourself. But you did not take the next step. Instead im guessing you got blocky blundyed one to many times and came here instead of putting for the effort needed to adapt and overcome. I get that you have been playing just as long as anyone could have been but have you been playing or competing? Because here in the PC world there is but one golden rule. GET GOOD. Should you not want to do that then shut your mouth and uninstall or prepare to get dominated because some of us are busy trying to have a good time showing xbox players just how casual they really are. hehe hope you take all of this with a dose of self realization and change because your attitude has killed many a game that had many an inexperienced developer. COtUhGeH cullCiOnUgGH oh ya on a side note no game no matter how fun or casual based should have pvp of any sort with cross platform gaming. I mean its a blood bath out there microsoft doooooo something or don't... lol its super entertaining for us PC players.
For the homies out there you know who this is, and you did from the blocky blundy comment its yo boy boobyT =) microsoft wants 10 dollars to change my 15 year old xbox live handle LOL.@teflondonwan said in The one trick combat technique...:

They are terrible, then. Keyboard and mouse is objectively better/easier to use.
I'd say that anything competitive has room to adapt. The kinds of levers the devs have to pull on combat are things like adding very small cooldowns to weapon swapping and stuff like that. Rare have said that they are listening to feedback so that the Summer updates can address the most important things to the community. Make your feedback heard and have some faith that they're going to attempt to include things that they both agree with and see there is a call for.
@selnor1983 I accept your challenge good sir. Please time place and game you on xbox me on pc should you want to monetize this event I would be honored to take your money =) I prefer bitcoin but I don't dare assume your tender ;)

That may be. If terrible is players who win at counter strike on a regular basis then they are terrible. I've been playing halo since I can remember. I've also yet to lose a ship battle in 27 hours with my crew. And I'm fully aware PC players are in the servers. There are plenty of Xbox players who are not causals. We know how to use a controller. And have spent 17 years honig our skills on a pad.

This is an awesome idea. As I no longer have a gaming PC. Either we wait till more games are crossplay or i can try and set it up on my friends PC. You have my Gamertag from here.
@selnor1983 I never underestimate an opponent but lets be honest here. If you took the BEST xbox player and the BEST PC players and let em duke it out it would be no contest. Not because pc players are necessarily better but because you have one of the largest disadvantages in the equipment you use. At no time will a player with a controller reach the level a keyboard and mouse player will. That is just a simple fact and if you deny it all I can do is disagree but you will look silly so please bow out now and save yourself.

I don't ever deny. Because that's when you get bitten. Lol. I've also seen it happen with wheel v controller. Controller gamers beating good wheel players.
@il-kuriso-li "So Day 2 of launch, and already the super competitive players are ruining the experience..."
It's a PvP game, man... It was always meant to be a PvP game. It's also a pirate game, did you seriously expect anything else?
"A way too easy combo."
There's a way to counter that... While Holding Block, use your power attack, you'll see what i'm talking about when you try it out... It is SOOO destructive! :D
You can also sidestep, hold block, while holding, move in a direction and press jump, makes it extremely hard to aim at you with guns, also is a good way to get behind players blocking with their cutlass too, then just slice em up!
There's plenty of ways to handle this, mate, master the game, will ya?
@selnor1983 If you can get a live feed going as I can and I can see you are playing with a controller of any sort ill play you in cs any day of the week. You just poked the lion and the lion ain't eaten in a loooooong time. =) Also I just say cs cuz its the quintessential shooter should you have other ideas please let them be known. And should you accept cs as the game may god have mercy on your controller.
@sweltering-nick Why would you help someone who is trying to plunder and murder you? Have you lost your mind?
@teflondonwan Fairly good response had you left out the rudeness and pointless derogatory flair aimed directly at one person instead of a generalized whole that are the wailing souls.
But now that you have learned and become such an expert (aka pro 1337 mastar-race) at in game techniques, could you please do us all a favor? Learn some very basic skills in these things we like to call "paragraphs" and "forum formatting"?
Then we might more readily read your wisdom in that giant block of text wall we like to call a run on thought?
@zokraitz We touched on that in other comments complete the tread first. I was not aiming to be rude hope it did not come off that way. I'm just poking a little gaming rivalry to entice some nice banter. To much coffee you knowhow it is =) Also too OP hope you did not take this as a slam or bullying or something Its not you its the topic =)
@teflondonwan It is no secret that i am a little bit insane, i'm the type to post on youtube comments, after all. xD
@amrylin1337 I mean why in the world would anyone do that? I'm at a loss for words. and idk if you can tell I have alot of words I have the best words I know words.
@teflondonwan Yeah I read your thread, go with your flow dude. But heavens to Gertrude, before hitting that submit button, go back and hit enter a few times. People will see that and not bother reading any of it.
They might learn something if they read parts of that, instead they will just go on to the next wailing soul thread after hitting the upvote to the OP.

Hahaha. Hold your horses. I dont presume to have played CounterStrike. I haven't. I said I beat PC players at the PC version of Halo CE. And I have yet to lose a ship battle in SeanOf Thieves. Maybe i haven't come across any PC players. But i think that's highly unlikely in 27 hours.
Generally any game that's console and PC. I don't for a minute presume I could beat a PC gamer at a PC only game that I haven't played. Lol@teflondonwan That right I respond to my own comments that's how full of myself I AM!!! I just wanted to say this was a low blow "Should you not want to do that then shut your mouth and uninstall or prepare to get dominated because some of us are busy trying to have a good time showing xbox players just how casual they really are." my comment could have done without it and I apologize.

@selnor1983 whats a wheel player? Also good quip on that first part.
I was referring to Racing games. I've watched guys with £1000 racing equipment get bear with a controller on Gran Turismo and Forza.
